A three minute walk straight out the front door puts you standing on a beautiful white sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Beautiful historic Victorian home built in 1900 situated on Second Street in a very established and charming neighborhood graced by lovely plantings including camellias and numerous towering live oaks.
This neighborhood affords the opportunity for great walks with your family or your dog. This home has been completely updated and features the original high ceilings and heart pine floors. A wrap around porch with wicker furniture and a double 'love' swing greet newcomers as they ascend the front porch.
The front door opens to a spacious living room with plenty of seating and television for entertaining. To the left are French doors that open to a lovely front reading room abundant with windows and natural light allowing house guests to get lost in their favorite novel. This room with hard pine flooring and high ceiling is furnished with antiques and tiffany lamps. The cozy couch opens up to a queen sized bed for your invited guests. The oversized formal dining room has a built-in cabinet with hard pine flooring and high ceiling. A wonderful setting to 'wine and dine' your family and guests.
The main floor has two bedrooms each with a queen sized bed and adjoining bathroom. The staircase leads to a separate bedroom upstairs with bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has numerous windows. The beckoning beach and beautiful Gulf of Mexico can be seen in the distance. The room is furnished with two queen beds. A perfect room for a couple with kids or a place for all the kids. Two of the bedrooms have their own TV.
The kitchen is a full sized kitchen including an island with stools and a dining table. The kitchen is the centerpiece of the house and its beauty will pleasantly surprise you. The kitchen's back door opens onto a very spacious wood deck as well as a brick patio both fully furnished with furniture as well as a gas grill. A very beautiful and spacious backyard with live oaks and copious amounts of shade await your coming. The property spans four city lots and therefore has plenty of room for parking vehicles for 'Cruisin' the Coast' and for your boat and trailer or camper.
Downtown Gulfport is a short walk away. If you enjoy long walks the ISLAND VIEW CASINO RESORT is also within walking distance. The gaming destinations along this 26 mile beach are second only to Vegas.
The 26 mile long beach is a gorgeous beach to explore with numerous wharfs, beach activities, shopping, beachcombing, and restaurants. Biloxi with its numerous casinos is just a few minutes away by car, bike or the local transportation.
The beach is home to the charming, small southern towns of Long Beach, Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis which are great for shopping for antiques. The area has over 20 golf courses including one of the 'top ten' public golf courses in the country. The casinos and Biloxi coliseum offer grand entertainment and numerous live shows. The fabulous and historic town of New Orleans is only an hour away.
The Gulfport harbor offers daily excursions to Cat Island. The Gulf Islands National Seashore is only a dozen miles off the coast and affords great swimming and a quiet place to hang out on your boat.

I am a pilot, a Captain with a major airline and have traveled all over the world. In all of my travels I have found the beaches of southern Mississippi to be some of the best and the beaches of the offshore islands are simply beautiful. The southern hospitality in this town is wonderful. My daughter in the picture loves it here in Gulfport.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
We like this area for the beaches and the offshore islands. You can't beat the proximity to the beaches, the golf courses, the casinos and the nearby military bases.
We like to walk the beach in the morning right at sunrise and again in the evening at sunset. We also enjoy walking to the nearby piers and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. We enjoy walking out our front door and crossing the street into the parking lot of the local Italian Seafood restaurant 'Salute' and feasting on great Italian fare and good Italian wine.
For the past 5 years, my husband and I, along with two other couples, have stayed in the Harrison Historical House for the annual car event, Cruisin the Coast. We love this house! It is perfect for our week long event as it feels like being at home.
We feel safe in the neighborhood, which is very important due to the classic cars we bring. The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths to accommodate us. The kitchen is equipped with plenty of glasses, plates, etc for cooking or grilling. It has wifi and cable tv. It has the feel of a grand old Victorian home with all the modern conveniences. It is also walking distance to the beach.
My favorite feature is the front porch swing. Every morning I have coffee on the swing and before dinner I have a glass or two or ???? of wine on that swing.
John, the owner, has always been gracious to us and has made us feel like family.
The six of us, three couples, know that we are lucky to have found a great house and location for our event. And a great front porch swing!!
We have enjoyed this cozy & comfortable house for 6 weeks every February/March while in Gulfport for the horse shows. The living room is appointed with all the amenities needed for the whole family to watch movies on the big screen TV. The kitchen is a delight for the cooks in the group. It is well equipped and beautiful. The bedrooms & bathrooms are nicely appointed with good quality bedding and excellent showers. The back deck was well used during our stay while we grilled and let the dogs have fun in the fully fenced back yard. We have chosen to stay at this property every winter for the past 10 years because it is well furnished, clean & conveniently located and in a charming neighborhood. The street is exceptionally quaint & safe with everything you would want within walking distance: The beach, a wide array of great restaurants, great beignets at the corner drug store & good shopping. Plus the property owners are so easy to work with that we would never rent elsewhere. We will be back this winter and we highly recommend it to other guests.
Love this beautiful house and the owners are so gracious and kind. I hand the pleasure of meeting the family last summer, so kind.! I have stayed at the HHH August .2014 and we had the most beautiful 2014 Christmas in this home and made new memories.! John told us we could decorate for Christmas and we did. That made it even more special.!!! We love to cook so the kitchen is oh so fabulous, with everything and more that you would need to prepare a wonder meal and the grill on the deck is oh so great. We love to sit out back with a cocktail and watch our fur babies run and play in the big back yard. Short walk across the street and your at the beach and a few more steps and your at Jones Park, and downtown Gulfport.
So excited we are headed to the HHH next week for a nine day stay and then we will start counting days before we leave for our visits in Aug. and Dec. Love this house.!!!
The owners were extremely helpful and courteous and very attentive to our needs. We are a high maintenance family and the owners went above and beyond to make us comfortable and situated; very, very helpful. An absolutely gorgeous home and very clean. Loved the kitchen and bathrooms and had lots of space for our big family. Lots of fun on the old style Victorian front porch and had memorable times and barbecues on the backyard deck. Walked to the beach every morning to see the sunrise and every night to see the sunset. Both the grandparents and grandchildren had a FABULOUS EXPERIENCE. Already have made plans for the same time next year.
Beautiful home! Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with the owner. The air conditioner was not working properly, and we contacted the owner 4 times to have the problem fixed. He did not send anyone over to check out the problem until 11pm. Even then, the owner's contractor could not fix the problem. We had to wait until the next morning to have air condition (in 80 degree weather). Also, he controls the temperature over the internet from Michigan (a lot colder up there then in Gulfport, MS). He also has several surveillance cameras around the home. We felt like we were being watched the whole time during the stay. I will never rent from this owner again. Too bad the beautiful home was wasted on a terrible owner. And the owner made no attempt to make up for the lack of service.
