Great location!

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 nights here with our 3 older teenage kids. Plenty of room in a great location right in the old town. Apartment was very clean, great showers, very convenient to stores and restaurants. A short walk to go beach and rest of town and hiking trail. Giovanna was waiting to meet us and made everything very easy for us. This was a lovely place to stay and I would definitely go back! Many thanks!

Great location, fair price, but lots of street noise all night (Septmeber)

  • 3 of 5

Our host was prompt and all our communication prior and during our stay was good. The plus of this apartment is that we had beds for 5, 2 bathrooms, a spacious (Italian) kitchen, and the location was nice. I was afraid that it would be far away from the waterfront, but everything is a 3 minute walk. There is no sitting area to speak of (one chair next to the kitchen table) so we treated Laura's bakery across the way as our "living room" for morning coffee and afternoon aperitivo. The downside is the street noise. None of us slept well for the 3 nights we were there in September (Saturday-Tuesday). There are a few bar/restaurants in the two squares which the windows open onto, and of course people (tourists and later the locals enjoying themselves after things closed it seemed) pour out onto the streets; add to that the early morning bottle and trash collection is very noisy. I'm not complaining about the noise - that's what you get in a town like this, but next time we'll look for something a little farther up the hill OR if we want to stay here again, we'll come in more of the off season. We've stayed at lots of independent rentals, and sometimes they are well stocked, and sometimes not at all. This place is the later but no worries, there is a small market just down the hill for toilet paper and olive oil (we were all thankful for the little sugar, salt & pepper packets we'd been collecting :) ) Take your bug spray. Monterosso is a wonderful little town! The hike to Vernazza is awesome, the trains easy to navigate, lots of great food and wine. Our favorite restaurant had yellow rope lights and is to the left -facing the water- of the apt, sorry I didn't catch the name but we ate there twice it was so good! IF you need the medical clinic, it is not very easy to find. Look for the pharmacy (green "plus" sign) where they have a sign posted up with a phone number to call. Take a photo of that sign. Down in the main square (old town) to the left as facing the water, look for the door with the same sign. Take your passport. Also note that the ferries don't run if the water is even slightly choppy so check before depending on them. I'll put some of our pictures on my Instagram for villagetocastle after we settle in home.

Wonderful Stay in Monterosso!

  • 4 of 5

Our group of four enjoyed staying in Giovanna's apartment! I it is large and roomy and provided us with all we needed. The location is superb, right in the middle of the historical area which is exactly where we preferred to be! The first day was quite warm and the air conditioning was fabulous but it cooled down over the days and we didn't really need it as much because the apartment stayed cool. With three bedrooms we could all spread out. We spent late evenings together in the kitchen area. The only reason I am not giving five stars is that every morning the glass recycle truck parks outside the building and is very noisy, although that is not Giovanna''s fault or anything to really do with the apartment. I did notice that some other reviews mentioned that. However, once the truck left we were either awake anyway or just went back to sleep! GIovanna was there promptly since we called from a taxi on our way from the train station. She does not speak much English but was able to communicate well with us. I would highly recommend this apartment. It was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect! Thank you, Giovanna!

Great Location, Cute Town, Little Bit Noisy

  • 4 of 5

Giovanna's apartment was the perfect location, and larger than it seemed in the photos. There were 2 couples and we had plenty of privacy and each had our own bathroom/shower. The fridge didn't really work, but the freezer did. We werent staying that long, so we didn't bother contacting her to get it fixed. The location is easily walkable (about 10-15min) to the train station, but in an adorable part of town.

The two complaints we had was that the wi-fi was not free, nor could you access it in the apartment. You had to go across the walkway to an internet shop and pay for it.

The other complaint was that since the house is right on the street, the trash and recycle trucks came through very early in the morning (5-7am) and the breaking glass was very loud. If you plan on being up at the crack of dawn, its no issue but just something to note if you like to sleep in a bit!

Overall, the house was nice, the AC worked well in the bedrooms, and the location was charming and cute, and Giovanna was kind and responsive throughout the whole process.

Thank you for adding to our trip, we LOVED Cinque Terre!!

Magical visit in Cinque Terre

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was very conveniently located - near a delicious bakery, gelateria, many restaurants and very close to the beaches in Monterosso. We had an easy time walking everywhere. The apartment had a nice layout for four people - it worked perfectly for us. Giovanna was very easy to work with. Thank you!

Loved it

Super cute place, right in the middle of town. The Air Conditioning was a welcome break from the heat! Clean, comfortable, quiet... with LOTS of room for everyone. This place is a gem and the pictures don't do it justice.
