This Gorgeous beach front apartment has large terrace overlooking the ocean which makes for a romantic location. Being an end unit views span from the ocean round to the south. Built on two floors lower level has entrance hall, large bedroom, bathroom and utility room. Wooden stairs lead to Master bedroom with en suite shower room. .Extra shower room on landing. Huge living area is 40' by 16' with high pickled pine ceilings. Italian kitchen has dishwasher, microwave Neff oven + hob. Gated parking. Use of communal Pool in Holetown. AC in bedrooms.

Diamond in the rough!!

We just returned from a week in this beautiful unit! First of all, the view is amazing, you will never want to leave!! The sound and view of the ocean is absolutely incredible!! We have traveled the Caribbean and have never had every need satisfied quite like this. Jude has thought of everything to make this a carefree vacation. I really can't think of anything that was missing from the kitchen to the outdoors. The location was perfect, just far enough away to relax and close enough to join in. The snorkeling right in front of our unit was awesome, definitely our preference after traveling to several others. The Heywoods beach was by far our favorite!! The restaurants within walking distance were great!! We loved Jumas, Orange Street Grocer and L'Attitude. The grocery store in Speightstown was sufficient but preferred the one in Holetown due to variety. Bathsheba was definitely worth the trip on the Atlantic side, the views were amazing. We had lunch at the Crane Resort which we would highly recommend. Amazing views and great food!! Sarah was a joy to meet, we called her daily and she made great recommendations to make our vacation the best ever. We did not feel like we missed out on a thing! We can't wait to return to this unit and spend time in this diamond in the rough!!

Sorry I missed meeting you but had left the island just before your arrival. I do try to keep the standards high in the penthouse, have just installed a new mattress, pillows, fly screens, bedside lamps etc etc. I agree the views out to the ocean are truly wonderful and being so close to all that warm blue water is lovely. White Sands was wonderful!!

Great experience at Coco De Mer. Sarah was more than accommodating!! The condo was lovely and very well equipped! Everything was absolutely perfect! The location was convenient and close to town. Being off season, it was very quiet and serene!

Stylish and spacious

We are not long back from our stay at Whitesands in Speightstown, our tonic from an English February and if we could, we'd do the same in March, April, May, etc. It's a lovely, stylish apartment with high ceilings and a cool, spacious feel to it that was very much to our taste. Masses of room for the two of us and equally suitable for two couples I would think. There's a cool breeze from back to front that meant we didn't need the air-conditioning at all during our stay. The view from the balcony is of the Caribbean and we swam immediately across the road (with bathing shoes as there are some rocks) which we enjoyed more than the more crowded (but more highly regarded) beach, also accessible just 5 minutes north. Speightstown, I would guess is 'real' Barbados, likeable without being touristified. A short drive south to Holestown gives you all of that aspect of the island. We had a car which gave us easy access to the rest of the island and would recommend Hunte's Garden and Andromeda Botanical Garden. On the practical side, it was very easy to make a booking and Judith provided detailed guidance on finding and using the apartment while Sarah was on-hand to greet us and show us around. Pam gave great service when she came for the weekly maid visit. Highly recommended and just what you see in the photos.

Beautiful apartment in relaxing beach town

We stayed at Coco de Mer for one week and wish we could have stayed longer. The apartment is just as well-kept, spacious, and beautiful as it appears in the photos. The balcony overlooking the beach was our favorite spot to relax in the morning and in the evening watching the sunsets. The Speightstown fish market is a short walk away and a great place to get fresh fish to cook. We did our grocery shopping at the two nearby super markets also in walking distance and bought fresh bread at the local bakery. There are beachfront restaurants within walking distance, but we chose to cook and eat the majority of our meals on the balcony.

If you are looking to stay in a less touristy area and experience the local Bajan culture Speightstown is perfect. We took the bus a couple of times from the nearby terminal, but it can take an hour or more to reach destinations in the South of the island.

There are plenty of beaches close to Coco de Mer. We swam in the beach directly in front of the apartment, but it can be rocky. Just a short 3 minute walk there is a long stretch of beach in front of various hotels that is perfect for swimming and also has shaded areas. This was our first time in Barbados and we would definitely come back and happily stay at Coco de Mer again.

Wonderful Apartment, Exactly as Described

We are just finishing up our stay at Coco de Mer and wanted to get our review in while it was fresh in our minds.

Firstly, the apartment itself is exactly as described and we were thankful not to be surprised by anything lacking. It's spacious, immaculately kept, and overlooks a gorgeous sunset every single evening.

After our first visit to Barbados ten years ago, we were hoping to find something that wasn't too "touristy", and Speightstown fit the bill perfectly. The locals are very friendly and there is plenty to see and do in the immediate area. We ate at The Orange Street Grocer multiple times and it was perfect for quick meals overlooking the Caribbean. Next door is La Bouche, which is a lovely bar/cafe where you can get a great Bajan meal every Sunday called the "Sunday Munch". The bakery across the street sells delicious breads and pastries as well. Further down the road are The Fisherman's Pub, which is a local landmark bar and grill, and Juma's, which is more of a fine-dining experience with spectacular views.

If you're wishing to eat in, Eddie's is just around the corner, and Jordan's just down the road. Both have a good selection of items for dinner.

If you'd like to explore the island further, the Speightstown bus terminal is less than two blocks away and will take you anywhere on the island for $2 BDS each way. It's incredibly convenient and a high selling-point of this apartment.

However, if don't want to take a bus, many attractions offer free transportation, including the Tiami Catamaran cruises and the Mount Gay Rum tours, both of which are highly recommended.

If we had to offer criticism, we would say that upon arrival we were a bit apprehensive about the amount of security required to get in the apartment. Between the car-park lock, the master door, the barred security gate, and the front door of the apartment, there are a total of 7 locks to get in. We found ourselves wondering if we were in an unsafe part of the island. However, in the end, it was apparent that Jude and Sarah are simply being diligent, which is most appreciated, and as long as you use the proper precautions you would normally use when traveling, Speightstown is a perfectly safe and great place to vacation.

Finally, it should be noted that Jude and Sarah were excellent hosts, providing information, arranging taxis, and even greeting us with beverages upon arrival.

Bottom line: this place is the PERFECT getaway and we can't recommend it enough.

Coco De Mer is located meters from the wonderful blue Sea with a beautiful deck where you can watch sunsets, stargaze sipping your champagne cocktail. This lovely 2 bed 3 bath corner property on West Coast BARBADOS is just North of historic Speightstown and the sound of the waves soothe your days and nights.

This is real Barbados with fruit and vegetables sold on the colorful streets. A small road runs between the white sand beach and the penthouse where you may see a turtle emerge from the ocean to lay her eggs. Port St Charles beach where priceless yachts are moored is 10 min away or relax on a sunbeds on our beach if you can bear to leave your own sundeck!. Sensational restaurants such as the cliff and Sandy Lane are located in a 5mile radius. The road to the east coast with breathtaking wild surf and natural beauty is easily accessible as is Mullins Beach. Supermarkets, Pharmacy, Banks and Restaurants are in walking distance as is the Orange Street Grocer a great place to dine!

Other Activities: Local hotel offers inexpensive day pass for water sports, golf, meals etc. Reefers and Wreckers Dive Shop is located a few minutes away!

Golf: Royal Westmoreland, Sandy Lane and Apes Hill are superb Golf Courses. Also the Barbados Golf Club further south.

I cannot emphasise enough the beauty of the East coast with its wild waves and salty winds blown in from miles away. A surfers paradise.. Not to be missed!
