A beautiful place to retreat to after a busy day of tourism!
My two sons and I loved the comfort of the house and its views of the reserve. We enjoyed seeing a new type of bird every time we left and returned. A peaceful place from where it is easy to go explore England, be it by car or from the nearby train.
A beautiful place
The property and location were beautiful, a great place to spend time with friends.
It was great for a family Christmas. However 2 loos not enough for 8 people-.
We had a lovely & relaxing time. Georgina was a delight.
Lovely house for a larger group in a unique setting
We used the house for our church leadership weekend The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. The location is beautiful and peaceful. Good walking opportunity in the marsh and estuary landscape. Veryy easy to get to from London
Beautiful, tranquil, unique!
Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay! We spent the weekend having a very relaxed gathering in the cottage and enjoyed every moment of it. The views from the property were just stunning. The house itself surpassed my expectations; it was clean, well-equipped, spacious and homely. We had a lovely welcome from Eleanor who made us feel very at home and Georgina was extremely helpful and friendly during the booking process.
The 8 of us that stayed enjoyed it so much that we have decided to try and make it an annual trip, so will definitely be looking to book again!
Tranquillity in a fabulous nature reserve.
We stayed for 3 nights in early May, eight family members spanning three generations. The property was ideal for this family gathering, very spacious and spotlessly clean. The location in the nature reserve is unique and we were amazed at the number of different bird species, many of which we had not seen before, short eared owls and hobby to name just two. Also never seen so many marsh harriers and the hares were magnificent, coming right up to the house windows. The weather wasn't the best, dry but very cold north easterly winds, but the windows in every room had great views of the reserve and we saw lots of things with binoculars from the warmth of the house. Having said that, it was well worth the walk to the bird hides about a mile away.
Very difficult to find any faults with this property, but if I'm being really picky I'd say it would be useful to have candles or a torch in case the generator fails (which it did for a short time whilst we were there) and the kitchen would benefit from a pair of scissors, a Pyrex measuring jug and a separate bin for recycling glass, plastics etc.
These are very minor points and did not spoil what was a fabulous weekend. If you want peace and quiet surrounded by nature, in a very comfortable and spacious property, you should definitely give this place a go.
