Guestbook comments from the owner

I loved the gentle cool breeze wafting through the Villa onto the terraces in the evening after a sweltering hot day relaxing with a sundowner!! I also loved the terraces at different levels giving us a choice for dining!! Great views in front of harvested fields with a splendid view to the coast.

There is a very good street market (Thursdays) in walking distance to stock up on fresh Mediterranean veggies and delicious Serrano ham.

A fantastic wine bodega in Palafrugell - only a short journey away with the largest selection of wines and spirits you've ever seen. Once inside, you may not come out for a week, so be warned!

The Villa has a well equipped kitchen for the budding Jamie Olivers.

Great selection of excellent restaurants. Jean Croft-Baker.

Located in an exclusive and quiet area the property is a brand new traditional style construction to the highest standards both internal and external. The coastline, although 3kms distant, can be clearly seen. Richard Croft-Baker

This creates a refreshing environment which is delightfully cool in the Summer without the need for airconditioning. Sunloungers, seating and tables are situated for use around the pool. One BBQ is movable and there are tables and chairs on the open terraces. A large dining area on the ground floor provides shade and splendid views of the pool, garden and sea - which is framed by the traditional arched architecture. The living room balcony provides outstanding views of the historic town of Calonge and Mediterranean Sea. For reduced mobile bills and PC communications - WIFI is provided.

The photography of this property does not do it justice and we are so pleased we did not base our choice solely on this - the location is spectacular, looking out towards both the coast and tranquil woodland. The villa itself is beautifully maintained and everything of a high standard. We had the most blissful time here and were loathe to leave our gorgeous surroundings most days!

The villa was superbly equipped and furnished, with everything we needed and top quality too. I especially loved the choice of terraces to sit out on, especially the view from the terrace next to the kitchen, on which we spent lovely peaceful evenings with the BBQ.

TV fanatics are catered for too, with BBC1, 2, ITV and C4, along with the UK Freeview channels!

My only comment would be to replace the living room sofa with something more comfy, but this didn't affect our enjoyment overly, as we spent so much time outdoors, soaking in the view.

The agency staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with lots of local information and advice.

A car is needed, to get out and see the lovely coastline and the beautiful inland towns and villages of Peretallada, Pals and Girona and also to stock up on provisions in Calonge and San Antoni. We managed to visit the local restaurants, however the hill leading to the villa, combined with the heat, meant we did use the car more than we intended in the evenings! With this in mind, it is not a villa for the disabled or infirm, due to the stairs and hill. With a rental car however it is not a problem, so older people can still enjoy the place and the peaceful location.

The local tourist board is an excellent source of information for maps, events, things to do, etc and there is something for everyone in the area - adventure seekers or chilled holidaymakers, there's lots to do or watch or visit within driving distance. In the immediate area, it is a walker's/cyclist's dream.

The villa has no air conditioning, but on opening the windows there is a lovely breeze running through, which more than compensated for it.

I would recommend the villa to those of all ages, looking for peaceful and private surroundings, who are not fussed about being in a central location - for us it was a truly blissful stay and we would definitely return and recommend it to our friends - thank you Tony!

Owner's Response: A very much appreciated and thorough review of Villa Antoni. I agree it is so difficult to catch how spectacular the location is in a website pictures - or how comfortable the Villa is. We are so pleased that all our guests react in the same way to the Villa and its location - its always very good to know that they want to return.

Great villa for family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We were 6 adults and 2 children from 68 to 11 year who spent splendid holidays in Villa Antoni the two first weeks of July. The villa is spacious and well equipped. We specially enjoyed the lovely garden with the pool, and the many places to relax. The large covered terrace was perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the evening we used the barbecue to make delicious food bought in one of the many mercatas in the area or in the marked of Calonge. The view from the terrace was really beautiful. Although we spent a lot of time at the villa, we also explored the area with the beautiful coastline and villages. We specially liked Calella de Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guixols, Pals and Palamos. Girona was also a very nice city. We recommend Villa Antoni for families who want to have relaxing holidays in beautiful surroundings.

Relaxing stay in Calonge

  • 5 of 5

For the last 20 years we have holidayed together as two families for a week or two and we decided that this is now our favourite villa. The views from the balcony were idyllic and we enjoyed eating there each evening in the cool breeze. We did a bit of exploring from the villa, beaches and tennis courts were close at hand and were given an excellent tour of the local winery despite the family being very busy with their first harvest.

