Adorable, clean, comfortable, well-located
Istanbul is a confusing place, but it really helps to have a comfortable place to return to every evening. I have absolutely no complaints about this gorgeous apartment. It looks light-filled in the photo, and it is. It has everything you could want and then some: air conditioning that works, washer and dryer, compact but well-appointed kitchen, queen bed AND modular couch that could probably convert into two more beds.
A couple of things to be aware of: this apartment is on the 3rd floor (American) with no elevator, so you have two flights of stairs to climb to get to the apartment. The stairs have no railing, so carry small children rather than letting them climb. Also, the bedroom looks tiny in the photo, and it is; the bed literally fills the room (there are small ventilated raised panels on either side of it) and you have to climb in from the foot of the bed. The door doesn't even open all the way. One nice thing I found out by accident, though, is that one of the switches in the bedroom operates a motion-activated night light on the floor at the foot of the bed, so if you get up in the middle of the night, you might disturb your partner trying to shuffle your butt to the end of the bed, but at least you'll have light as soon as you put your foot on the floor!
The neighborhood is not touristy at all; it's centered around a small mosque square that functions as a landmark so you can get your bearings. Everything you could need is right in the area: 2 small supermarkets (I recommend the Carrefour), a pastry shop, hardware stores, used and new clothing boutiques, liquor stores, drugstores, etc.--even an Italian gelato place! Taksim Square is about 7-8 blocks away and up a small hill; the Galata Tower is about as far away. The main tourist area (Sultanahmet, with the Hagia Sophia and other attractions) is across the Golden Horn, the waterway that divides the European side of the city, but still walkable if you have some extra time and don't mind crossing the Galata Bridge.
This apartment gave me the peace and relaxation I really wanted from my vacation, and really needed after 10 days on a busy tour in other parts of Turkey. I would stay here again!
All the information provided about this apartment was accurate and helpful. It was central to the main shopping and entertainment venues in the area with lots of shops and places to eat nearby. There is a wide range of types of food to suit anyone, food is very a good standard at very reasonable prices. The older part of town with the central bazaar, the famous mosques and Topkapi palace is about 40 minutes walk or a quick ride on a modern tram.
The property provided everything we needed, it was comfortable and well equipped, a big window onto the street, and marble flooring. The weather was still quite warm and after being outside walking a lot the powerful shower with plentiful hot water and the efficient touch button air conditioning unit were a real comfort. Everything was spotlessly clean and in good condition.
Customer service was excellent. There was a complication over transfers to and from the airport that was sorted out without causing difficulty for us and a maintenance need that arose within the apartment was all done within an hour. There is a phone for local calls and to contact Cast if needed. Our contact, Serdal, was charming and gave us a lot of good information about the best places in the area for eating, museums, jazz etc. He even told us about the best books (and the ones to avoid!) by a local nobel prize winning author, Orhan Pamuk, and about a photographer, Ara Guler.
The street we were in was quiet and peaceful yet it was less than a five minute walk to lots of shops and places to eat. The main shopping along a very long pedestrianised precinct, Istiklal, was less than 10 minutes walk. there is lots to do and we will be returning.
Really nice Apartment
We had a very beautiful accommodation with the Azure 2 Apartment at Cihangir. It has a lovely neighborhood with many restaurants and cafés. (You have to visite MUA's Gelaterie!) You can reach every sight and Kabatas Port to go everywhere.
We recommend a stay in the CAST-Apartment!
Elegant, homey, centrally located
My husband and I stayed for a week at Azure, and we were very happy with the apartment, with Kadir's help in settling in and with the area. The flat is nicely set up, compact but it has everything you could need: washer/dryer, wi-fi, kitchen TV etc. The location is close to public transport, taxis and to supermarkets/ cafes and bakeries. We got picked up at the airport by the car service that CAST arranges, which was a big relief. Kadir was at the flat to explain everything and settle us in. Overall, a great experience and a good way to experience Istanbul as a normal person, not a tourist.
This apartment is located on the 2nd floor in a historic building on a quiet street in Cihangir- one of Istanbul’s trendiest neighborhoods. Cozy cafes, amazing restaurants, local shops and trendy bars are everywhere you look in this neighborhood, which could explain why so many intellectuals, expats and artists choose to call it home. The metro and tram are both less than a 10 minute walk away, making it easy to get to the old town and anywhere else you might want to go. With so much to offer, it’s easy to see why the UK Guardian named Cihangir one of the top five places in the world to live.
