Mike and I lived and worked in the Chicago area for all of our lives. Mike was in Industrial construction and I was in real estate. We have traveled extensively and decided to settle in Tennessee for the second half of our lives. We found Wears Valley, one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited, and decided to make it our home. We love the cabin and want others to experience the magic. Its our only cabin so it gets all of our attention. Only our grand-kids get more.
Mike and Cathy purchased this cabin in 2004
We chose Wears Valley for the outstanding beauty and its close proximity to the Smoky Mountain National Park and Pigeon Forge. We can enjoy all the shopping and attractions, but return to the peace of the valley in 10 minutes. We made our home here after retiring from the Chicago area, and could not be happier.
We don't stay often at the cabin as it is usually booked, and we live only a mile away. But every so often we will spend the night just to enjoy the beautiful views, and relax on the deck. It is such a pretty spot, and easy to get to. It is not sitting on top of a mountain, but it still has incredible views. Life is perfect when at the cabin.
This beautiful cabin was the perfect place to retire at the end of our busy days of shows, Dollywood, Cades Cove, horseback riding at in Townsend, hiking to Laurel Falls, tubing, and so much more in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The location makes it so easy to get around, and was centrally located to all of the activities we were interested in. It was so comfortable and stocked with everything that we needed! The towels were incredibly plush! We grilled out one evening, and had many meals on the back porch looking out at the mountain view. The kids (7 & 9) really enjoyed the hot tub, and Mike was thoughtful in that he had adjusted the temperature lower (prior to our arrival) to accommodate! We all enjoyed the family movies and games. The pool is a very short drive down the road, but was well maintained, and the attendant was extremely friendly. You can also purchase pretty good food there (pork sandwiches (cooked there), nachos, hot dogs). The fishing pond was stagnant, but that didn't stop my husband & another guy that happened along from catching fish. The neighbors around the cabin are delightful. One while sitting in a rocker on her front porch, waved each time she saw us , and the other (a beekeeper)waved the occasional other car past when we stopped our vehicle in the middle of the road to chat with him! If you want a comfortable, cozy, authentic mountain experience, this cabin is tops! We couldn't have had a better vacation, and we certainly want to return to Mountain Magic the next time we vacation in Pigeon Forge
Our stay at Mountain Magic was a great experience. Mike and Cathy have provided all the extras you could ever need! Main bedroom mattrerss was very confortable. The back porch provided a great view of the Smokies. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin .
Everything was perfect, they had anything you might need. It was so much more than I imagined.
The cabin is perfect. The owners are clearly dedicated to providing a cabin that feels like home. It is clean, very well decorated, and totally warm and inviting. And the location is perfect for "back porch sitting" to enjoy the beautiful views.
The cabin is absolutely beautiful! Owners went above and beyond on everything even decorating the cabin. It felt like a home not like a rental at all. Would love to stay there again in the future.
Mike & Cathy,
This was our second visit to your cabin and we thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay. We stayed in a cabin just down the road from you in August '15 only because yours was booked. There is no comparison between the two. What makes this cabin unique in our minds is that you take great pride in providing a clean, quiet and comfortable cabin that is stocked with everything. We are amazed at the incidentals that you provided that even some of the finest hotels do not offer.
We definitely plan to return and will recommend this cabin if people happen to question us about a great place to stay in the Smoky's.
We look forward to our next visit.
Phil & Nancy K.
This was our second stay at Mountain Magic. Even though the weather was disagreeable, we had a great time. Mike and Cathy don't miss a thing in preparing the cabin for guests. They have all of the essentials as well as a great number of little added surprises. The cabin itself is wonderful. The location couldn't be better...convenient to everything but secluded and quiet. We can't wait for next October to get here for our next trip.
A local swimming pool is available for $5.00 a day, this includes catch and release fishing ponds. Dollywood, Water Park, Skiing, Smoky Mountain National Park, Helicopter Rides, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, tubing, great dining and shopping. NASCAR go-carts, Out-let Malls, Arts and Crafts community, lots of great shows and attractions. Zip lining and the newest attraction is mountain sledding. See the new Hollywood Wax Museum with King Kong on top of the building. SMOKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK of course is the biggest attraction. Enjoy Cades Cove, a truly unique experience. Horseback riding, and carriage rides in the Cove. Beautiful picnic area.
