A Gem!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem as we were looking for a place just outside of Paris to enjoy the French countryside. Never did we think we would be so fortunate as to come across Nathalie and her wonderful family and property! Like the other reviewer noted, when we first turned up the driveway, we were immediately struck by the tableau: apple orchard, farm animals (yes, the cat literally ran up the road to greet us!), stunning castle & grounds like a scene out of a painting, surreal!

The rooms in the castle are each exquisite! We were lucky to stay in the Mesgriny but every single room has been redone to maintain its historical significance (including antique furniture, fireplace, restored original artworks) but updated with the most modern luxuries (all the beds, linens, towels are new and top quality including down comforters, cotton bathrobes, large bath towels, etc.) and every bathroom has been refurbished to a level that exceeds many of the high end hotels (free standing bathtubs, towel warmers, beautiful fixtures, double vanities, etc.). Every room has its unique style and color theme; every room was clean and lovingly well-maintained.

I could also go on and on about Nathalie and Gildas' tremendous hospitality. We arrived on a Sun. night thinking that we could just go out for a quick dinner but seeing that we had had a long travel day and that the nearest restaurant would mean getting back into the car, they insisted on serving us dinner. To our surprise & delight, they brought dinner to our room: tomatoes, beets and carrots from their garden; cheese, pate, meats, wine and a host of other foods and drinks from their own fridge. It was the most romantic dinner we'd had of our entire 3-week trip through Fr. and Germ.

Breakfast (which is included) was also amazing. Among many other things, we were served: fresh-squeezed apple juice and home-made apple sauce from their orchard, 3 types of home-made breads, 3 types of home-made jams, fresh eggs cooked to your liking, pate, meats, etc. Because we were the only guests, we were able to spend time with Nathalie and Gildas who are both wonderful and interesting people. They also took the time to give us a tour of the castle.

I would highly recommend this place....perfect for a quiet couples' get-away or a family reunion. There is a family room with a library of antique books, board games, large TV, wifi, beautiful outdoor sitting areas and a vast lawn to enjoy. We absolutely intend to return!

Beautiful, restful, full of charm!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed at this beautiful, delightful chateau and absolutely adored it. Nathalie was a gracious, helpful host. As we first drove up we were charmed by the goats, the orchard, the adorable dogs and kitty. It felt like a night at Downton Abbey. The rooms were exquisite and the breakfast, made by Nathalie, was the best we had during our entire 2 weeks in France. This was a perfect stay, and we wish we had had more time there! I would recommend this place to anyone, particularly families traveling with kids/teens.

Magnifique château très bon acceuil

  • 5 of 5
