I grew up on and around Caragh Lake and recently moved back to this beautiful part of the world with my wife and eight year old son. As a family we love the water. For years we've been sailing, windsurfing and paddle boarding, mainly on reservoirs around London, but on a trip home mid 2015 the penny dropped - this place was heaven and it was time to move back. I'm originally German, moved to Ireland when I was a kid, lived in France for a number of years and for the past twenty have been in the UK, working in digital media. For us it's about the quality of life here - the great outdoors, fantastic food and time with friends and family. We feel incredibly lucky to be able to call this part of the world home and, whether at Bells Cottage, my parents' charming traditional Kerry farmhouse; or at Caragh Lake House, our lakeshore home which we recently renovated, we look forward to sharing this little bit of heaven with you.

Ideal family vacation
Wow! Our stay surpassed our expectations. I wanted a house in Ireland to celebrate my father-in-law's 75th birthday. We had 3 families and this house fit us all comfortably. The decor and style were designed with care and taste. The views of the lake and summer sun were majestic. We even got out onto the lake in the kayaks (be careful when windy). The location is ideal—close to several outstanding golf courses; quiet, serene setting overlooking the lake; less than 10 minutes to town; and it’s well situated for day trips to so many places. The town of Killorglin maintains the charm and sense of community of an Irish town but also has a very nice choice of restaurants. Our favorite was Giovannelli (Michelin recipient). Our family travels quite often (my wife is a travel writer) and we see and experience many places. Jens’ Caragh Lake House is one of our absolute favorites. It helped make a family celebration special—one that will not be soon forgotten.
Andy, thank you! What a lovely review. It was a real pleasure to welcome you, Dana and the family. We hope we can keep in touch. Warm regards from what was today, a beautifully calm lake. Jens & Michelle
Should have stayed longer!!!
This was our 2nd stop on a family holiday in Ireland. 5 adult siblings and our spouses traveled Ireland over a 10-day period. Unfortunately, we only allotted 3 nights at Caragh Lake House. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Michelle. We were quite impressed with the home and the property!! We should have booked the house for the entire week!! It is the perfect spot for exploring the entire SW of Ireland!
Hi Wes. Thank you so much for the lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your time at Caragh Lake House. We hope we keep in touch. Warm regards from the lake. Michelle & Jens

The best holiday we've ever had!
My whole family stayed at Caragh lake house for a week, when we arrived my mouth fell open with shock at how much more beautiful the view and house was compaired to the pictures. What a nice surprise to have a property not only live up to expectations but to outdo them! Simply don't have the words to describe how peaceful and breathtaking the view is and the house is so spacious and well designed, fitted. My whole family are in love and we will definitely be back! Jens and Michelle were so accomodating and there was a fresh apple pie on the table when we checked in. Cannot say enough for this property and it's owners!
Thank you! What kind words. We really really appreciate it.
It was an absolute delight to host you all on such a special occasion.
We hope we keep in touch.
Warm regards from the lake.

A fantastic house with everything you need on the edge of a lovely Lake
We had a great stay for a week in July, 3 generations of the family, aged from 14 to 85; the house had absolutely everything we needed, including space and places to get peace when needed!
Thanks so much for the review.
It was great having you all stay.
Hope you enjoyed the fell running.
Keep in touch.

Amazing home - Amazing location/view - Amazing hosts
I've been renting homes on Home Away for years but Jens and Michelle just set the bar on how to make their home feel like it was our home! We arrived late in the evening but they insisted on being there to welcome us to their home and had food and drink waiting for our arrival. It was dark when we arrived so the next morning so I rushed to the window as soon as I opened an eye, the view was more than than I could have ever expected. Just stunning! We day tripped taking in the sights while enjoying the home in the evening, even relaxed around the fireplace which was so relaxing. We really needed a relaxing vacation and Jens and Michelle's home delivered above and beyond our expectations! If I could rate it 6 stars I would. Thanks again Jens and Michelle, you really made our vacation exceptional!
Thank you Casey! What kind words. It was a real pleasure to host you and your family and I hope we stay in touch. Have a great summer. Warm regards from the lake. Jens & Michelle
