Very Cozy Cabin with a lot of charm. Wrap-around porch surrounds the cabin with plenty of rocking chairs to enjoy the beautiful view and the rushing creek below. This cozy cabin will be your home away from home. It has been recently remodeled with a bear motif and also has hardwood floors, and pine board walls. A spiral staircase takes you to the loft bedroom where you can use the large window above the bed as your headboard and feel as though you are sleeping in the great outdoors.
The cabin sits half way up the mountain at approximately 3100 ft elevation. Perfect for enjoying the cool summer nights and the beautiful fall foliage. It is secluded, however, there are neighbors close enough for comfort and you are only 4 miles from Sylva North Carolina where you have all the latest restaurants as well as Super Walmart for your groceries and necessities.
There is plenty to do such as Harrahs Casino (10 minutes away) and a scenic train ride in Bryson City (10 minutes away). We are also only minutes from white water rafting, dirt-bike riding, ATV trails, tubing, shopping and lots more. If you would rather just take it easy, there is plenty of reading materials as well as a game table with ample games to keep you busy and sharing quality time with your loved ones.
we also have an additional cabin on the property that is available to rent if you have a larger party
We are the Rigney's (Jim and Stepheney) We live on the West Coast of Florida, we purchased the cabins to be able to escape the brutal summers of SW fl, however, with the economy the way it is we have had to put our plans on hold. That is why we decided to rent the cabins and to do it at affordable rates so that others can have a chance to get away and relax.
Stepheney Rigney purchased this cabin in 2005
We absolutely love the NC Mountains, when you are there time stands still, life slows down and you can breathe deep and relax.
We came up and spent the New Years weekend at the cabin. I thought it to be a quiet little get away. Perfect for anyone that is not me or my girlfriend however. The furnace was somewhat complicated as the pilot went out and we luckily were able to borrow a screw driver from our neighbors to unscrew the grate to light the pilot. We got it lit but the furnace was too hot for the little cabin and made the upstairs unbearable, no pun intended. She wouldn't go up and opted for pullout bed on the couch which hurt my back. I tried the fan but she hated it and refused to stay up there, the intense heat caused me to dry out and I became sick. The owner should consider writing instructions for the furnace, I assume the fan was there to help with the heat but that didn't fly over to well of heat and fan combo. The kitchen was a well kept area, small but much to work with in terms of cooking tools. I thought it was very nice. The bathroom was adequate for our height and size , wish the water could be as warm as faucets got, toilet works effectively. There's a dinner table that seats two and satellite tv with little to watch except Comedy Central and a ton of televangelico programs. A rocking chair was a nice touch though weak. The spiral staircase needs screw tightening on the rail. The deck is good for grilling. I feel it may make a better summer cabin than winter but overall, cute and welcoming. If you are a fisherman into bears and tv this is for you, maybe not for a romantic getaway. I did like looking out at the stars at night in the bed. It's about 45-50 away from Asheville which is a fun place with great food, beer and is progressive to the max. Worth going to for bit. The cabin is near some awesome hiking trails and I recommend taking them. I would go back to the area, had a good time, and enjoyed the beautiful smoky mountains.
Very cozy. The loft bedroom is a unique experience. The kitchen included all the necessities for cooking and even some helpful items that weren't expected. Really enjoyed rocking on the rocking chair with coffee in the morning while listening to the creek. The t.v. is a nice size and had a great picture with a DVR . Nice furniture on the wrap around porch.
Everything was perfect. However, don't use the home away from app for directions to get you there. Have the specific address in gps and make sure you have everything you need written down as there is no signal to open the app once your there. Perfect place for 2 to enjoy quiet time. Thanks!!!
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved the cabin. It was so cozy and comfortable for us that we did nothing but lounge around the whole first day. My absolute favorite part of the cabin was the quiet seclusion that it provided away from the world. We have already started planning for a return trip next year. We highly recommend for anyone looking to escape into the beautiful back country hills and truly relax!
The cabin was cozy and perfect for a weekend in the Smokys. It has a rustic feel and the huge porch was awesome. About 25 minutes to Bryson City. The place had everything you'd need for making breakfast or cooking. The shower could have been a little warmer but that's about it.
Water had horrible smell. Stairs need to tightened up. It was clean but Very dusty on walls. I don't see how 4 people could comfortably stay it was a tight fit for 2 people. Warn people of driveway that turn was dangerous in a van !!!
Harrahs Casino only 13 miles away.
Try your luck on gambling and also take in a show.
