House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
The 'Round' House is a beautiful private home situated on 180 feet of Caribbean beachfront with mountain views of the Honduran mainland and Oyster Lagoon (aka Lower Lagoon). The dock access is in Oyster Lagoon and is just behind the house. The beach gently slopes into Utila Bay, with coral reef the full length of the beach and an 80 foot drop off less than 100 yards from the house, providing a beautiful area to swim, snorkel, and shore dive. This fully equipped home with two bedrooms is perfect for two couples or a family.
The house features a wrap around covered deck, extending 8 feet on the bay side, perfect for watching the sunset over the lagoon and sunrise over Utila bay. It also affords views of the reef and its 'creatures', mountain range of the mainland, and a beautiful view of Utila town across the bay. The deck has a mahogany porch swing, table, chairs and hammocks. The lagoon side dock is perfect for watching the bird and animal life on the lagoon or launching a kayak or being picked up for a charter boat ride.
The air conditioned bedrooms are spacious. The master bedroom contains a king size bed or opionally 2 twin beds, plus a full-size bed, sitting area, walk-in closet, and private bathroom. The second bedroom contains a double closet and includes two twin beds or a king size bed. Both bathrooms include two sink vanities and full bathtubs with shower facilities. With windows circling the house it is airy and light.
There are bay views from every room except the master bedroom, which looks over the lagoon and its surrounding mangroves. The house is furnished throughout with comfortable rattan furniture and has a large modern kitchen, dining area and living room.
Below the house is a large 'bodega' which houses the laundry facilities (washer and dryer), two large water tanks and the hot water heater. Water is supplied by the municipal well and also a private well for backup purposes.
The landscaped grounds, on the sandy beach, are full of local flowering shrubs, shade trees, and palm trees; plus an ever green privacy hedge. The grounds are maintained by Angel, our English speaking home caretaker and wonderful friend. Angel helped build the house and has been with us ever since.
The 'Round' House is located on approximately one half acre on a peninsula in Blue Bayou. It is just a five minute bike ride or 15 minute walk from the west end of Utila town and the public beach area. You will be just far enough out of town to provide privacy and solitude, but just a mile away is our charming town with restaurants, bars, dive shops, stores, internet/phone services, grocery stores, and the friendliest local population you will find in the entire Caribbean!
The house is cleaned weekly with linen changes. Liji, the property manager is extremely friendly and will help you in any way she can. Shee will ensure you have butane for cooking, your drinking water delivered, and let you know where you can get anything else you want or are in need of.
We also have kayaks for 5. One double, and three singles.
Please contact Sue with any questions. I am the owner, live on the island year round, and am happy to assist you. Once you reach Utila, Lijia will meet you and help you get to the house. You also have our cell phone numbers and prepaid cell phone to contact us during your stay.

I fell in love with Utila the moment I landed. Moved here in 1994 and never left! I have taught school and run serveral business in town. Now I am semi-retired and enjoy managing my rental homes and helping others plan their adventures in Utila.
Owner purchased this House in 1998
Why Owner chose Utila
My family built this home in 1998. I have enjoyed living on the beach for many years, but also wanted a home in the country side. Now I enjoy the best of both worlds while sharing the beachfront 'Round House' experience with others who wish to vist Utila.

The Deck of Dreams!
This was my family's first trip to Utila and it exceeded our expectations! The "Round House" was, in our experience ( and what we saw of other Utila rental houses) the BEST house. Specifically, the deck. We basically "lived" on that deck. It has 2 hammocks, swing bench and table and chairs. The breeze that comes across it is soothing and refreshing. We could watch sting rays, crabs, moray eels, baby barracuda and a family of "Swampers" all from the deck. Snorkeling is great right from the house. The well appointed house is comfortable and equipped with everything one might need - even coffee, soda and beer! :-) The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the easy walk into town and catching a TukTuk for a ride home was as easy as standing on the road side for a minute or two. We would also recommend a visit to the Iguana research center, as we learned a lot about the island and all the work being done to keep it's wildlife and environment healthy.
Sue, the home owner is a gracious host and cares about her renters. We would highly recommend this house and hope to come and stay again in the future!
Love The Round House
The Round House is beautiful. Susan and Blanca were wonderful. Wonderful mornings on the deck overlooking the water with our morning coffee. Walk right out to snorkel the reef, how can you beat that. We will definitely book our next vacation to Utila at the Round House.
Great comfortable location.
Porch is perfect to lounge in the hammock. AC at night works great. Great snorkeling in front. Well worth it! Blanca was attentive .
Heaven is a hammock!!
My husband and I just left Round House after a wonderful first visit to Utila. We are usually very adventurous and want to see and do everything in a new place; however, we were both run down, work- exhausted and badly in need of some relaxation. The hammocks on the porch of Round House were the perfect answer! We loved snorkeling (GREAT in front of house!!), visiting Water Caye, lunches at Neptune's, people-watching from restaurants in town but we managed to return to our own special haven every afternoon for the perfect siesta location with an unbeatable view. Sunrises were equally wonderful and we logged some serious "hammock time"!
The house was well equipped, clean and comfortable with great air conditioning in the bedrooms. The local restaurants were so incredibly affordable that we never cooked beyond making coffee in the mornings and cocktails in the afternoons but everything one would need was there. Sue was a fabulous hostess who was readily accessible if needed.
I wholeheartedly recommend this rental as a comfortable place with a very convenient location (we do recommend a golf cart if you want to see the whole island easily), wonderful view, and helpful, responsive and attentive owner in Sue.
We will be back and will send our friends!!!
We recently stayed at the Round House in March 2017 and really loved our stay. The property is right on the water and has wonderful views of the bay and Honduras mountains in the distance. The home is well stocked and even has a washer/dryer. Our favorite place was on the wooden swing on the front deck, watching the eagle rays that visited. We rented a golf cart and had fun driving around Utila town. Sue (the owner) and Angel (the caretaker) were a pleasure to deal with. The use of kayaks were a bonus too.
We leave this piece of paradise in the morning - wish it wasn't so. Well appointed home with two bedrooms and two full baths. Three beds that would accommodate three couples nicely with spacious interior and an enormous deck (which we spent most of our time on). If you cook, the kitchen has most everything you need (bring spices). Nice island for food preparation and a six person interior table for meals. Washer and dryer in a separate downstairs room if needed.
Fantastic snorkeling right in front of the home. Bring socks for snorkeling as the shore is somewhat shell ridden. Iguanas bask in the sun on the property and enjoy being fed fruit or bread and they most certainly are not afraid of human interaction. No mosquitoes but the no see-ums are plentiful. Use a fresh cut lime to take away the sting and triple antibiotic ointment to rid yourself of the red dots.
Angel, an all purpose handyman for the property will take very good care of you. He's personable and speaks English well and is a very nice man. Sue, the owner, lives just behind the roundhouse and is accessible if a problem arises.
We will definitely stay here again. It's just outside of town with very little traffic and away from the loud night life exhibited in town. Rustic living at it's finest!
The Coral View Dive Shop is a 2 minute walk down the beach road. They provide tanks for shore diving and lights for night snorkels. They are a full service dive shop with a friendly and experienced staff and good equipment and boats. . Whaleshark watching/snorkeling availabe certain times of the year through all dive shops and/or the WhaleShark Center (WORSOC) and also with charter boats - ask owner for more information. Charter boats rides around the island or to the Cays. Stand Up Paddle Boarding .
