About Dan Vine
Susi and Daniel live in Solana Beach, just 2 hours from Borrego Springs. Avid adventurers, Anza-Borrego State Park offers plenty of roads and trails to keep them busy, be it on foot, 2 wheels or 4.
Dan Vine purchased this House in 2005
Why Dan Vine chose Borrego Springs
After some years of camping in the surrounding desert park, this charming mid-century home offered the perfect way to enjoy the comforts of home - away from home! One of the first homes built around De Anza's beautiful golf course, it has retained many of it's original features, with the addition of the luxurious 70' lap pool, with it's gentle salt water heated by the sun (the roof-top solar system, that is!) We enjoy living in the desert with a light footprint.
What makes this House unique
From indoors or out, from sunrise to sunset the colors of the desert are enchanting. Enjoy the sounds of wildlife, quiet or active entertainment. Do nothing or pursue a non-stop adventure vacation. Whether your first visit or your tenth return, we welcome you to make yourself at home!

Beautiful and relaxing
I highly recommend staying at this Borrego Spring property. The minute you walk in the house, you feel relaxed. The living area is comfortable for reading or watching TV. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and dining in. We absolutely LOVED the pool and patio area. Great pool - it is huge and there are lots of pool floats, etc. and its perfect for swimming laps. You feel like you have your own resort. We loved the Borrego Springs area for hiking and took several great hikes not far from the property. Really like the cruiser bikes for an early evening ride around the neighborhood or for a ride into town. We were very sad the day we had to leave. Would definitely like to return soon and would certainly stay at this property in a heartbeat.
Lots to do here
this property is priced right. Very comfortable and it's location is perfect for biking, hiking, and close to Indianhead mountain which makes it not windy. The house is on de anza Country Club golf course and has a very large swimming pool if you want to swim laps.
5 minute bike ride to the welded metal sculptures of Ricardo Breceda.
Have stayed there in May and October. Will definitely return.
Great location, value
We've loved weekend visits to Borrego over the years and finally decided to spend a week there and see if you could really "unwind" and get away from it all. That you can--this town puts you at peace and allows you to really feel connected to the environment around you and tune out the noise in your mind from back home. It's hard to imagine your only a couple of hours away from the coast--it feels like an entirely different planet. There was a negative review from a person who was surprised that there wasn't much going on in Borrego--this is not the fault of this house--it's the nature of the place it's situated in. And for us, it was perfect.
This house is well situated on a beautiful lot in one of Borrego's finest communities, De Anza Country Club. The pool is truly gigantic though the cover does a good job of keeping it warm (assuming you are not there in the winter). Our favorite part of the trip was just lounging outside by the pool.
The house is charming, bright and pleasant. But I have to take off a star because everything is not in terribly good repair. The couches are worn out, the outside patio furniture cushions need to replaced (filthy), everything is extremely old. And no I don't mean in a cool, mid-century kind of way. Just sort of 80s old.
All that being said, the home is priced commensurate with its condition and you don't really mind the old furniture after a couple of days.
The owner is extremely attentive, friendly, and very helpful--we will likely return.
Great oasis in the desert!!!
We rented the house for my daughter's birthday! The house was more than what we expected! I almost hate to write a review because we will want to stay there again and selfishly would not want to see it become to popular!!
The main problem with the house--no one wanted to go out and do anything--it was so relaxing just hanging by the pool!! We did manage to hike the "Slot" and Palm Canyon--2 short easy hikes--which were pretty cool--but more so with the anticipation of heading back to the house afterwards and relaxing by and in the pool!!
An amazing week!
We just got married, and our family made the reservation as our honeymoon. First thing everyone needs to know; this is not a resort, nor a place to be entertained. Borrego is a special place where one can shed all the stress & worries of the regular grind. Dan offers an oasis where people can go unwind and relax in a beautiful place where the magic of the desert permeates your very soul. My new wife and I discovered how easily we become slaves to the daily game; losing sight of what really matters. Dan provided a wonderful, special place for us to enjoy each other's company. No noise, no cars, nothing but the birds chirping, and floating in the pool. I cannot explain how relaxed we became within a day of arriving! The house has every amenity one could desire; in fact, there's a closet full of every thing one might forget to bring, which just adds to making you relax...feel right at home. Some of the reviews I saw are unfair; if you want to "get away from it all" THIS is the place for you. You will not regret staying here, as Dan has covered everything you could possibly need. We will definitely come back, as often as we can!
First of all, the owner was extremely helpful and very available by cell phone to answer even the smallest of questions. Unfortunately, the property itself needs a thorough cleaning (including the pool) and some updates to the '60s features in the home. There was dust all over and many shelves in the bathrooms and kitchen had not been cleaned for some time. The bottom and sides of the pool had very little blue color left being covered by mostly black stains. It turns out that early May is off-season so several restaurants were closed and there were no activities in the small town at all. Good if you are looking for solitude, but being a long and winding road away from a larger community makes it very isolated.
