What makes this cottage unique

The Heart of the New Forest, Burley is the nicest village in the New Forest with ponies that roam freely, quaint shops and tea shops ,3 pubs and charming surrounds yet easy access from major routes. Craigwen Cottage is a fabulous base to explore the surrounding forest - one of the most beautiful National Parks in the counrty.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful week at your cottage - it was beyond expectation and beautifully presented. With a fair wind we would love to return one day.

The weather was fantastic and we swam every day. Our favourite beaches were Boscombe and Avon - we also visited Swanage, Hurst Castle and the Needles via Lymington. We did manage some Forest cycling early/late in the day but abandoned the scheduled Burley to Swanage ride due to the heat - I'm really glad we chose to drive/ferry instead! Little George is a keen golfer and played twice at the Burley Golf club which he really enjoyed.

Burley is a fantastic location with easy access to all Forest locations and only 15 minutes from Mudeford. The cottage was perfectly located within the village allowing us to walk to get provisions from the shop and to have evening meals at the pubs - we mostly ate at the Queen's Head as it had a varied menu and quick service.

Many thanks for your part in making this a much treasured holiday!

Wow! A real home from home 💜

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic little cottage. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we could not have wished for a better place to stay in the New Forest. The cottage was immaculately clean, wonderfully decorated and fully equipped to cover all necessities. We loved all the extra touches, the welcome goodies, the supply of books and games, the super comfy bedding and the lovely garden. We have a 5 year old and 2 year old who also felt completely happy in this cottage. Such a great holiday home, fantastic location for exploring Burley and the wider area. From initial contact Andrea has been really helpful and friendly. We have stayed at a lot of cottages around the country, and some properties abroad through owners direct, and without a doubt this is the best we've ever found. Thank you!

Lovely property and thoughtful additions

  • 5 of 5

Excellent location close to great pubs, tea rooms, walks and cycling routes. Andrea had prepared the cottage very thoughtfully and the little things (dog towels & treats, quality & quantity of bedding & linens, arrival cake, bread and milk, lovely wine glasses) were fabulous. Looking forward to staying again!

Great cottage in a really good location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was just as discribed ,every thing in the cottage was very welcoming and had a real homely feel it was well stocked with provisions for ourselves and our dog ,

The cottage was in a perfect location quiet but only a short walk to the village of Burley

im glad we picked this village as a tour of the New Forest showed it to be the best village

The only fault with the cottage was the foliage over the front gate I'm really tall and it was catching my head ( sharp rose thorns ) but my wife who is shorter had no such issues

So to sum up a home from home in a great location

Great location within central Burley

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property located within central Burley & easy access onto local cycle paths. The property although centrally located is extremely quiet & found off an unmade road linking two main roads into the centre with no through traffic. The cottage itself is well presented and clean with decent sized rooms. On a sunny day the garden is an additional bonus with front & rear designed to make the most of the weather with a summer House and a variety of additional seating areas.

Stunning scenery, changing seasons and a historic culture make the New Forest National Park a wonderful place to visit at any time of year. Burley is surrounded by the forest but yet has a lovely village atmosphere, making Craigwen Cottage the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country.
