About Beth Swan

A retired University lecturer, I fell in love with Toulon and the Côte d’Azur over 30 years ago. I chose the Mourillon because it's an ideal base to explore the region or simply to relax.

It's the nicest area in Toulon, where Provence meets the Mediterranean sea. When you open the shutters in the morning you'll see the sea to the left at the end of the street and you'll really feel like you're on holiday.

Beth Swan purchased this studio in 2012

Why Beth Swan chose Toulon

The Mediterranean sea at the bottom of the road! Sandy beaches, promenade, grassed areas, children's play areas, dog park, coastal path, little wilder beaches. Really nice area. The Mourillon has kept its provençal village character with its market and excellent bakeries! You can do everything easily on foot but there are also plenty of buses.

The smaller wilder beaches accessible from the Mourillon: La Mitre to the west (10 minutes on foot - walk along the sea front and you'll find beautiful beaches just after the little port at Fort St Louis); Cap Brun to the east (take the coastal path from the watersports club at Anse Tabarly to Méjean bay).

The peninsula of St Mandrier, the islands off Hyères (Porquerolles is superb), boat trips, Mont Faron (cable car, nature walks). The beaches at Le Pradet are very pretty, as is the port of Oursinières and the mine at Cap Garonne with its walking trails.

What makes this studio unique

The Mourillon is the nicest area in Toulon, where Provence meets the Mediterranean sea. When you open the shutters in the morning you'll see the sea at the bottom of the road and you'll really feel like you're on holiday.

It's an ideal location to make the most of the beaches and the port, with an excellent bus service, restaurants and shops nearby, free parking in the street or the large beach car park (1300 spaces).

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

I first stayed in this lovely little studio a couple of years ago. It's compact but surprisingly spacious. Very clean and everything is easy to operate. The cooking facilities are more than adequate and the fridge space is generous. With a few boulangeries and cheese shops on the doorstep we were well set!

Toulon is beautiful and you're literally a stone's throw from the beach, restaurants, a very cool jazz bar and much more. The locals are extremely friendly and we went back a year later to meet up with some of them again and to stay in this lovely studio once more.

The owner is extremely helpful in advising you about places to visit and assuaging any worries you might have about finding your way around when you first arrive etc.

Both times we visited (once in early May and once in late May) the weather was perfect - warm and sunny.

Would highly recommend and I can't wait to get back out there again.

Bien cordialement. Beth Swan
