A lovely home in the heart of the village

We had an extremely enjoyable stay in this well maintained home which is not a full time rental but the owners home which he lets out for the summer. This house felt like a genuine home from home and not one of the usual spartan holiday homes and was in excellent order. The kitchen was well equipped and had plenty of the usual things you would find at home. The ground floor was open plan and well furnished there was plenty of room for the four of us to sit inside. Upstairs there were 3 generously sized bedrooms each with double beds and one had bunk beds. One benefit we had not anticipated was the air conditioning- there was a heatwave whilst we were there and it was so nice to put it on and take a break from the heat and also cool down the upstairs before going to bed. The pool provided was much enjoyed by our two teenagers I hope the neighbours forgive their noisy exuberance! The garden was a lovely enclosed haven of peace (when the pool was not it use) with shade it the morning and plenty of sun in the afternoon no need to go to the beach to sunbathe should that be your thing. When we ate at home we had a barbecue outside, it was warm enough to eat breakfast out there too. The house is located on a quiet back street no traffic noise - the train track is close but we did not notice the trains at all, just an occasional station announcement! The village centre and shops and restaurants were a short easy walk and the regular markets were in the same streets so easy to get to. Across the road from the house is an excellent restaurant with an English speaking hostess who was a real character. We ate there once (we would have gone again several times but it was booked!) and all enjoyed the excellent Catalan inspired meal which the hostess cooks herself. No menu choices to make just sit down and enjoy! The beach was a 10 minute car drive away (parking was difficult) or a 30 min walk. We would recommend hiring bikes - there are cycle paths and it is an easy ride all on the flat all the way. Overall this was a great location if you want to stay in a village and get away from the hubbub of a touristy beach front.
