Perfect for a Monopoli visit
Me and my husband (58 and 55 years old) stayed in Monopoli for 10 days. We had a great time and were surprised over how vibrant the city was in the evenings! Our visit was in the end of June and lots of events were going on in the evenings like live music in many places.
Alessandros flat is perfectly located, close to the water and in the middle of the beautiful old historical center. Even though it is close to restaurants and a popular walking streets, the flat is facing a small quite backstreet so we were not disturbed. When you sit at the balcony it feels quite private even though you can see people 25 meters away. Right outeside the building is a nice walking street, it is close to a grocery shop. A short walk to the swimming area and beaches.
To reach the flat it is one flight of stairs to climb, to reach the roof terrace there are two more.
We found the flat nicer than the pictures shows. From the living room you can reach the balcony, the same balcony that you can reach from the bedroom. Kitchen is small but sufficent, we had all our dinners at restaurants and only made breakfast at home that we had at the balcony. The bathroom is quite big, good space. The bedroom is beautiful with the painted tiles at the floor and the ceeling, high up like five meters up from the floor, gives the flat a feeling of space. The only windows are the balcony doors, one in the bedroom and one in the living room, that was great. In the warm weather we kept the doors closed and that made it possible to keep the flat cool without using the AC. Another positive thing - if you close the doors you can make it reallay dark and silent for a nice sleep!
The AC in the living room is efficent and works well. Wifi worked out well and the apartment was very clean. We did not use the room upstairs but it looked nice. The balcony is big enough for two chairs, we used it a lot. It had shadow from about nine in the morning so it was never to hot. We also spent time every day att the roof terrace. It is a bit tricky to reach, a small narrow staircase but well worth the effort. It has a beautiful view! It is big, shared with a few other tenants, usually it is possible to find a corner with shadow so it is at nice place stay. We were mostly alone up there. The breeze is also nice and you can see the sea and the castle - beautiful even at late night. Over all Alessandros flat suited us perfect!
A wonderful location
We enjoyed our two week stay in this ideally situated apartment in old town Monopoli. We were next to Carlo V Castle in the old quarter that is a pedestrian-only area with just a few cars having access to it. Alessandro arranged for our collection from the airport which was helpful. The apartment was well-equipped with a small balcony that got the morning sun. The main bedroom was spacious with a large wardrobe, a desk and dressing table that were a bit creaky and outdated but in character considering the age of the place. The second bedroom was small and up some stairs and did not have a window but the air conditioning was luckily effective. We did not need to use this room at all. We only ventured once up to the roof terrace which was lovely and had the access to it have been easier (we are in our 60s!) we would have enjoyed using it more. Needing attention were: The bathroom door did not close; there was a broken chair left in the living room and wiring in place for a hob that had not been fitted. Just a few details that should be put right for the cost of the apartment but it didn’t detract from our stay there. Overall an interesting apartment and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you. Monopoli was beautiful with pretty streets full of flowers, piazzas with lots of restaurants and the food was always excellent. Fantastic fruit from the local shops too.
Lovely place in lively city.
Apartment is spacious and clean, nicely renovated leaving the touch of old spirit of the house in master bedroom. Place is airy, simply equipped however original floor mosaic and high ceilings in really spacious master bedroom makes you feel like a king when leaning on the bed. Kitchen is small but ergonomic and equipped with all you need for cooking (including microwave oven). Bathroom is spacious and loked brand new on our arrival ;) There is a small balcony where we managed to eat with our 2 kids quite happily. Option for dining is spacious living/dining room that is central space of the apartment, but we simply prefer fresh salty air on the balcony. Second bedroom is a kind of little loft space upstairs and was great hideaway for kids or anyone in need of siesta…
Located in the heart of centro storico, just a minute from main piazza full of caffes and restaurants and just one block of houses far away from sea side promenade you can enjoy Italian life style in full extent. Despite of its central location, apartment widows and balcony are facing to a narrow street ensuring you privacy and good sleep.
Monopoli is charming city full of life, tiny streets and churches, strolling locals as well as tourists, but with no souvenir shops apart from those selling prodotti tipici you really need to take with you home.
And the last but not least, Pietro speaks perfect english and was very helpful with everything we needed, guided us personally to the apartment and gave advices and tips on places to see. Monopoli is a grate base to visit picturesque towns in its vicinity like cliffy Polignano a Mare, Conversano with its beautiful cathedral, whitewashed Ostuni, looks like ''troll land'' of Alberobello, Locorotondo, Cisterino but there is much more left to see we couldn’t manage during just one week stay.... Not to be forgotten, there are beautiful wild sand beaches along the cost near Pilone where you can stop by on your trips around. We and our little kids (1,5y and 4y) enjoyed staying there very much and would be happy to return anytime in future.
Guter sehr netter Vermieter.
Gut eingerichtete Küche, Wohnzimmer und Bad - alles da was man braucht.
