About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

The Rock Cut Cabin is a small air conditioned 2 bedroom cabin that overlooks Lake Superior about 2 miles South of Marquette on highway US-41. It is nestled between two rock outcroppings and has a great view of Lake Superior. Just across the highway is a bike path that will lead you to Marquette beaches and around town on a paved pathway. In the winter the pathway turns into a snowmobile route that connects to the major area trails. Great stone fireplace in living room with firewood provided. Marquette Mountain ski area 5 minutes away, city of Marquette 3 minutes away, Northern Michigan University and Marquette General Medical Facility are 10 minutes away. Kitchen is equipped with all cooking utensils. Linens and towels provided. Hiking close by. Nice restaurants and shopping in Marquette. Includes charcoal grill.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a charming cabin! It is directly across from Lake Superior - imagine waking up and looking out the window to a spectacular clear lake view. It is close to Marquette, nothing is more than a few minutes away. Everything we needed was there. The cabin is clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for us to relax and unwind. The owners are friendly and it was a pleasure to do business with them. We are already making plans to go back next year!

Very pleasant small home just on the outside edge of town.

Wonderful hiking and four wheeling in the area, plus great eating and shopping. Lots of historical sites and museums, too. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Needs attention to musty smell

  • 1 of 5

As a previous reviewer stated, the cabin is old and very musty. The owners have updated the kitchen with counters and cabinets, but need to work out a solution for the ventilation issue because it was not pleasant. The towels provided also smelled musty; not sure if they had been left in a washer overnight or absorbed the smell from being in a closed, musty cabinet. I saw several cobwebs along the ceiling and in the 2nd bedroom. A cleaning crew following a checklist would have easily found these things.

The internet was functional; we did not use the tv during our stay.

The cabin can accommodate 4 people and has a pullout couch in the living room if needed.

Beautiful views of Lake Superior

My suggestion is to focus on a good deep cleaning and resolve the musty smell (which dates back to a negative review in 2014)

Quiet, beautiful, cabin with a view!

  • 5 of 5

Been staying here for spring break for the past 4 years. Small and quaint cabin with nice updates. The view of Superior and fireplace are our favorite parts of the cabin. Also a plus is the paved bike trail located across the highway that takes you into town. We have always stayed here in early spring. I would imagine this place would be totally awesome in summer. Owners are great!

Very Nice Stay

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property when visiting our daughter at NMU. We found the cabin to be in a great location with a wonderful view of Lake Superior. The traffic could get a little busy during the day but we were out and about so it was no problem. It was a perfect size for my husband and myself, plus there was the second bedroom for those who might need it. We would stay here again.

Awesome location

  • 4 of 5

Gorgeous sun rises over lake superior, viewed right from the couch! Kitchen was fully stocked with whatever utensils we needed. Bike path conveniently right across the street to get to town or stop at the hidden pebble beach on the way. Our dog loved playing at the beach and come back to sunbathe on the porch. The porch could use a little tlc, but it didn't even matter with such good views. The highway noise was noticeable at first, but not loud enough to be a problem. And by the end of the trip, we didn't even notice it. Bedrooms are always quite being on the back side of the house.

The owner was very responsive once we got there, they forgot to leave us access instructions and got back to us right away.

Perfect weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Marquette is a great little town located near some of the most beautiful sites nature has to offer. The lake house was

exactly as described very nice and easy to find My only regret was that I couldn't get up to enjoy what I'm sure would have been

a beautiful sunrise
