The neighbourhood - overview
Get out and explore! There’s a lot to see aside from the tourist stuff...
On 500m from the house you will be enchanted by a small beach and the old harbour.
On 300m you can shop until you drop at the (shopping) centre of modern Antalya.
Even closer you will find the big city park with a marvellous view and antique places such as the Broken Minaret or Hadrian’s gate.
Also you will have plenty of possibilities for a nice evening out in the area.
We will give you more details after reserving and as we lived there for 9 years we know the local life, so ask us:)
We have a bike for rent and there are public bikes for rent at a walking distance.
Public transport in the centre is rather good and cheap.
We recommend you to buy a public transport card/ Antcart (8tl) that you can fill with money, more economic and easier then cash payment. Ask me for an overview of Antalya public transport...
A good way of getting around to places hard to reach with public transport can be to rent a taxi & driver for a day. Prices depend on the places and your negotiation talent.
Car & parking
The parking policy of Kaleiçi is not stable and we do not recommend to park your car there. We can show you some paid and unpaid parking spaces on walking distance.
If you rent a car in Kaleiçi itself then parking is for free and the owners will help you with parking at a legal place.
Other things to note
We care about the local people and Antalya and in order to maintain the destination as it is, we will be happy to provide you with tips that support locals and save energy and water.
Please put off the air-co, radiator and all lights, also outside before leaving... better for you, us and the environment!
If something is broken we will arrange it upon departure or deduct the costs from the deposit.
Smoking is allowed but preferably outside.
We had to break the bathroom wall due to clogged pipes so please NEVER throw any paper or else in the toilet!
I am a Dutch living in Antalya with my Turkish husband, 6 year old sun, dogs and cat and hopefully soon a horse.
We have recently moved closer to nature and left behind our special Kaleici Villa for you!
Together with a Turkish partner I have a company called TRIADA and we work on international projects in fields such as sustainable tourism and education.
I am also a horse trainer and my husband is a farrier travelling all around Turkey.
I am a matchmaker and with my activities I try to connect different people and cultures.
As we lived in the Kaleici for 7 years and in Antalya for 10 years, we know the local life, so please do not hesitate to ask us for insider tips...
Angelique Tonnaer Kirkil purchased this house in 2007
You can take the girl out of the village but not the village out of the girl.
That is why I choose to live in Kaleiçi which is like a village in the heart of the big city of Antalya. As my origin is from a historical village in the Netherlands called Thorn, I wanted to have a historic house here in Kaleiçi. It turned out to be a house that I was involved in its construction from the beginning but under the strict laws of the building department, so that it looks as a historic monument.
It has a historical look and feel.
And a lovely garden with orange and olive trees and some herbs.
So you can also eat from it sometimes:)
Tips to enjoy: Get out and explore! There’s a lot to see aside from the tourist stuff...
You will find lots of info about Turkey and Antalya and books in various languages in bookshelf in the living.

Kaleiçi has a vivid nightlife especially in the weekends. The streets next to Kesik Minare have a big variety of pubs to enjoy the evening, and if you go down you will find clubs and discos with lots of locals.

€/£/$ are accepted but TL is generally cheaper. For changing money the most economic ways are cash machines or the changing offices near Saat Kulesi in the so called Kapali Yol in the city centre.
There are public bikes available for rent on walking distance www.antbis.com. You may also use our bike with babyseat
The public transport card Antkart is cheaper and more practical. It costs 8tl and you can buy and fill it with money at the little house near İşmetpaşa tram stop. For an overview: www.antalya-ulasim.com/antalya-otobus-hareket-saatleri.html & a map at http://www.antalyahalkotobusleri.com/images/guzergahharita_29113.jpg
Tips from a guest: In order to get on the bus wave the hand and it will stop. In order to get off ask the driver or press the stop button. When you need to go to a certain street it is best to write its name down and show it to the driver or people in the bus stop. Just saying it can be hard due to pronunciation differences :)
The red and biggest buses do not stop in every single station. Smaller buses Dolmus, stop everywhere and take longer to reach the destination.
A good way of getting around to places hard to reach with public transport can be to rent a taxi&driver for a day. Prices depend on the places and your negotiation talent.
Car & parking
The parking policy of Kaleiçi is not stable and we do not recommend to park there. We can show you some paid and unpaid parking spaces on walking distance. In case you want to park there: prices are for 1-3hrs 5tl / 3-5hrs 7tl & 5-24hrs 10tl.
