We live just north of Los Angeles and bought the house when our daughter was attending Cal Poly University. Now it is a favorite place for our family. The beach house is where we all go to have fun, spend special family time and make new memories. All the kids you see on our listing are our grandchildren enjoying the beach! We are so happy to be able to share the house so that others can experience all the beauty and magic of the Central Coast.
Susan purchased this house in 1987
Our stay at your charming, cheerful and spotless home at Morro Bay was FANTASTIC!!! Can't tell you how much fun we had. The house was so perfect for our group and the girlfriends kept thanking me for finding it and setting up the plans. It was beyond our expectations!!! The view was beyond words. I don't think any of us saw the sea life that you had just seen but there was lots of activity around us and we did go many places. The weather was made to order.
We have spent more than 15 years vacationing annually in Morro Bay and have had our eye on this beautiful cottage by the sea for quite some time. Situated on a cul de sac approximately 20 steps to the sand. The front porch was the perfect spot to watch the kids play on the beach and watch dolphins swimming in the ocean. We were pleasantly surprised that the little beach house was not so little. The three bedrooms were very spacious as were the two bathrooms. The living room and kitchen were cozy and perfect size for our family of five. The layout is perfect if you want to be together or if you want to retreat to one of the bedrooms for some private time.
The house was very clean and so beautifully decorated. You can walk out the door and head out for a run, ride your bike, or head out for a swim. You are a 10 min. Drive to Cayucos or. 5 min. Drive to the embarcadero.
We were here for a full week and enjoyed every second. We look forward to our next stay
We visit Morro Bay at least 1x/year from Tucson for our beach fix. The "Red Door House" has been our favorite rental and go-to for our vacations. Even when our 3 grown kids pop in for a few days during our weekly stay, we always have plenty of room. The view can not be compared, and the long walks either down to the Rock or north to Cayucus, can't be any better. Montana de Oro, walking the sand spit, kayaking, checking out the elephant seals, Hearst Castle, Moonstone Beach, Cambria, shopping at the farmer's market on Thursday nights in SLO, eating at our favorites (Giovanni's and HoffBrau House both in Morro Bay), are just a few of the activities we do over and over. Oh, I almost forgot: watching the whales from the deck, or even inside the house, is great too. The owners make it so easy with the red door house, and it holds a special place in my husband and my hearts.
We stay on the central coast each summer renting a different property each time. This is our first time so far south, but our favorite property overall. The fact that the kids could be on the beach and we could keep an eye on them from the front deck was wonderful. The sloping from the house to the water's edge allowed for a full view and a pleasant comfort level to keep an eye on the kids. Of course we had two 6th graders with us. I wouldn't have felt as comfortable with younger or less predictable kids that close to the water and me at the house. But joining them is half the fun and the walk to the water is exertion free. So worry not.
Crills has the best taffy on the central coast. The American Fish Company has great food (lunch costs less and can be eaten as late as 4). Duckies in Cayucos is the best for chowder.
The house is at the end of the Morro Strand and you have the whole street mostly to yourself. Do expect others to park along the strand (and in front of the house) for photo opportunities through sunset each evening. I can only imagine how impacted it gets over July 4th holiday, but what a perfect location to enjoy the festivities.
Being able to stroll onto the beach rather than pack up the car or walk blocks to the shore was PERFECT for us. So much so that we rarely left the house and never even made it up to Cambria, one of our favorite places on earth. The house itself seems much larger than it looks like it could be. The rooms are good size and the layout is great with bedrooms at the end of a close-off-able hallway letting early birds and late sleepers to rest peacefully. Garage (and w/d) are accessible from inside the house. The deck chairs are in the garage and made for comfortable and relaxing mornings and evenings on the deck. There's also a hose behind the house to wash off an afternoon of boogie boarding: kids, suits, boards and shoes.
As you'll read in many other comments, the kitchen is perfect with far more hidden treasures than typically found in a vacation rental. Especially appreciated were the number of utensils, spices, mixing bowls, pans and measuring tools. The property was clean and well-maintained, like that friend's house that you love to visit and feel so comfortable in. Susan was always quick to respond and so helpful as we planned our trip. They take pride in their home and it shows. Hopefully their renters will continue to do the same so it is available for years to come. Highly recommended!
My Mom, two sisters and I booked three nights at this beautiful home for our "Mother-Daughter" weekend. The house was exactly as pictured. Very clean, organized and comfortable. What impressed us the most however, was the stunning view! We commented over and over how wonderful the view of Morro Rock and the beach was! We cooked breakfast every morning at the house and found everything we could possible need right at our fingertips. During the day, we ventured a few minutes North to Cambria and Moonstone Beach. The annual Kite Festival happened to be that weekend and we enjoyed that very much. Had lunch and a delicious dinner at the Embarcadero which is the center of everything for the tourist and locals as well. It has a great view of the bay and Morro Rock. The owner was great with email communication and seemed committed to making sure our stay was perfect, and it was! Can't wait to visit again!
The home was beautiful and had everything we needed. The location was perfect and beach was very private. The owner went out of her way To make sure we had everything we needed.A fantastic value and a fabulous experience.I highly recommend this place to everyone.
The location of the home is spot on, you can not get closer to the beach. We spent our mornings with the kids playing in the water and exploring tidepools. In the afternoons we ventured the many wonderful things the central coast has to offer. If you are there on a Thursday, go to the SLO Farmers Market and get BBQ!
The views are spectacular, whether you are looking south to Morro rock or north to Cayoucos. Take your binoculars and spend some time looking in the waves, there is plenty of sea life to see. Its a great place to relax, cook, and make memories.
The home itself is clean, updated and very comfortable. You feel like you are a guest in someone's home, it does not feel like a generic vacation rental. The property has real charm and character. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride.
I will come back again.
