About Kieran Mynott
I currently reside between Tenerife and the UK splitting my time between work and family. We run a great stargazing experience from the house and you may even want to join us for the tour. We can arrange a price for this with you on arrival.
Kieran Mynott purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2013
Why Kieran Mynott chose Vilaflor
The house is an old Canarian style building situated on the edge of the national park in Vilaflor. Its perfect for getting the family together in a historic rural setting. There are lots of walks in the area throughout the national park and forest. Hiring a car is recommended although there is a limited bus service to the area. It is a unique family retreat in the mountains with the added bonus of the beaches of costa adeje being only 30 minute drive away.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
This property has a real old Canarian and Spanish feel about it. Located in the plaza to the historic village of vilaflor it is perfectly positioned to explore the unique landscape that the volcanic islands have to offer yet only being a 30 minute drive away from the bustling coastal region of costa adeje and Los Cristianos. Having been my own home for many years, I can credit how peaceful and idyllic the area is.

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
Unfortunately we did not get what was described. The pool was not heated and was not fixed during the time we stayed at the house. It was very dusty, a lot of things unfixed and broken like curtains and door handles falling off, the central heating was poor so that made the house every cold during the night and the mattresses need replacesing. We choose the house because it fitted the amount of people going on the trip and the price was reasonable for what was on offer, but as soon as you arrive and see what is actually there, it was very disappointed. The only thing that I can say or have a positive mention on is the caretaker Carlos and his wife, thy made as very welcome and where always there for help.
Tired and not fit for purpose
It’s probably best if I do not catalogue everywhere this property falls down as I would be here for the next week. Suffice it to say that our family succeeded in enjoying our holiday in spite of the property’s alarming shortcomings. We have laid these out to the owners but would suggest prospective renters take the advertised attributes of this house with a very large pinch of salt.
I believe this gentleman a little upset as we deducted an amount from his deposit for loss of keys an smoking in 1 of the bedrooms, the house is 18th century an of historic interest an quirky, The gas bottle did need changing an the electric did trip but there is a gentleman in the villiage on call for these matters an any other questions, there was no complaints dureing their stay and they enjoyed a free excursion star gazing
A nice hotel apartment in original condition in a local environment
A place to sleep, and a base near the magnificent rural landscape of Teide volcano on Tenerife.
The hotel is a great alternative to the rush of the southern cities. A great place for assembling a company for a vacation or a series of hikes in the beautiful nature. The rooms are fairly big, and most include a bathroom each. There is a fully equipped kitchen + a secondary. One of the rooms upstairs, near the kitchen, contains tables supporting all guests for a joined meal. The pool is not heated, and thus a bit cold in mid-november, but the jacuzzi is heatable... The owners are friendly, and supportive, and were visiting every other day of our stay, to check up on the house and the heating system - they solved all questions swiftly. The village is cozy, and with a number of cafés. It is a 30 min drive to the beaches of Los Christianos...
The house is a large Spanish house around 200 years old that has been renovated with a sauna a hot tub on the terrace and a large solar heated pool
The local village is spanish in character with several small bars and rerstaurants all weithin a short walk the area is very popular with hikers and cyclists
