Our village: La Verdière is one of the most beautiful perched and typical villages of the Haut-Var department and is nestled again its castle on top of a hill. It is away from the main tourist roads and is located in the famous Regional Park of the Verdon and the Pays de la Provence Verte. When you arrive in La Verdière, you will be struck by the defensive aspect of its architecture. Racked in a concentric shape around the heart of the village, houses are like high clustered battlements and windows are like arrowslits. When you arrive in the heart of La verdière, it is more serene with flowered facades, peaceful shops and laughs that break out from the windows. Streets are pleasante, tortuous and narrow and yet easily accessible. Step by step, they guide you towards the castle, private estate listed as historical monument and perfectly traditionally renovated by its owner. Each summer, thiss history lover opens the heavy doors of this prestigious fortress of our past. From the church square that is adjacent to the castle, unobstructed stunning views are worth the detour. In the village, you will find: pizzeria with take away pizzas, Asian restaurants with take away meals, traditional restaurant, café, bar and tobacconist, newsagent, bakery, “Utile” supermarket, hairdressing salon, butcher shop (specialist of barbecue meats) and weekly market.
Activities and leisures:

Unexpected richness such as the Route des Lavances, the Route des Vins, the Routes des Crêtes, the Route des Châteaux, visit of villages, artcraft boutiques, vineyards, olive-growing lands, farms, mills, workshops and other factories. You wil discover local products and all the manufacture secrets of lavender honey, olive oil, wines of the Côteaux-Varois and Côtes-de-Provence, coloured Provencal markets, restaurants and tables d’hôtes that will delight you with their Provencal cuisine (truffles, game meat, goat’s cheese, traditional meals, etc.) Discover our handicraft and its manufacture in our workshops: Faïence (earthenware) de Moustiers and Varages, terra cotta tiles of Salernes and other santons, thermal baths and casino of Gréoux-les-Bains, music festivals, National Museum of Prehistory in Quinson, golf courses of Barbaroux in Brignoles and Sainte-Baume in Nans-les-Pins, Saint-Maximin Basilica, the mountains of Sainte-Baume and Sainte-Victoire, etc.
The Regional Park of the Verdon: jewel of our region with lakes and gorges and many water and outdoor activities. The park lies on both sides of the Verdon River, emerald snake that crosses the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Var, over 444800 acres and 44 villages where diversity and stunning landscapes reach record levels. In the Alps, it starts from the Plateau de Valensole, infinite mosaic of sparkling colours (wheat, lavender, sunflowers, poppies and olive trees), and extends to the Haut-Var to end in La Verdière which is so pround to be included into the villages of this wonderful area. A few km from La Verdière, starting from Quinson Lake, you will go up the Verdon Gorge, one of the most beautiful canyons of the world, to discover the 5 lakes including the famous Sainte-Croix Lake which is emerald blue, incredibly beautiful and surrouned by the most beautiful villages of Hautes-Alpes such as Moutiers-Sainte-Marie, and reach the Var department passing through the villages of Tourtour, Cotignac, Aups and many others which reputation is the pride of our region. The Regional Park of the Verdon offers many nature and water activities, from the calmest to the most extreme ones in a stunning environment whose reputation as high place of tourism is no longer to make. The Verdon: border between the Var and Les Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments, the Verdon River is a long turquoise strip. It is a beautiful wild and fast-flowing river for lovers of extreme sports (rafting, hydrospeed, canoying, floating, kayak, rock-climbing or gliding). Over these peacefull banks, the Verdon will show you its beaches surrounding lakes and its coves for the calmest persons and children (swimming, pedalo, electrical boat, sailboarding, canoeing and fishing). Wild coves to sandy beaches, your choices are endless for swimming and sunbathing under the Provencal sun. You will experience exceptional moments in the Verdon River bed! The Verdon Canyon is a giant gash that snakes over 21 km, the greatest in the worl after the Colorado Canyon which name of “Grand Canyon” is taken from. From the Haut-Verdon, leaving behind you Les Alpes-de-Haute-Provence to reach the Var department, you will find the incredible route of Corniche Sublime which access is made by the highest bridge of Europ of 110 m that steps over the canyon and is the perfect place for lovers of bungee-jumping: the famous Artuby Bridge. It takes you more than 500 m above the deep gorge and will offer the most extraordinary views. After your spectacular trip above this breathtaking abyss, the green river opens onto an exceptional site, Sainte-Croix Lake, a stunning place that is worth the visit. A big bridge steps overs the beautiful water to connect one bank to the other. Downhill, the quiet streams of the Verdon peacefully make their way through the low gorges to the quiet area of Quinson where you cannot miss the National Museum of Prehistory. Further down, you can reach the Esparron Lake by pedalo or electrical boat. Beautiful sites are waiting for you. They won’t be as extravagant as the high gorges but you will enjoy the softness of the low gorges where you will have the pleasure to swim in the green water. The fresh water of the Verdon, after a last bridge, leaves the Var and the Alps to join the Durance, the Rhône and finally the sea.
La Provence Verte: the Green Provence is a land with character shaped by the locals and approved “region of art and history” by the Minister of Culture and Communication thanks to its rich heritage. This landscape that gathers together 43 villages starts in the centre of the Var and stretches to the Western Haut-Var to end at the border with Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. This stunning heritage adds to the traditional colours of Provence, the blue of the rivers and the Argens River. Mixed with the yellow sun, it creates the omnipresent green woods on lands dedicated to lovers of nature and outdoor activities. Here local products are pleasant. From the Roman period, plains and terraces are planted with vines and olive trees that offer rosé and high quality oils. This land is aptly named because everything is focused on nature protection. It is no coincidence if Correns, first organic village or France, is located in Provence Verte. Lovers of conviviality, nature, local products, this land was made for you and for your holidays in family, between friends or lovers.
Between sea and mountain: from La Verdière, our most daring guests will find mountain landscapes and ski resorts of the Hautes-Alpes 1 h30 to the North and the Mediterranean Sea, the sandy beaches of Saint-Tropez, Sainte-Maxime, Hyère, Bandol, Poquerolles Islands, the rocky inlets of Cassis or the port or Marseille 1 h to the South.
