There’s parking nearby, and in the winter your luggage will be ferried across the piste to the chalet. You’re just 500m from the La Clusaz skiing domain, where you’ll find restaurants, a supermarket, sports shops, a bakery and an more. NOTE: cleaning, linen & towels included.

WHAT MAKES CHALET CAPIEU SO SPECIAL? This spacious apartment is one of three in Chalet Capieu, a converted traditional farm. It’s the perfect place for 2 families, sleeping up to 12 in 4 double bedrooms/bathrooms. The Nordic-style decor is both comfortable and practical, and the open plan living area, with a dining table and a well-equipped kitchen, is a cosy refuge when the snow is falling. There’s a large terrace with space to eat out, or perhaps enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub as the sun sets behind the mountains.

About Lionel Cugnet

When my father bought Chalet Capieu in 1970, the fields were pasture in the summer and untouched snow in the winter. At that time there was no electricity or water and it had been left abandoned for a number of years - the property was nothing like the chalet you see today.

In 1972 the first two drag lifts were installed and the area started it’s transformation into a bustling sector of the La Clusaz / Le Grand Bornand ski area. Little by little, more lifts were added, and now the chalet is surrounded by 7 drag lifts and a chairlift all directly connected to the Croix Fry ski sector and the whole of the rest of the La Clusaz resort.

With the development of the resort, in 2001, we decided to renovate the chalet. The whole building was lifted, the old cheese cellar was removed and replaced with a concrete floor and new foundations. New walls were put in dividing the chalet into four apartments of which Chalet Capieu is the biggest. We’re still making improvements today. We’ve recently put new windows in the living room to make the most of the light and the fabulous views, but the latest addition is the Jacuzzi on the sunny south-facing terrace. It’s a great place to wind down in the evening, overlooking the slopes and the mountains beyond.

Chalet Capieu is perfectly placed to enjoy all of the areas facilities, it is within walking distance of a commercial centre that has a ski school, ski hire, shops, bars and restaurants and is under a 10 minute drive to the centre of La Clusaz itself. The chalet is right on the piste - truly ski in / ski out - plus it has the most incredible panoramic views of the slopes and across to the magnificent Etale and Mont Charvin mountains. The sector is great for families, but also offers plenty of challenges for more experienced skiers, as it is part of the La Clusaz/Le Grand Bornand circuit.

What makes this chalet unique

We’ve tried to make sure that everyone has their own space at Chalet Capieu, while the large communal areas mean you can all get together to enjoy this stunning and unique location.

And of course there is the hot tub facing the slopes, and the piste / walking trails starting from the chalet's door...
