Why The Owner chose Salida

I searched for several years to find my vacation rentals. Several things make this the perfect site - located in a remote area, yet only 18 miles to Salida for restaurants, shops, antiquing, art galleries, local wineries & breweries. Think of Ski Town Condos as a convenient base camp for your Colorado day trips! The Royal Gorge Bridge, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Great Sand Dunes of the National Parks,The National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum - nowhere is the mining industry, past and present, better displayed than here! Leadville 70 miles. Ski Town Condos is in a remote area surrounded by the San Isabel National Forest with all the outdoor attractions to enjoy year round - Monarch Mountain Ski Area just 3 miles away, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, natural hot springs, fishing, & river rafting.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything was perfect and our adult children definitely loved it. We will all be back. Have a great summer - think of us back in Arizona in the 108 temps!

Beautiful, spacious, and homey condo tucked into a quiet, quaint little town. Had a very relaxing stay, and we were very close to hot springs, hiking, and fishing. Something for everyone.

Would not stay here again

  • 1 of 5

When we arrived at the cabin, we thought it was cute and we were excited to stay there. We were meeting my parents and grandparents who were staying in another cabin in the same area. The owner wasn't the nicest. My parents helped me and my husband & my sister and her husband unload. We reserved to cabin for four people and she tried to catch my parents in a lie. Thinking we were trying to sneak them in. My sister and her husband brought their dogs but they stayed in my parent's cabin that was pet friendly. She kept trying to catch her bringing the dogs into our cabin which we wouldn't have done because we weren't going to pay the fee. Then when it was time to take out our trash, she tried to catch us in another lie. We had spent the majority of the weekend either out doing different activities or having meals and playing games at my parent's cabin. We only used this cabin to sleep in. We had taken food and drinks to the other cabin and had accrued trash while we were there. It was in one trash bag. My grandpa had the other bags of trash in the back of his truck along with ours and was bringing them over to our cabin's trash bin. She told him that their trash bin for their cabin was up the road, which we totally understood. However; when I asked my grandpa if he wanted me to throw our bag in our bin he said he would take it and she said, "yeah because you wouldn't have any trash coming from their cabin." Basically saying I'm lying about our bag of trash. The whole weekend was like that whenever we were at our cabin. She would pop up out of no where asking where we had been all day. I just wouldn't stay there again. We are honest people who follow the rules and I was both annoyed and offended that she constantly tried to prove otherwise. This is a nice area with beautiful views and fun things to do close by. However; I would recommend seeking another cabin to stay in.

Owner's Response: It becomes very uncomfortable and awkward for both of us when policies are not followed. As she stated, she reserved the condo for 4 guests. When I arrived at the condos, I see 3 cars, six guests, and dogs. My policies clearly state the following so guests can see if Ski Town Condos is a good fit for them or not. These are the 3 policies that made their 2 night stay uncomfortable: 1. No pets, non-smoking property – thank you! $250 fine 2. Parking is limited to two vehicles per condo. 3. The facilities are for the guests of the condos only, sorry no visitors. If you are interested in staying in a VRBO, I recommend that you read the policies and find the best fit for your vacation. Since Garfield is a very small place, we all know each other in town. If I knew they had dogs, I would have been glad to recommend one of the “pet friendly” cabins. If I knew they were traveling with 8, I could have recommended a cabin that fit 8 guests and “pet friendly”. The VRBO cabin the parents were at must have made an exception since it clearly states no pets. The morning they checked-out, I woke up to a barking dog in her sister’s car at 615am. I have other guests that are not expecting pets, so it just makes it unpleasant for everyone. They said they did not bring the dogs into the condo, so I did not charge them the $250 fine. I live here at Ski Town Condos. I try to make it comfortable and engage in conversation with all my guests. So hopefully, on their next vacation they will rent something that “fits” all their needs. Thank you, Gigi, owner

We had a wonderful two days of spring skiing at Monarch. It was great being so close to the resort!

The accommodations were clean, friendly, and met our needs well. Would definitely return.

Cozy Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at the Ski Town Condos. The condo fit 3 adults and 2 kids just perfectly, and we had enough room for more. The place was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. We took advantage of the great kitchen space for making meals and having things on hand. This was a great drive to Monarch Ski area. You can't stay any closer than this it seems. It made it very convenient to get there for our ski day. We loved getting in the hot tub and relaxing on a day after the slopes. It was easy to get to Salida for dinner and to Mount Princeton for the Hot Springs. This was such a great location. We will most definitely be back when we go to Monarch again. This place was perfect. Gigi was amazing. She was friendly, kind and helpful.
