My 'second home' :)

  • 5 of 5

Just come home from our fourth stay here, we have stayed twice in tilleul and twice in les pommiers next door, and once in each season. This place really is so beautiful and peaceful (I unfortunatley suffer from anxiety but whenever I come here it all fades away and I feel completely relaxed). I love getting up early here and sitting with a cup of coffee and watching the sunrise, it really is beautiful. The sounds of all the wildlife too really make you feel at one with nature, the birds in the day and the owls at night. We also love spotting the red squirrels and in summer, we make friends with the cows in the field at the back :) The gite itself is gorgeous inside and is well equipped and has everything you could possibly need. The decor is very imaginaticve and it is clear that a lot of thought and imagination has gone into it. And even though you feel completely in the middle of nowhere, the road links are very close and supermarkets are easy to get to (nearest one is in auffay 2.5 miles away, or dieppe with lots of shops and restaurants is about 20-25 min easy drive away). The owners Martine & Francois are fantastic hosts, they make you feel so welcome and are always there if you need anything- they were kind enough last year to invite us on their big family easter egg hunt followed by drinks in the garden, when we visited in summer once we had taken a paddling pool for the kids, when we returned from a day out one day Francois and Martine were kindly cleaning it out for us and filling it up ready to play in, and then on our visit last week when one of our party had to return early to England, Francois drove us to a local garage where he knew the owner and helped us to hire a car. We regard them as our friends now :) Please do visit here, you wont regret it. And to Martine and Francois, thankyou once again for a lovely stay and we will see you soon :)

Beautiful and characterful Gite

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to Martine and Francois for sharing their gorgeous gite. If you love apples you'll love this place, they must have scoured the Internet for every apple-themed decoration! Our daughter loved all the toys, the wooden train in the garden complete with shelter and timetable was really charming and the open byre was perfect for games. We were able to enjoy apples straight from the tree and some lovely thoughtful planting in the garden including an exquisite Rosa Pierre Ronsard by the door. The gite was equipped with everything we needed and the sofas and beds were really comfortable. We enjoyed having the cows next door and hearing the resident owl. Auffay is the nearest town, which is attractive and has the benefit of being on the train line to Rouen which is just 30 mins away. We also enjoyed Veules Les Roses, paddling pool on the seafront and a beautifully clear river which runs beside the flower-covered houses. The D Day beaches are a couple of hours away but as the motorways are so quiet compared to the UK, it made for stress free driving. The abbey at St Wandrille was amazingly peaceful even though we were there in August and it was only a short walk from the ruins at Jumiege to the Seine where we had a picnic and watched the car ferry. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Our week in a wintery paradise

  • 5 of 5

We found the Gite Pomme Vert, Les Pommiers to be a truly wonderful place to stay. We stayed in the second week of January, the weather was miserable, but that didn’t matter at all. The light pouring through the wall of windows gave the feeling of living in a light bowl. It rained, it blew and it sometimes shone outside and we enjoyed all of mother nature’s display from the toastie comfort of our beautiful Gite. There were so many places to visit in the area but, if we didn’t make it out of the Gite, it didn’t seem to matter, as it was just so comfortable.

The wood burning stove placed in the centre of the room, complete with a whole shed of wood, heated the place so well we sometimes had to cool the place down.

One could literally turn up here with a basket of food and a few clothes. Everything has been carefully thought of and is ready and waiting for you to use.

The interior is also beautifully decorated, very warm and homely. We felt very relaxed very quickly, which was great as we were on holiday.

We have a one-year-old child and even he was catered for. There is a baby changing table, a baby bath, a travel cot, high chair, booster seat, toys, games, a swing, ping-pong, boules, books, the wonderful gardens and we were told some friendly cows in the summer.

Martine and Francois have created a lovely home from home.

Great people, great place to stay, highly recommended, will definitely stay again.

Location de très belle qualité

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Maria & Simon
