Elizabeth purchased this Bungalow in 2014
Why Elizabeth chose Helmsley
We wanted to offer comfort. Having stayed in several holiday cottages and returned home with bad backs and aches and pains, we wanted to offer our guests comfortable beds, bed linen and sofas.
What makes this Bungalow unique
All the accommodation is at ground floor level, there are no stairs to climb. The sitting room looks out onto open countryside to the north and onto the garden to the south.

Home from home
Lovely, comfortable bungalow. Well equipped, comfortable beds. Nice location although building houses across the road but didn't affect our stay. Friendly owners.
Home from home
Great stay in this bungalow - very spacious and the photos don't do it justice. They were the most comfortable beds we have ever had in rented accommodation. It was a lovely south-facing garden which wasn't overlooked and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Would definitely love to return.
Thanks folks for the great review, much appreciated.
A beautifully furnished bungalow in the lovely town of Helmsley
We had the most enjoyable week in this beautiful bungalow within easy walking distance of Helmsley town centre. The bungalow was very well equipped and had a delightful south facing garden, well stocked with a wide variety of flowers and shrubs. It is situated in the lovely town of Helmsley, ideal for exploring the North York Moors and coast.
Dear Mr & Mrs Brice,
Thank you for your review which is very much appreciated. It was a pleasure to meet you both.
Immaculate, well equipped property in a great location with easy access to shops, and eateries
A very comfortable and restful stay. The property is beautifully finished, very well equipped with everything on one level. The location couldn't be better, whether your preference is pottering around Helmsley, or driving and exploring the surrounding countryside.
Would recommend The Black Swan for a traditional Sunday Roast and Geppettos for a very acceptable taste of Italy. The Fish and Chip restaurant was pretty good, as was Desi Spice in Beadlam (just a couple of miles further on). Do consider a visit to Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey - both fascinating. Also the tearooms at the Walled Garden in Helmsley worth a visit.
If time permits Ampleforth Abbey and college are very interesting - you can also make use of the College sports centre with its Pool and Fitness Room.
The owners are very welcoming and very responsive, clearly taking a great deal of pride in the property
Fully recommended for anyone visiting the area.
Wonderful Holiday and Great Place to Stay
The bungalow far exceeded our expectations. The best place my Mother and I have stayed in by far. When we arrived we were met by Elizabeth, the owner, who showed us around and made us feel very welcome. Everywhere was so clean, fresh and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dishwasher a real bonus. As for the walk in shower in the master bathroom, well we both found that amazing. The lounge dinner has plenty of room with comfy seating and a very large TV screen.
Only about 5 mins walk away is the lovely town center with everything you need from bakery, deli, fishmonger, grocers and plenty of places to eat out. We could have spent the whole week not going anywhere and not run out of things to see and do. The castle is a definite must as too the walled gardens, also there is an Arts Center and lots of other shops. There are also plenty of places to see within easy reach of Helmsley.
We had not been to the area before but enjoyed it so much and loved staying in the property that we are coming back next year. Full marks and would definitly recommend it.
A home from home!
Comfortable, cosy and clean is how I would start to describe this wonderful bungalow in Helmsley, in which we stayed with our two children. On arrival we were met by the owners, Elizabeth and Bert, their enthusiasm about the property shone throughout the upkeep of the place itself. The kitchen was well stocked with all equipment we needed, as we cooked most days and of course the dishwasher made this less of a chore! If needed, the house has a washing machine, which we found useful after going swimming at Helmsley outdoor pool, a must to visit when open during the summertime. The southerly facing gardens were beautifully up kept and we were lucky enough to be able to sit out for breakfast and dinner, soaking up the wonderful environment. The lounge/diner were cosy and comfortable, ample of space for us all to chill out in the evenings. Another outstanding point of the property is the walk-in shower in the master en-suite. You will never want leave this invigorating and luxurious shower, which sets you up for the exploring day ahead of the area.
The property is within a short walking distance of the town centre of Helmsley, which there are many superb independent shops. Don't be fooled like we were to begin with in thinking that there were only shops around the market square. There are many nooks and crannies in which you will find many boutique shops, cafés, bakeries, fishmonger and near Cleveland Way car park, an ice cream parlour of which the ice cream is made on the premises! You could spend your entire visit in Helmsley alone, but there are many other day trips to be made; Scarborough, Whitby, Thirsk, Hutton le Hole and Goathland, all host to many places to visit.
This property is somewhere where we would return to without any qualms, everytime, seeing somewhere or some place new. Thank you for such a wonderful holiday!
