Authentic Champagne countryside retreat
We had a wonderful stay in this well maintained and furnished cottage half an hour from Epernay. Lovely to be in the countryside but still within easy reach of Epernay and champagne houses. Kitchen very modern and functional; lounge room cosy and bedrooms warm and comfortable. Great secure yard for our dog. Bathroom and laundry very good. House was very clean and hosts were welcoming and knowledgable of the local area. Highly recommended.
A comfortable hideaway deep in the countryside
This place is very well located if you want to withdraw from society. There is the sound of an occasional car passing by and the whirr of tractors, but otherwise it is very quiet with clear starry skies at night. The cottage is well-appointed, warm and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could want and the bathroom has modern fittings. Although the owners live next door, we were not overlooked by them and they left us entirely to our own devices (though making it clear that they were available if needed). My only slight regret is that the Satellite had hundreds of channels but only two news channels were in English - still, it meant we got even further away from civilization.
Everything what you need
It is a quiet and a small village among rolling hills of west Champagne. You need to have a car to go to the bakery or a shop in one of nearby villages. The first night we came late so the shops were closed. But the neighbours were so gracious to rescue us with some food for our evening meal. So very nice of them:)
The house provides everything you need for such a short stay. It was clean and convenient as well. Although Stephanie, the host, was on holiday, she did her best to assist us. Thank you very much.
Our visit was Perfect!
Our visit to Le Chemin de la Tuilerie was wonderful! We found the cottage to be perfect for our 4 days in the Champagne region. Stephanie has made sure that you have everything you need in this wonderful old farmhouse - including internet and ideas of where to go visit. The location was perfect for us to day trip to Reims, Epernay and then doing a "Rick Steve's Driving Tour" the last day. The town of Saint-Agnan is beautiful, you feel like you have stepped back in time about 150 years. Again, we found the cottage just PERFECT and would recommend it to anyone !
Quiet retreat close to Reims
The cottage was lovely with all the amenities we needed for our self catered stay. Our host was very helpful and provided good directions to locate the cottage as well as a welcoming sample of the local produce.
The apartment was very comfortable and well provisioned. We stayed in early February and the wood fire was welcome although there was plenty of heating in the cottage.
Reims and the champagne district was an easy drive through picturesque countryside.
A delightful stay for the start of our holiday. Highly recommended.
