First class accommodation
Delightful cottage with all needs met, adjoining the farm house. Located in a beautiful and peaceful area just a ten minute drive from the town where there are good supermarkets, takeaways and restaurants. There is a conservatory with patio outside the back door and a small stream.
Third time we've been here and feels like a home from home. Just a long weekend this time but have missed the Bakehouse. Chris gave us some wonderful Upper Pant House organic apple juice. This place is toasty and incredibly peaceful, just 5 mins drive to Abergavenny. Only downside was my daughter beat me at chess...again.
Thanks for the review Kate. Hope to see you guys again soon when I’m around.
Beautiful clean cottage
We had a beautiful 4 nights away. Our stay was made more relaxing since the cottage was very clean. The boys really enjoyed the farm and the games supplied in the cottage. It is in the perfect location; close by to beautiful outings.
We hope Chris & Tessa continue their success on their farm.
A warm and comfortable cottage with plenty of character.
We have just got back from an enjoyable 3 night break. The cottage was clean and well equipped but had that lovely rustic edge that made it relaxing. We certainly don't enjoy somewhere too posh where you are constantly worried that the children will break something!
The owners were very friendly and although only a stones throw away they struck just the right level of involvement with us. The Lego and board games kept the 3 children amused and it's only a short drive to Raglan castle, Crickhowell and some beautiful (but steep) walks.
There was limited phone signal (not a problem for us as we welcome the break from constant phone calls) but the WiFi worked well.
We would love to return in the future to 'get away from it all' again.
Andy, Sarah and 3 smaller ones!
Thanks for the kind review Andy
A Gem amidst the hills
My husband and I stayed at "The Bakehouse" for a week in June. Our hosts were very gracious and allowed us to have our own space. The cottage was perfect for us and we had everything we needed. We were glad of the old stone floor which kept the house cool during the heatwave but would be cosy with the old fire and stone fire place in colder weather. It was such a pleasure sitting in the natural garden, with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, overlooking a small orchard with the sounds of ducks and sheep coming from the paddock. Our dog also enjoyed dipping in and out of the stream in the garden to keep cool. The owners work an organic farm and this is also reflected in the cottage with eco friendly washing up products and soaps
The farm is in an excellent location for visiting the towns around the area and there is plenty of opportunity for hiking, strolling and for the more energetic mountain climbing. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in the locality and we were given a list of recommendations which we found very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely book again if we return to the area.
A truly magical stay
We had the most amazing stay. Tessa & Chris were kind, welcoming & lovely! Our boys (5 & 2.5yrs) had the best time & cried when we left. They loved being able to jump in the stream, explore the farm & stroke Shep the dog. The property is great, it has everything you could need, plus a few extras such as washing up liquid & washing powder. It's a 10min drive from town where there's an aldi & Waitrose. We explored a fair amount but also just spent lots of time in the garden & on the farm. I cannot wait to come back & cannot recommend it highly enough, it's such a find!
