Beautiful villa, panoramic views of sea and mountains, close to town

Bedrooms 6
Half Baths1
Space 3,498 sq. ft.
Property type villa

About the property

6 Bedrooms, 6 bath/shower rooms, sleeps 12

Beautiful villa situated on the side of a mountain with panoramic views of the sea and mountains from every room. Walking distance of the historic town of Almunecar, sea and aqua parc. (Approx. 200 metres to beach from villa!) The villa is very big and can easily accommodate two families. There is enough space for people to spend time together or spread out around the villa with numerous balconies and terraces (shaded or sunny) all with panoramic views. The perfect place to sit and read or just relax with a glass of wine. The villa also has a gym/table tennis room. The swimming pool is situated immediately opposite the villa on a lower level. The pool is shared but is normally extremely quiet. There are numerous tables and chairs around the villa and also sun beds.

Just finished (unfortunately) our holidays in Villa Mimosa; we are a group of friends used to spend holidays in this type of villas ands I can say that it is really a nice location, excellent position well equipped;we spend the holiday in august, so not in the best period, but the position gives the possibility to appreciate the quiet of the place, but very close to the life of Almunecar.

A special word for the professionalism of the owner able to sort out an important issue that occurred quickly and with elegance.

A suggestion to improve: an additional wash basin (maybe external) and a different cooker; the full electric one is a limit

Overall I would recommend Villa Mimosa to other friend

Owner's Response: Glad that you enjoyed your holiday in Villa Mimosa and that you will recommend it to your friends - Thank you. I am sorry you would have liked a different cooker. I must be honest and say we actually like the cooker and have found it quite adequate in cooking for 12 people. If anyone found that they needed another oven then the microwave is actually an oven as well and there is, of course, the barbeque, outside. Regarding the sink. We recently had a little storage room built on the front terrace and there is, in fact, a sink in this room. Unfortunately, they have not, as yet, plumbed this in but this will be done very soon.

property needs interior upgrades.

Villa Mimosa is a nice property. We enjoyed our stay, however, the property is long in the tooth and getting on the shop worn side. The view of the Med is super and I have written the owners and made some suggestions to improve the experience.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay in the villa and thank you for your comments and for giving the villa a 5* rating. We are a little disappointed with the 'shop worn' comment as we have just spent a considerable amount of money having the villa prepared for the summer season and painted inside and outside. We have noted your recommendations and will remedy as appropriate.

One more year, an amazing experience

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this fantastic villa this last august, from 17th to 30th. The experience of spending two weeks of our vacation there has been wonderful, just like the last 3 consecutive years we’ve been renting this house. The situation is unbeatable, the same as the house itself (special mention to the enormous terrace, the amazing sea view from the balconies and almost all the bedrooms, and also to the comfortable living room) and the peaceful atmosphere that has allowed us to make the most of our holidays and find the relaxing time we had been looking for. The easiness for booking and for solving any problem related to the duration of our staying, the cleaning and other facts such as the inclusion of additional beds is definitely another important factor that has made us choose this villa the last 4 years (and some more in the future, we hope). Due to all these things, we sincerely recommend this house to people looking for spending a relaxing vacation time and enjoying a beautiful and lively small town as Almuñecar at the same time.

Tired, dirty and in need of refurbishment

  • 1 of 5

The villa is in a stunning location and initially would have been as described , however , due to lack of investment the villa is in great need of refurbishment even to the point of numerous light bulbs require replacing. The villa is actually two villa's in one.

The first impression was not good with dead flowerbeds and very rusty gates. The villa had been repainted but paint was peeling off doors and shutters and gates hadn't been painted, plus dead flowerbeds, giving an uncared for impression

The kitchen was very small and most unpleasant . It contained

Filthy utensils

Dirty Cutlery

Fowl smelling drawers

Ant infested cupboards

Water damaged units

The bedrooms were not clean, one smelt badly of cats, all except one had lots of ants (some nights in the beds).

The bathrooms were again in need of attention with rusty baths and water damaged units.(one had no light bulbs)

The balcony/terrace/patio had dangerously damaged furniture and exposed electrics. Not very relaxing with young children.

