The perfect escape from the city
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope to be back soon.
The pictures do NOT do this property justice, the setting, the architecture, the feel are all above and beyond our expectations. For my wife that was easy since she had no clue where we were going since it was a surprise get away. I definitely agree that this is a one couple house unless you are quite comfortable with your house mates and not shy, because privacy is not something you will have in this house. I love that there is no telephone, no WIFI, no cable TV. It rained almost the whole time we were here and it was glorious lounging around and being completely unplugged. I recommend venturing to Tallulah Gorge one day and explore the gorge and then eat late lunch at the Blue Creek Farmhouse Market on the way back. Also, go have breakfast chicken biscuits at Maryland's Fried Chicken in Toccoa (there are 2 and only one was open for breakfast). Then go have dinner one night at The X-Factor Grill in Toccoa and enjoy their good beer selection. We will definitely be back one day!
The house was beyond beautiful and the views were spectacular. Bedding very warm and comfortable. House has everything you need. Owner / care-taker were very nice and responsive.
Beautiful and peaceful
Couldn’t have been happier. Beautiful destination and the views!!! Had nice fire couple nights in fireplace. Really enjoyed this relaxing and peaceful break.
Even better than you think..
This house is everything everyone says it is - its stunning. My only regret is not being able to stay longer, but we hope to return in the future. Stayed for 2 nights as part of our 1st wedding anniversary road trip (from Philly to SC and back). We spent the day enjoying the falls, drinking wine, playing games/ cards that we had with us and grilling. We brought all the food and drinks we would need so we didn't have to leave the house. There is a beautiful spot at the top of the falls on some rocks that is extremely easily accessible, its a really nice place to sit and just soak it in (meditate, if that's your thing!). It is just off the driveway below where you park your car. Thank you to Gina for being so understanding when we called because we were running a little late and to Bill for opening this beautiful home to be enjoyed by many.
needs a little TLC
Home was very unique, I just wish it was cleaner. Needs a little TLC. windows were covered with spider webs on the outside which gives a not clean feel. Broken glass in shower needs fixing, ceiling in smaller bedroom needs to be repaired and trees trimmed because it is blocking the amazing views. Very neat property but we were a little disappointed.
Thank you for your feedback, Lisa. I'm glad you enjoyed the uniqueness of the property. A large part of it's uniqueness is that it was designed and built to be part of the woodlands surrounding it. The architect and builder both took great pains to do this.
Regarding your specific comment about spider webs outside the windows, I actually leave the spider webs on the outside as the spiders aid in controlling the bug population. It's also very difficult to keep those windows clean, as we physically have to rappel from the roof to clean (it's an 80 foot drop from the windows down to the ground near the foot of the waterfall.)
Regarding the comments about the cracked glass: there are several small pains of glass throughout the house that are cracked. This occurred before we purchased the house several years ago due to minor settling, and is due to the extraordinary amounts of glass and windows throughout the home.
Lastly, I'm sorry the small planks in the ceiling of the spare bedroom caused concern. I removed the two planks a few years ago after we had a water line freeze when the house was empty. I take them off to allow heat to reach those lines only during the winter.
