Marquette Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

The Rock Cut Cabin is a small air conditioned 2 bedroom cabin that overlooks Lake Superior about 2 miles South of Marquette on highway US-41. It is nestled between two rock outcroppings and has a great view of Lake Superior. Just across the highway is a bike path that will lead you to Marquette beaches and around town on a paved pathway. In the winter the pathway turns into a snowmobile route that connects to the major area trails. Great stone fireplace in living room with firewood provided. Marquette Mountain ski area 5 minutes away, city of Marquette 3 minutes away, Northern Michigan University and Marquette General Medical Facility are 10 minutes away. Kitchen is equipped with all cooking utensils. Linens and towels provided. Hiking close by. Nice restaurants and shopping in Marquette. Includes charcoal grill.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a charming cabin! It is directly across from Lake Superior - imagine waking up and looking out the window to a spectacular clear lake view. It is close to Marquette, nothing is more than a few minutes away. Everything we needed was there. The cabin is clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for us to relax and unwind. The owners are friendly and it was a pleasure to do business with them. We are already making plans to go back next year!

Fantastic location.

The house is in an idea location. The deck is wonderful to have breakfast out overlooking Lake Superior. For us, the bike/running trail was in the perfect location - right across the road. Marquette is just 2.3 miles down the trail. It made for a wonderful walk/run to go down visit the bakery and then return.

The house is by the highway but we never heard any traffic noise. It was like being secluded from the rest of the world yet right there.

The Michigan information plaza was just a half mile away with very knowledgeable staff that was able to make sure we knew about the top spots to visit.

The cabin was very nice. It was well furnished with all of the basics. It exceeded our expectations with extras. We will definitely try to stay here the next time that we visit.

Terrible

I secured rental of the cabin. I remitted the necessary funds in the manner that was requested and I signed the Rental Agreement. I emailed the owners the day before my trip inquiring about keys. Only then did I receive a response stating the cabin had been rented to someone else! How that is possible considering all of the above is beyond me. Thankfully I inquired in sufficient time to alter my plans - as this would have resulted in a wasted 7-hour car drive with nowhere to stay!!

Owner's Response: We have a few parties that are curious about how the bookings are processed, so here is a general flow that we follow. Party emails to check availability / rates / deposit and any other questions about the cabin and surrounding area. We respond with the information, and ask to be notified if they would like to go forward. Once notified, a rental agreement is sent. When the agreement and payment are received the dates are booked. Email the party with directions / key information. It is possible that few parties are interested in the same dates or dates that conflict. The bookings are handled on a first come first served basis. (payment) It is not possible for me update each potential party that the dates they are considering could be filled before they confirm. Deposit checks are destroyed after our cleaning service checks out the cabin.

Another great stay at the Rock Cut Cabin

  • 4 of 5

This was our second consecutive spring break to stay at the Rock Cut Cabin. My wife and I (and our dog, Sutton) couldn't have been happier with this rental. The description of the cabin is spot on.

The cabin is perfect for a couple of people. The location is perfect. It lies approximately 2-3 miles outside the center of Marquette. There is a bike path right outside the cabin that leads into Marquette. And although it is on a highway, the traffic noise is not a bother.

The view from the cabin (Lake Superior) can't get much better in my opinion. I can only imagine how nice it is in the summer months. The wireless Internet connection worked flawlessly during our stay and the new TV was a nice addition. The master bedroom was nice with a very comfortable mattress.

Without a doubt our favorite part of the Rock Cut Cabin was the fireplace. My wife and I enjoyed a fire every night during our stay (firewood is provided). You just can't beat the enjoyment of a warm fire, view of Lake Superior all the while sitting in a nice comfy sofa.

The owners are great and answer questions promptly.

Very nice and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We were at Rock Cut Cabin Feb.15 to Feb. 18, 2015. Love this cabin....nothing fancy, but it has everything you need. The owner had the drive all plowed out after the blizzard. We could see the Dog sleds coming back to Marquette right from the front window! We will definitely be back.

My opinion

  • 1 of 5

My time at the cabin was a little disappointing the cabin is old and a little musty had to by candles. Took 20 minutes to make a cup of coffee with the 20 year old coffee pots. Air conditioning, right, only in the master bedroom, wall unit. TV only had 10 channels and the one in the master bedroom was not even hooked up to the cable. The porch is in need of a good paint job. They take your money they should invest in a little upkeep.
