It is located on the foothills of the Haut-Atlas 37 km away from Marrakech on a 1.3 hectare ground in the middle of nature with a small heaven and a chilling area to share. Two tiguemis (Berber houses) are for rent. The tiguemis are typical, traditional houses which are built in clay, stone, reed and wood. We have been waiting for two years to recuperate ancient doors and windows necessary to the construction of the tiguemis. The tiguemis with their adobe walls and their clay roofs are harmoniously integrated to the site. Our tiguemis are appointed for four people. They offer beautiful spaces with a Berber decoration, handmade furniture, coloured carpets, bibelots and local paintings.
This was our second holiday at Tiguimi. It is a real piece of paradise. We loved it so much the first time, we went back (we rarely go back to the same place twice, however good it is!). It was even better the second time around. Rachida, and her team; Hafida and Omar are so warm and welcoming. We walked in the mountains during the morning - after Hafida's lovely homemade flakey flatbreads and tea made from herbs from the garden (perfect!). Afternoons spent by the pool, looking at the stunning mountains - we will never tire of that view! Dinners cooked by Hafida were always excellent - we love good food and our expectations were surpassed. We had great fun buying the ingredients and none of the hassle of cooking.
The houses are immaculate and well cared for with real Berber rugs and decor. So comfortable and relaxing.
Listening to the sounds of real Morocco. Rachida is a fellow animal-lover and I completely fell in love with the docile-donkey! We felt very safe in the mountains, villages, and local town. People were so friendly.
We miss it already and looking to plan our third trip. Thank you Rachida, Hafida & Omar!
What a wonderful and beautiful Berber houses on this beautiful property! The view is wonderful! And what a pleasure to eat every morning and evening on the lovely terrace outside. A couple of evenings we watched the stars on the roof of the terrace with our kids, they loved it! They had never seen that many stars. The pool is very large and very clean. This is excellently maintained by Omar. The houses inside are authentic and relaxed and are very complete. The surroundings are beautiful and there is much to see and do. A rental car is highly recommended.
Every morning we went to get bread and other small groceries in the little shops down the road. What a nice people here! It was wonderful to meet these people and to see the kids next school play. We were an attraction for them ;-)
Rachida, Omar and Hafida: you have a beautiful place, and you are working very hard to keep it wonderful. Rachida, thanks for all the good advice what we could see and do in the area. It was great to meet you!
We have had a fantastic holiday together with our children aged 2 and 4 years.
hopefully see you in the future!
Regards Ilse, Bram, Malou & Joppe
We cannot rate this house highly enough. The pictures really do not do it justice. The house was clean and well maintained. There is a guard/handyman/cook about all the time who was lovely. The dog was also very friendly and calm.
The 3 houses in this compound are absolutely stunning, done up so they are comfortable but authentic. The area was beautiful, we enjoyed the roof terrace above the outside dining area, and the pool area is beautiful. We took advantage of the cooked meals which were all amazing, incredibly tasty Moroccan food.
The village is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful views of the Atlas Mountains. There was plenty of interesting wildlife, tortoises, geckos, frogs, birds etc.
The village has a tiny shop where we bought water, baklava, bread, fruit & veggies. The nearby town had everything else we needed.
Nothing was too much trouble for Rachida and her husband. They gave us some suggested trips, the mountain roads and the waterfalls at Setti Fatma were easy to find and so beautiful. We rented a car, however, Rachida arranged for a lovely man to pick us up from the airport and drove with us which was really helpful as finding it on our own would have been tricky the first time! He also gave us some tips about where to get it washed etc.
We have recommended to all our friends and family as the best way to visit Morocco. We had a wonderful 5th Wedding Anniversary here. I also think it would be suitable for families as the houses are cool and comfortable and the gardens an oasis.
Sick of the tourist industry in Marrakech? If you want to experience Moroccan village life, look no further! The cottage is located on a very well maintained compound just outside of a tiny village, surrounded by the stunningly beautiful Atlas mountains. It's a great place to explore the nature and to experience life in the country side. Walk to the village store for some small basic groceries, or walk to the main road (about 15 minutes) and stop a shared taxi to Agrab, where you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and anything else you need (for non tourist prices). We stayed a week with our 2 young children (2 and 4 years old) and enjoyed the pool, the sunny terrace and the hospitality of the owner. There are 2 similar vacations homes on the compound, so if these are booked you'll have to share some of the facilities. There is a very friendly dog on the compound, but our children were afraid of her, so keep this in mind if this applies to you too.
Overall, this place was the best part of our 2,5 week trip to Morocco!
From your doorstep, you can go on beautiful hikes and discover many Berber villages surrounding the Amrhlij Village. A few hours away from the village is a well-appointed ski resort called Loukeimeden at 3200 m of altitude. Toubkal, the highest mountain of Morocco of 4167 m to make on three days for those who love climbing; is just wonderful. Essaouira is Morocco’s Brittany. You will find several souks. A famous trader market is in Scorpion 6 km away from the house. You will find a lake for those who love fishing and nice restaurant. The natural bridge is wonderful for those who love taking pictures from where there are beautiful pictures to take. We propose you various activities: tadelakt course (coloured lime plaster), pottery course, kitchen traineeship, line fishing, Berber cooking classes as well as a course for making Berber rugs, quad biking, skiing, cycling, and trekking in 4x4 in the south.
