La Petite Grange offers accommodation for 2 to 4 people in a beautifully renovated barn with lots of original features. The light and airy living area has exposed honey coloured stonework, high beamed ceilings and double French doors with valley views. These lead out to your own covered terrace area with patio furniture and barbecue. The covered terrace has a lovely feel to it and gives you the benefit of a shady spot from the sun and shelter on a rainy day. The kitchen-diner, on a split level from the lounge, is well equipped with seating for four people, fully glazed entrance door, exposed stonework and beamed ceiling. Bedroom one has a beautiful old French double bed, stunning exposed ceiling beams, polished chestnut floors and a dormer window overlooking rolling fields and woodland. Bedroom two has a set of full length bunk beds, exposed ceiling beams, polished chestnut floors and a dormer window with farmland views. There is Sky TV with English channels and a great WIFI reception
La Ferme de La Tour is an ensemble of beautiful old farm buildings dating back to the 16th century. Overlooking 2 1/2 acres of parkland, are four impeccably presented cottages / barn conversions, and a large chlorine free heated swimming pool. High on a hill, at the top of a valley, we are surrounded by magnificent countryside, a network of pretty footpaths and a neighbouring historical château. The breathtaking valley views, gardens and huge skies will overwhelm you with a feeling of peace and tranquillity disturbed only by the abundance of wildlife and the occasional distant tractor. The pool, which is bathed in sunshine from dawn to dusk, is perfectly sited to maximise the views of the Dordogne valley. Each gite has excellent WIFI reception. To visit our personal website scroll all the way down and click on the link at the bottom of the page just above the car hire advert and similar properties.
WIFI is available throughout, with boosters in each gite, ensuring a good reception no matter where you are..........
On site activities include table tennis, boules, badminton, football net and swings..
During the summer ( end of May to the end of September ) Le Fournil and The Cottage are available on a Friday to Friday basis. La Grange and La Petite Grange are both available on a Saturday to Saturday basis. We are flexible during the remainder of the year.
We welcome families and couples alike, however our premises are not suitable for children under five years of age.
Friendly but unobtrusive owners live on site..
We are an average family of four that originate from the village of Wroxham in Norfolk in the east of England.
Why did we move to France ? Why not...... We are, or should I say were, the same as most working families in the western world, devoted parents, but having to give ourselves and far too much time to careers which involve long hours and stress. So we looked for an alternative and France seemed like the right choice. The choice provided us with more stress and longer hours than you can imagine and for the first three or four years it was extremely hard work, both physically and mentally. However we are now reaping the benefits and enjoying our new life to the full, in one of the most beautiful areas we could have dreamed of living.
Chris and Kate Waters purchased this barn in 2004
We moved lock stock and barrel to the Sarlat area in 2004, buying a set of empty farm buildings that needed far too much work. But the position and the views had us hooked and nothing came anywhere near a close second. So here we are, several years have past and the renovation and transformation completed, but not without some real highs and lows and a vast collection of stories and experiences.
The position is magical and just not possible to capture in a picture.
We have been extremely lucky to find a property with such a formula of character, views and location. We are close to Sarlat, which is the jewel of the Dordogne, yet in a truly rural setting in stunning countryside.
We stayed in La Petite Grange for a week in early September and we were not disappointed. Right from making the booking through to our stay, everything was fantastic! Straight forward reservation direct with the owners, easy to follow directions to the gite and a very warm welcome upon arrival. The gite was clean, bright and well laid out with plenty of space for our things. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay including a fantastic book full of ideas and recommendations for days out and places to visit. Outside there is a wonderful, clean and warm pool for guests to enjoy with stunning views across the valley. The location of the gite is perfect in terms of exploring the local area. Close to the Dordogne river with all its attractions and activities and also really close to Sarlat which is a truly magical place. So much to explore and enough restaurants to be able to eat out every night for a month!! We were so lucky to have discovered this place and hope to be able to return.
This was our second visit, which probably tells you all you need to know. The properties are clean, well maintained and stocked with all the utensils you need for a holiday. The main selling point for our family though was the location and the grounds. Large grounds with enough toys to keep the children (and adults) entertained, a large pool at just the right temperature, sweeping views down to the Dordogne and within striking distance of all that major sights in the region. Well worth the second visit, maybe even a third. Would definitely recommend to others.
La Ferme de la Tour is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. We stayed in La Petite Grange which was very comfortable. The gite is very private and has a lovely outdoor seating area and access to a great pool with amazing views. Chris and Kate are fantastic hosts offering local knowledge and advising on places to visit in the area. La Ferme de la Tour is in a great location to visit near by Sarlat, Domme, Beynac and many other beautiful towns and villages which are a short drive away. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be coming back!
My wife and I found La Petite Grange in an ideal location for purposes of our holiday. The unit was very clean and well furnished. The bedrooms were a bit small and views restricted to dormer windows facing north. The second bedroom with bunk beds is only suitable for small children. The bathroom is a bit unusual with the sink on one side and the mirror on the other. People 6' or taller may have some head clearance issues with the sink and at the top of the stairwell as the ceiling curves downward at those locations. The kitchen table can seat four, but only 2 or 3 conveniently. Wine glasses were very small and we bought several so we could limit the number of pours and enjoy the aroma of the wines. We are somewhat picky since one of our sons owns a winery in California. Wi-Fi was great and the living area very comfortable. The views to the south from inside were very restricted and only when you stepped out to the furthest right part of the terrace was an almost full view in that direction possible. If you want good south facing views, one of the other 3 units would be a better choice. Mike and Mary Callahan
A lovely week in beautiful countryside with stunning views. The small group of converted farm buildings is well run by attentive owners. La Petite Grange was ideal for a couple. The steep stairs might be a problem with small children but suited us just fine. Good walks from the property and handy for all the historic sites , chateaux and markets.
Situated within the hamlet of La Tour we are two minutes from the pretty village of Sainte Nathalene with a bar, hotel, restaurants and small shop. Just 7 miles from the historical town of Sarlat-la-Caneda with more listed buildings than any other town in Europe and a twice weekly market, it is perfectly placed for access to all of the most beautiful sites in Dordogne and Lot. There are numerous chateaux to visit, caves to explore and pretty market towns to meander through. There is also a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages close by. The Perigord region is famous for it's quality food and wine (of which Sarlat with an array of street entertainment is arguably the capital) available at very affordable rates. For the even more serious wine lover then Bergerac and it's fine wine region is only an hour away. For those that want to sample the local wine then transport can be arranged locally. Please contact us for details of our website and further internal and external pictures.
