Enjoy warm summer sunrises and peaceful evenings watching the majestic sunset while roasting marshmallows by the soothing campfire.

About Skeleton Lake

Known as 'Muskoka's Best Kept Secret', in the heart of Muskoka, Skeleton Lake offers sandy swimming coves, great fishing, water sports, hiking and warm summer sunsets.

Skeleton Lake is one of the largest. It has a circumference of about 25 miles and has been called the clearest lake in Canada. Unlike most of the area lakes, which are souvenirs of the glacial age, Skeleton is believed to have formed as a result of a meteorite impact. Being a spring-fed lake, it is very, very clear and on calm days one can easily see down to depths of 20 or more meters.

There is much to explore. A short distance around the lake is hiking trails, a waterfall, children's camp and shallow public beach with picnic tables.

Fishing is great: summer or in winter

About Paul and Lisanne

My Husband and I grew up near Toronto and decided when we had children that we would love to enjoy some time away from the city and have looked for years to find this perfect retreat with its beautiful scenic views and wide variety of outdoor activities.

Paul and Lisanne purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Paul and Lisanne chose Muskoka Lakes

We chose our Lakeview cottage as the perfect place because we loved the clear, clean lake with the family friendly waterfront. The cottage was ideal for our family of 5 (+ friends for the kids and adults). The bright spacious lower level is perfect for a second family or kids to have their own space to enjoy. This area offers great outdoor year round experiences for all ages. We enjoy the beautiful scenery and all the outdoor activities it has to offer.

What makes this cottage unique

We want everyone who visits our place to feel that it is as much their home as it is ours. Our home radiates a warm, welcoming ambiance that we fell in love with immediately. Our home is your home and is perfect for sharing and spending time with family and friends.

A Beautiful Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two children (ages 13 & 11) and I spent a week enjoying the surroundings at Skeleton Lake. From sunrise to sunset it was a picturesque vacation.

The cottage was spacious and well maintained, both inside and out.

We enjoyed playing horse shoes, canoeing, kayaking, taking rides on the paddle boat and swimming in the beautiful water. This would be a fantastic property for families with young children, as there is a gradual entry from the edge of the grass to the sand and then into the water.

We were able to hit the links at the Diamond in the Ruff golf course and spent an afternoon at a nearby waterfall. We played games and relaxed in front of the tv when the weather chose not to cooperate (thankfully for only one morning during our stay) and we enjoyed all of our evening campfires.

When our sweet tooth got the better of us we went to the marina for some ice cream and stopped by a local village for some amazing pecan tarts and a cherry pie!

I was pleasantly surprised with the number of amenities that were included at the house: BBQ, coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils, plates, cups etc.

The owners were extremely organized and answered any questions thoroughly and in a timely manner.

We all enjoyed our visit immensely and can not wait until next summer when we can return!

Nice family spot

We had a great stay. The cottage was comfortable and exactly had the feel of a cottage stay. We had no lack of fun things to do while, swimming, eating lunch out on the dock and evening campfire. It was a relaxing fun weekend

I just spent the long weekend with my family. It is a beautiful cottage and we had a wonderful time. Each and everyone of us just loved it. We enjoyed it so much that we are already looking forward to be back to the same cottage next year.

Girls weekend away

  • 5 of 5

7 of us recently spent a weekend at this cottage and we all lived it! The owners have thought of everything to make it a great stay. The cottage is very up to date and well kept....nothing has been forgotten. It's a beautiful setting with lots of space to move around. Having access to the paddle boat, kayaks and canoe was great..I only wish we had more time there. Definitely a great spot to stay.

Great Spot!

  • 5 of 5

My family which consisted of 8 adults stayed here for 6 days and we had a great time. There were lots of sleeping options for everyone, the kitchen was fully stocked, a great bbbq, lots of outdoor seating, there were kayaks, a paddle boat and a fire pit for us to use. There is a beautiful dock to enjoy your morning coffee and catch some sun! The nights were quiet and restful. I would recommend this place and I would definitely come back next year. Thanks Paul and Lisanne!

A week of bliss on Skeleton Lake

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from an amazing week at this beautiful property!

The cottage itself is gorgeous! Very clean, comfortable, fully stocked and has breathtaking views of the stunning lake!

The property is beautifully maintained and the rental includes several water toys to keep both the adults and kids entertained.

The lake has a very nice, sandy, shallow entry and the water is warm and crystal clear. Perfect for the kids!

Watched beautiful sunsets every night right from the dock. Breathtaking!

Everything we could have dreamed of in a cottage rental!

The owners were so gracious, easy to deal with and even left us a welcome note and bottle of wine upon our arrival!

Far exceeded our expectations!

Can't wait to return next year.

Skeleton Lake is 10 minutes from Diamond in the Ruff Golf Course, as well as a 18-20 minute scenic ride to the villages/towns of Port Carling, Rosseau, Bracebridge and Hunstville where you can enjoy exploring all of the quaint shops, restaurants, live theatre, craft shows and summer time markets. (Bracebridge's popular Santa's Viillage is a 25 min. drive away).

Out and about, Arrowhead and Algonquin Parks offer more nature to those who can't get enough. The town of Huntsville is itself a huge art gallery, with Group of Seven murals hung on more than 20 buildings in the area. Golfers will want to spend a day at Diamond in the Ruff, Deerhurst Highlands or Deerhurst Lakeside. Anglers might be interested in spending a day at Lake Vernon with a Hooked Young fishing tour. Check out the program at the Algonquin Theatre during your stay, although if it's something you want to see, it's best to buy your tickets well in advance. In winter, snowmobiling and cross country skiing are at your doorstep, and Hidden Valley Ski Resort is just 40 km away.
