About moreno rossi
My name is Moreno, I did scientific studies and this helped me to evaluate and implement the plant restructure of this House. I've always loved beautiful things, elegance and essentiality to functionality.
moreno rossi purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1983
Why moreno rossi chose Quarrata
I have always loved living in the country and have always enjoyed the kind of life that these manor houses let you live. As a child my grandmother took me summer afternoons at the river and after a bath to make a snack in the Park of a sixteenth-century villa nearby. I was in love with the House, the garden of boxwood and scent of the panorama on the city that you enjoyed. I felt these feelings when I saw for the first time in this House. It was an old villa surrounded by a large park has become a forest full of nettles and weeds. Was in full structural decay, but it had an enviable location for the view that offered and especially was rich in historical details (1500 frescoes) frames of carved stone interior doors and large rooms and architectural structures that already constituted furnishings (antique fireplace Hood, sink, etc). I decided to buy it knowing full well the major task that would involve returning to ancient splendour. Just recently completed work by reusing all of materials is keeping the same structure and plant native.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
It's an old House but it has all the comforts of a modern. It is a villa in a park on a hill where the highest noise are the birds that inhabit the surrounding trees. Architectural traits did (pull-out ceilings, terracotta floors, rooms in passing without corridors) similar to those ancient villas belonged to noble families who used these houses of countryside as hunting residences. From the Windows you can enjoy the sight of glimpses of garden landscape, of the plain and the surrounding hills to the mountains of the Apennines.

Wonderful property in beautiful surroundings
This property is an ideal hub for exploring Florence and surrounding areas. Moreno provided us with plenty of suggestions of places to visit, where to eat and things to see and do during our 2 week stay.
Thank you Moreno for being a great host. Would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to visit the area.
Outstanding in every way!
The property was beautiful, clean and better than the pictures! The house has an air conditioner in every room. Plenty of room for guests: kids and adults. It provides a large dinning area and living area yet space upstairs for privacy. The house is beautifully restored and has all the amenities: full kitchen, 2 full baths and 1 half bath, 3 bedrooms with storage, laundry, a gorgeous fireplace for winter and games. We taught our son to play Monopoly: the Italian version. The pool and outdoor eating area is picturesque overlooking the Tuscan hillside. Moreno was delightful, informative and helped us get settled into Tuscan life. He even took us to the grocery store and taught us how to maneuver the Italian grocery. We cooked often and returned to the store on our own with no problems. He was helpful by providing day trips, restaurants and general information but not intrusive. The house location is perfect for many sites including Florence, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena, and beach areas. It's an easy 40 minute trip into Florence for train trips to Rome, Venice and elsewhere in Italy. Quarrata is a quaint, non-tourist town that welcomes visitors, has fun shopping, cozy restaurants, great pizza, a wonderful bakery and fantastic gelato. Already planning our next trip!!!
Beautiful place with amazing surroundings
Enjoyed staying in this beautiful place. the owner of house was very kind and helpful. The place was very private but he was there when we needed his help. We tried two restaurants he recommended, both were really nice.
Ho apprezzato i miei ospiti per l' interesse riguardo ai dintorni di casa mia e alle città d' arte vicine.
Ho fornito loro tutte le informazioni ed i consigli sui posti da visitare che preferisco.
The villa was perfect for six adults, plenty of living space. Well renovated and with lots of charm.
Moreno, the owner, responded to emails quickly and was attentive to our personal requests. Moreno was extremely helpful with providing ideas for half or full day excursions. We requested a cooking class and Moreno recommended two women from Lucca to cook with our family - a highlight of our trip. The location of the villa is between Florence and Lucca which provided a convenient, central location for our daily excursions to Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Greve, Monteriggioni, Siena and Cinque Terra.
Authentic Tuscan Home for Relaxing
My husband and I spent eight wonderful days in this beautiful house set in the hills above Quarrata. The owner has lovingly restored this property, keeping its original charm, while adding all the modern amenities. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, with AC that is quiet, yet effective. The kitchen is well-equipped although we didn't do much cooking. The owner has separate living quarters in the back part of the house, but all is very private. He is helpful when needed, like the time we accidentally locked ourselves out! The location of the house is ideal, just a five minute drive to the center of town, but a quiet and tranquil spot surrounded by olive trees. The outdoor terrace is a perfect place to relax, with a covered dining area and a tiny pool to cool off in. We loved the Pasticcheria in the Piazza Risorgimento and also the little pizza place in the same square. This is not a "tourist" destination, but an easy drive to many charming sites. Perfect spot for our needs!
I am happy to have hosted Mr. Grebstein for their friendliness and interest. Ellen is a garden expert and has given me valuable advice about my flowers, her husband is a gourmet and has appreciated my advice on local restaurants. Next time if they come in the autumn they will be able to watch the olive harvest and pressing in the mill.
Fantastic house with first class accommodation. Moreno on hand if needed (but not intrusive) he provided lots of useful advice on beautiful places to visit, restaurants, supermarkets etc. Children loved the pool, great Wi-fi connection etc. Fabulous holiday, can't fault our stay, would definitely return!