The walk to the seafront ,shops and restaurants was via a very steep hill and only really for fit people so a car is necessary.

The shared pool was very good but had no sun beds or shades.

Overall I felt cheated due to the run down state of Villa Mimosa. I have never yet in 45 years of travel stayed in a place as bad as this and certainly would not recommend this to anyone.

Stay away.

Owner's Response: We are very upset, indeed, about this review as, obviously, all we want is for people to have a lovely time in the villa. Fortunately, most people do and ALL OUR OTHER REVIEWS ARE 5* but every once in a while you come across someone who is determined it is no good and wants money back. This person asked us if he could have 14 people stay in the villa. Normally, we only allow 12 but, as it was a special occasion, we arranged for the rental of 2 extra beds and allowed him 14, and at no extra charge, except for the beds. He never paid us for these beds. He also didn't pay the laundry charge nor the final cleaning charge, leaving us to have to pay our property managers the money which he owed for 14 people. Our property managers had told us that they had a feeling he wasn't going to pay these charges, even before he arrived at the villa as he was saying he knew nothing about them even though they were on his contract. In answer to his comments, all we can say is that we have property managers who open the villa up on a weekly basis and, of course, thoroughly clean the villa and check everything in the kitchen before a rental. We checked with them that they had done this to a good standard and they assured us that they had. We pay a gardener a lot of money to maintain the gardens. We have an annual contract to get rid of the ants. The property manager would have checked for ants before their arrival but, obviously, the ants just turned up. All they needed to do was to call the property manager about the ants and they would have been eradicated immediately. We had just had the villa painted, both inside and out. We leave light bulbs in the villa just in case they are needed while people are staying there. Again, our property manager would check they were working before people arrive. There have not been any cats in the villa. The patio/terrace furniture is good. I stress to people who enquire that the villa is situated on a mountain, so if you do walk into town, it is very steep. People are welcome to take our lighter sunbeds down to the pool and bring them back to the villa when they are finished. There are, of course, heavier sunbeds at the villa which cannot be moved. There is a shade by the swimming pool. My last comment is that on the day this rental left, the people who moved in the same day have rented our villa for the last 4 years and love it there! • 5 of 5

We are just back from a lovely stay at Villa Mimosa.

We went with 10 people, at our arrival there was a pleasant surprise, several bottles wine and some cheese where waiting for us as a welcome surprise.

There are 6 bedrooms, 5 of them have a balcony. Also 5 bad rooms is very conveniently. The terrace is huge, plenty room.

We stayed from 26-9-2008 till 03-10-2008 lovely weather and nice views.

You need a car, the villa is situated on a hill.

We have enjoined our stay en will recommend this villa for party’s who are looking for a luxury villa in a nice surrounding.

A first class break

  • 5 of 5

I wish to say how much we enjoyed staying at the Villa Mimosa - it was perfect for our requirements, which contributed towards what was an enjoyable holiday anyway.

I will certainly recommend it ( and you!), and if we return to the area it will be high on our list.

Almunecar is situated on the Costa tropical which has a micro-climate with sunshine all year. Almunecar town is situated beside the sea with mountains all around. It has a handsome Moorish castle sitting above the town between the mouths of two rivers. Almunecar has managed to retain the atmosphere and character of an old Spanish town with winding narrow streets and tapas bars. To the west of Almunecar is the Punta de la Mona, a pine clad headland sheltering the attractive Marina del Este which is an attractive Marina with interesting shops and several restaurants situated immediately beside the water. There is a range of water sports here. Beyond is the pretty horse shoe bay of La Herradura. Along the coastline are numerous beaches and sheltered coves. To the east is the whitewashed village of Salobrena with the peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. The Sierra Nevada mountains are approximately one hour away, where during the winter months you can ski.

Other Activities: skiing in Sierra Navada Mountains during winter (approx. 1 hour's drive)

Golf: There is a golf course about a 15 - 20 minute drive away.

Ski: During the winter months you can ski in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The ski resort is about 1 hour's drive away from the villa.
