Villa Polyxeni is a wonderful traditional stone house just a few steps from the sea. Built more than 100 years ago, recently renovated, is located on the left side of the village of Halki, when entering the harbor by boat. Covering a total area of 120 square meters it consists of a large main room of 60 square meters, an inner courtyard with access to a second country style bedroom of 15 sqm and the bathroom / WC. On the front is the large balcony with a lovely view over the village and the endless sea. The main room of 60 sqm with its high ceilings and the traditional wooden roof contains a raised (2m high) double bed directly overlooking the sea, There is, a fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator with freezer, small oven, dishes, glasses, many cookware, blender, toaster, juicer, coffee machine, etc), a dining table with 6 chairs, a living room with two sofas and armchairs, cable TV, wardrobe, WiFi Internet, board games etc.
In the inner courtyard under the shade, provided by the white-purple bougainvilleas, is the second sleeping room an outdoor shower, a small portable barbecue and another table with umbrella and chairs.
The unique balcony of 30 square meters is exactly above sea level and has a breathtaking view - probably one of the best of the island- that will leave you speechless. You look straight to the harbor, the settlement and the open sea, heading to Rhodes, where you can admire the crystal clear emerald sea filled with colorful fishing boats, the quiet dusk, or the magnificent sunrise. There is a large table with chairs, 2 sofas and 4 sunbeds that will enable you to enjoy endless moments of peace. Just below the house there is a small 'beach' for direct access to the crystal clear waters of Halki's 'natural swimming pool '.
Villa Polyxeni is very well situated so everything is easy to reach in less than 5-15 min on foot.
Please note that cleaning during your stay is optional at a fee of 30 euros
Studied Chemistry in Greece and Germany. After working for many years at multinational companies decided to slow down and live at the islands....
Panos purchased this villa in 1982
I inherited this house from my grandmother Polyxeni. It was used for many years as a family summer house.
Just a few steps from the sea, this beautiful house with its amazing view is unique and ideal for relaxing holidays 'away from it all'. Spacious, vintage, and fully equiped
This apartment was amazing. A real home from home.
We travelled to Chalki from Rhodes, and stayed for four nights. We travelled with two children, and I can honestly say, we haven't ever stayed anywhere where we felt so safe.
The balcony views are stunning, we happily sat watching our children swimming in the harbour below.
The apartment was spotless, beds comfy. Couldn't recommend the property or Island highly enough.
Photos here do not do justice to this beautiful house, it is a truly hidden gem and we spent two blissful weeks watching the world go by (mainly from the amazing terrace).
Spotlessly clean, everything you need and even things you didn't know you would need such as a Greek coffee maker and automatic ice dispenser, we were very definitely NOT disappointed.
Communications from enquiry and then throughout our stay were excellent and it felt as though we had acquired a new friend. A small plumbing problem with the shower was fixed in amazingly quick time following a call to Panos who wasn't even on Halki at that time. A great big thank you to everyone - 10/10 for customer service.
We tried most of the eateries and could not fault any of them. Really friendly local people who were welcoming and made any visit a pleasure.
I would recommend Villa Polyxenia, and indeed Halki Island, to everyone seeking a relaxing, peaceful and memorable holiday.
The island of Chalki (Halki) is linked by boat with islands like Kassos, Karpathos, and Kreta, but mainly and most frequently with Rhodes and Kos.
The best way to reach Chalki is to fly to the International Airport of Rhodes, with one of the numerous charter or regular flights, and then catch a correspondence. Outside airport, taxis queue to take you to one of the two ports from where you can catch a ferry that goes to Chalki.
The first port is in Rhodes Town (14 kilometres from the airport), where you can catch the big ferryboat of ANEK Lines.(www.anek.gr) Usually during summer time it three times per week. Another company which operates for Halki is Dodekanisos Seaways with speedboats catamaran. Duration of the trip is 1 hour. You can check the routes at www.12ne.gr (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9.00)
The second port is Kamiros Scala (35 kilometres from the airport) where you can catch the daily small ferries at 14.30 etc
The peaceful and beautiful island of Halki, this still undiscovered by mass tourism paradise, characterized by Unesco as 'The Island of Piece And Friendship', conveniently located right next to Rodos in the Dodecanese islands of southeastern Greece, offers the ideal circumstances for completely relaxed summer holidays in a 'Natura' surrounding of extreme beauty, with beautiful mansions, blue green sea and no cars.
