Nestled deep in a 14th courtyard, this former carpenter workshop on two levels has been completely rehabilitated. it has a private terrace of 20 m2, a large living space of 60 m2, 5 comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room and two toilets. Located 2 steps from the place of alésia (50 m) and near the Montparnasse train station, bus lines 28, 38 and 68 and the Line 4 subway offer you the center of Paris in 15 minutes.
This was perfect for our group of 8 people. It is off the street so very quiet. Ultra modern and full of light, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. We liked that it is outside the tourist areas but handy to them with a metro stop half a block away. You will be in a real French neighborhood so expect better prices than the tourist traps. I will use this place again and recommend it to all.
I completely agree with previous reviews and will try not to duplicate information. My group of eight adults thoroughly enjoyed our nine night stay at Catherine and Jean Pierre's home. You read the last sentence correctly. It is their home, which they graciously allow others to use.
The location is ideal. The owner's description after the map in this listing is completely accurate. In addition to the numerous cafes, bistros, and restaurants that are near, there are many ATMs. A pharmacy is just a few doors away. The metro and bus can take you to any part of the city. The map is not accurate however. The house is very close to the Alesia metro station, on rue d'Alesia. This is an attached structure within a residential building courtyard. It is extremely quiet. We did not hear any street noise, and rue d'Alesis is very busy.
As this is the owners' home, everything necessary for a comfortable stay is present. There is abundant glassware, flatware, and dishes. Any type of cookware you may need to prepare meals is available. Towels and hair dryer are provided.
The house has two levels. On the ground level is the kitchen, salon, single bedroom, double bedroom, one toilette, and one bathroom. One flight of stairs leads to a bedroom with a queen bed. At the top of the spiral stairs are two double bedrooms, the second toilette and the second bathroom.
If you prefer an authentic travel experience, this is the place for you. You can get to any part of Paris quickly, but you will hear French more than other languages. It was a perfect visit!
My group of eight adults spent nine nights at Catherine and Jean Pierre's lovely home. Yes, you read correctly, it is their home which they graciously allow others to use. It is an attached structure in the courtyard of residential buildings. This makes it extremely quiet in the evening. We heard no street noise, and rue d'Alesia is very busy. The location is extremely convenient with just a two minute walk to the Alesia metro station. The area is quite vibrant with numerous cafes and bistros. Boulangeries and other food purveyors are in close proximity. A large Carrefour grocery store is five minutes away. ATMs are in abundance and a pharmacy is a few doors away.
As this is the owners' home, everything necessary for a comfortable stay is present. There was more than sufficient dinnerware and glassware. The cookware enables you to prepare complete meals if you prefer to dine in. There are hair dryers and towels are provided. The bedrooms are comfortably large. The quality of the linens is excellent. The numerous skylights throughout contribute to a light and spacious feeling.
Catherine gave excellent instructions for the operation of the appliances. If you forget, a notebook with detailed written instructions is in the house.
The single bedroom, one double bedroom, one toilette, and one bathroom occupy the ground level along with the kitchen and salon. Up one flight of stairs is a bedroom with a queen size bed. At the top of the spiral stairs are two more double bedrooms, a toilette and another bathroom. The photographs and description are accurate.
If you prefer staying outside of the tourist areas, this is the place to rent. You can easily get to any part of the city from here. It is a wonderful part of Paris and gives you an authentic experience.
I can't say enough about this apartment. We were traveling with another family so, we had 4 adults and 5 children. There was more than enough room! The place is lovely and spacious. The kitchen is well-equipped for meals at "home". The washer and dryer were a wonderful perk enabling us to pack lighter. Jean Pierre and Catherine were incredibly accommodating and even booked our transport to and from the airport. They provided a notebook of apartment information that came in handy and several Paris guidebooks. The metro and bus were right across the street making it incredible central to all we could want to do and see. The neighborhood was safe and provided a delicious bakery, crepe stand, and markets galore! We hope to visit again!
The vacation house was delightful; we and our two children’s families (7 persons) were able to function with ease and we had everything we needed. The well stocked kitchen and the suggestions for local bakery, cheese store, general store, etc. were very helpful. Being able to have relaxed breakfasts and dinners “at home” made it possible to eat out as special treats. We enjoyed the terrace for relaxation and privacy. We didn’t have time to watch the videos and read the books, but it was nice having them and the travel guides were helpful. The web access worked without fail. The instruction notebook, with passwords, appliance instructions, and suggestions was especially helpful. The subway was across the street, and the local shops were wonderful; so we lacked for nothing. We would love to repeat the visit.
We stayed for a week in early July 2012. We had 4 adults and 4 children. Catherine was fantastic. She put out some dress up clothes that our girls loved! The house was located right next to the metro so it was easy to get anywhere we wanted. There were many shops nearby including a bakery, a cheese shop and grocery store in addition to places to eat so it was very well located. The house was very well furnished. We found nothing to be lacking. The beds and other furnishings were very comfortable. The house was very large so it never felt crowded and the kids had their own section. Because of the way the house is situated, you cannot hear traffic even with the windows open. The only noise we heard was from the church bells. the house had a nice patio which the kids played on. It would have been a nice place to sit, but it was too wet during our stay to use. If I were returning to Paris with a similar sized group, I would try and get this same house. It was a great place to stay.
In the heart of the shopping district of Alesia, you will find at the foot of the house's excellent baker Saibron, Boursault cheese, a very good fishmonger and an open fruit and vegetable market every day. Otherwise no worries a Carrefour supermarket is about 200 meters. You can join the Montparnasse Tower in 15 minutes on foot or visit the famous catacombs of Paris in 10 minutes. Alesia Metro Station is within 50 meters and takes you in 15 minutes in the center of Paris to discover the Marais quarter, Notre Dame de Paris, Saint-Germain des Prés, the Louvre and many other monuments. If you need greenery you can walk to the house the beautiful Montsouris, take bus 38 to stroll through the Luxembourg park. From the house everything is easy because you are on the metro line 4 which crosses Paris from the south to the north. On site, we give you the paris guides that allow you to build your projects. After a day of visit, the loft is a true haven of peace thanks to its tranquility and space. We will be happy to welcome you and be happy to stay there. See you soon!