Perfect family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Antoni for our family vacation - 7 adults and two kids.

The villa had everything we needed, and was the perfect base for a family vacation. The villa is even nicer than in the pictures, and everything was in order when we arrived and were welcomed by Sr. Josep. He was very helpful with any requests, and maintained the property during the week as well.

We enjoyed the pool (especially the kids) and the wonderful terasse with a welcoming breeze, shade and view - perfect for the Spanish summer heat! We had all our meals at the big table at the terrasse, and were able to watch the kids by the pool from up there as well.

The house is very well located for exploring the area. We went on bike-rides, swimming at picturesque beaches and walks along the beautiful coastline. There are many charming villages to visit in this area - along the coast and inland.

I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to visit the Costa Brava, or just have a relaxing time enjoying the Spanish summer.

I want to come back!

  • 5 of 5

I wish I could be there now.

We enjoyed a fantastic long weekend at the villa, taking advantage of the Bacchus by Bike tour which was tailored to our interests and abilities perfectly. The variety of the routes, wines and producers was amazing. Oh and I mustn't forget the food - great care is taken by Tony and Josep Maria. We were even inspired enough to buy a plancha grill and paella pan when we got home!

The villa was a great place to return to after a long day out - so relaxing and peaceful. One of my favourite aspects was the roof terrace view, a great place to survey the surrounding area - stunning green hills and beautiful blue sea.

It was so easy to get there, but felt a million miles away. We shall definitely return, but perhaps with a car so that we can then return home with a bit more food and wine than we managed to take on the plane.

Thank you for a great holiday.

Owner's Response: Linking the Bacchus wine tours with a stay at Villa Antoni is clearly proving to be a great success - but this no surprise - with one of the best vineyards in Spain (Mas Gil - Clos D' Argon) 10 minutes cycle ride away and the neighbouring Mas Ponsjoan - where in addition to great wine you are able to purchase daily harvested seasonal fruit and vegetables. Our guests discover benefits of the Baix Emporda which many of the locals are unaware of! Villa Antoni has 12 top vineyards in easy cycling distance, and many restaurants, work with the local wine producers to provide the opportunity to become accustomed with outstanding Catalan gastronomie. Come and discover the Emporda from an exceptionally well located villa.

Lovely very well equipped villa.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely spacious villa. Very well equipped. Lovely balconies and barbecue areas overlooking the hills and the sea. The Pool and terrace have great views too. The Garden is amazing and cleverly planned with beautiful roses and many other trees and plants. The beaches and hills and good local restaurants are easily accessible with a car.

Owner's Response: The large covered terrace is a particular feature of Villa Antoni, open on *3 sides and South facing it benefits from a Sunny out look from Sunrise until Sunset and provides the perfect location for a 'Sun Downer' while enjoying the exceptional views. We are so pleased that this recent addition to the Villa is so popular with our guests.

Calonge Saint Antoni
Car: recommended

For those who seek variety, Villa Antoni is walking distance from the medieval town of Calonge with its castle, ancient church, restaurants and wide range of shops; including supermarkets and weekly street market (Thursday). There are a wide selection of beautiful clean and safe Costa Brava beaches with the variety spanning from sandy beaches to quiet secluded coves, the nearest beach is approximately 3km away in St Antoni, Calonge. In addition to its beach the Town has an excellent range of restaurants, tapas bars, night clubs and designer shops. In the same vicinity; an abundance of attractions can be found in the city of Palamos and Plaja D'aro for those who enjoy a bit of 'retail therapy' and - or 'clubbing'!

Golf: As already highlighted - there are are a number of top golf courses in the area: seven 18 hole courses that are circa 30 minutes drive from the villa. Of these seven; two of them (Emporda and Pals) hosted the 2003 European qualifying school and an LPGA event. They vary from links to woodland and are all reasonably priced and in excellent condition If you are in need of some practice, then the facilities at Mas Nou, which is the nearest course are excellent. Handicap certificates are usually required. But, it is the reputable; beautiful weather that makes playing golf all year round such an enjoyment and attraction for those staying at Villa Antoni.
