Well equipped, comfortable, ideal location
We had a wonderful stay in Lucca. This was probably the best equipped holiday apartment we have stayed in in Italy (dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, etc.). It has old-world charm and is a real apartment, comfortably furnished with proper eat-in kitchen, living/dining room and two bedrooms. The landlady Iacopella lives in the same building across the hall; she was welcoming and friendly. We particularly appreciated that she helped us practise our Italian by listening to us and making the effort to speak to us slowly in Italian.
The apartment is not air conditioned, but stayed comfortable even though the days were quite hot - we followed Iacopella's advice and closed up during the day. It is on a fairly busy road. There is a back bedroom and a front bedroom; there were only two of us so we slept in the back bedroom and closed the front windows at night, which was fine. The front bedroom might be a bit noisy though. One can hear trains from the back but they only seemed to run in the daytime and evenings, so weren't a problem. The location is ideal if you are driving - a short walk from the city walls of Lucca yet not far from the autostrada. The private parking is down quite a narrow alley, so one does have to be careful!
Mosquitoes - inevitably there are some but Iacopella set us up with electric mosquito killers and they were very effective.
Another reviewer mentioned the water pressure. We agree that it was on the low side, but we found it sufficient for a good shower.
It was very nice to host Ethan and Pamela, they speak Italian and love Tuscany.
I recommend them as hosts at all. They are welcome back any time .
Spacious apartment 5 minutes walk to station and Lucca city
The apartment is very well presented on the first floor accessed by even steps with wide treads in a large home dating back to 1870. It has been suitably modernized, the kitchen has all the utensils one could want. There is plenty of storage space for clothes. The cheerful owner lives along side and was very quick in overcoming the hot water problem we experienced with the shower. There is a large backyard which enables secure car parking. There are good pizza restaurants within 100 meters, in fact shops, supermarket and banks are all close by. There is no air conditioning, however good night time cooling is achieved through large open windows, this leads to one criticism - mosquitoes are annoying!
Graeme and Jenny were wonderful guests , very nice and correct people. They took excellent care of the apartment and they left it in perfect order. They are welcome back any time!
Great location; private parking (small car only!), spacious; small bathroom; water pressure sporadic
You couldn’t find a better location other than inside the City walls (when parking would be a problem). Well equipped kitchen - pots, pans, dishwasher, washing M/C etc. Very large bedrooms, very nice host. The only issue was water pressure which was sporadic and not easy for showering, but we suspect this may be a general issue in the area. We would definitely consider staying in this apartment again the next time we revisit Lucca, which is a great base for touring Tuscany.
J. and his wife was very nice and correct guests, they took excellent care of the apartment, they left it in perfect order.
They are welcome back any time|
We spent three pleasant months in the apartment. It is spacious, immaculately clean and comfortable, with the most well-stocked kitchen we have ever seen in rental apartments (and we travel a lot). The apartment has a balcony overlooking a large garden, which is also accessible to renters. Rooms even have a nice view of the surrounding mountains. The location, which is absolutely perfect, is close to everything, starting from the city center (only a few short minutes walk away), the train station, coffee shops, a pizzeria, supermarkets, and much more. And one of the most lovely things about the apartment is the landlady Iacopella herself, who is most helpful, accommodating, charming and amiable. We felt at home and would definitely recommend this apartment to any traveler visiting Lucca, single or with family, for a short-term or long-term stay.
Igor and Olga
It has been a real pleasure to have Olga and Igor as guests for three months. They are an attractive and interesting couple, they love art and Italy and it was very pleasant to converse with them. They are learning Italian and we have become friends.
I found them kind and cooperative. Olga took great care of the apartment and Igor often helped me move the very heavy recycling bin outside on the sidewalk.
I really recommend them as ideal guests!
Enchanting stay at Casa die Magni
Our stay was for 5 weeks during September and into October. The apartment is a spacious, light-filled property. All the rooms are well furnished and comfortable. Lots of wardrobe space in the bedrooms. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery, glasses, equipment, pans, utensils, etc. There is a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave and a good bathroom. Plus a store room: everything was thought of even down to mosquito repellant.
There is a little balcony at the back facing the large garden which has a beautiful chestnut tree, various fruit trees and an old well. A great place to enjoy your morning coffee and croissant or a light lunch. It has a space for your car here too keeping it off the road and safe and as we had our daughter popping down to see us with her new baby she could park too which was a great help.
But what helped to make our stay so very pleasant was our lovely hostess, Iacopella. She is charming, easy to talk to and very welcoming. The Villa is a beautiful old building with a lovely staircase. There are other people living there and we were lucky enough to get to know our neighbour upstairs as well as Iacopella - who loved having a baby on the premises.
The station is 5 minutes walk away so catching a train, as we did, to Florence was no problem. It is also very easy to get out of Lucca from there by car to visit all the beautiful places surrounding Lucca. One can walk over the bridge into Lucca in 5 minutes and there is also an underpass which takes you there as well, for the less able.
Barbara and Chris
Chris and Barbara were really wonderful guests, with their nice daughter and her lovely baby: They took great care of my apartment and they are welcome back any time. It was really a great pleasure to have known them!
Very clean appartment. It is in excelent condition. The location is great. Near the train for trave
We arrived very late, but were made welcome. The house is old style on the outside which is great. It has all the modern items you require and all work perfectly. it is very near the train station and the old town of Lucca (just a short walk). We traveled from Pisa airport with no problems. There is lots of space in the apartment and a garden out the back of the house.
Would I stay there again: YES
The owner lives in the house in their own apartment and was available if we required assistance, but outside of that we only waved when passing. The house has history and charm. Shops are close by, car not required.
It was a pleasure hosting Eamonn and his nice family, they took excellent care of my apartment and they are welcome back any time. I recommend them as guests at all.
The house is close to the motorway exits (Lucca East or West) easy to find. At 20 km the airport of Pisa, 70 km the airport of Florence. The train station is 5 minutes walk. The historic center of the most evocative of Tuscany five minute walk. Churches and squares. Museums. The house of Puccini. Excellent restaurants. Beautiful walk the walk or bike on the beautiful tree-lined walls or even in the River Park River Serchio .A 20 km Viareggio with the walk Liberty and beaches, Forte dei Marmi, chic resort to markets and shopping. Torre del Lago. In Collodi Pinocchio Park.
