About the property

3 bedroom 2 bathroom castle view Many nearby beaches lovely fish restaurants

Our house is in a very quiet location in Zambujal, which is in the District of Sesimbra. It is on the edge of the National park of Arabidda and is only 20 miles south of Lisbon. There is a wall around the grounds of the house, so children or pets can be left without the danger of them wandering into the road. There is plenty of secure parking and the nearest restaurant is less than 100 metres away. Sesimbra is a wonderful village and is unspoilt by tourism, it has the most amazing fish restaurants and plenty of bars to relax in. The area benefits from most watersports including, scuba, windsurfing fishing etc. There are loads of places to visit and the castle is only a short distance away. The journey from or to Lisbon Airport normally takes about 35 minutes. You can drive to the beach in about 5 minutes. The beach in Sesimbra is a fine golden sandy beach which is always extremely clean. It is sheltered by hills and generally the sea is calm here. There is a satellite system so that you will be able to watch English BBC and ITV channels Equipped as our second home, with all of the comforts of home, Huge amount of crockery and cutlery, bed linen and towels, every kitchen appliance that you would imagine. Including dish washer and washing machine. DVD player with loads of films, Hi fi with loads of CD's. An absolutely spectacular view of Sesimbra Castle as well as the countryside. It is ideally suited and only 30 minutes drive to Lisbon. This is on the edge of the Arabida National Park. Brilliant for bird watching, so many birds of prey, Red Kites, Buzzards, Falcons, Kestrels, Hen Harriers, Barn Owls, Tawny Owls, Scops Owls and Little Owls. I have seen the Iberian Stork, numerous Egrets, Hoopoes. The list is endless. There are numerous places of interest nearby. Historical places accessible with a short drive include Sesimbra Castle, Cabo Espichel, Palmela Castle, Sesimbra Fortaleza. Sao Filipe in Setubal, St George Castle in Lisbon. Nearby beaches include Sesimbra, Pontho da Arabida, Aldea do Meco, Lagoa da Albufiera, Foz. Ribeiro do Cavalo. California. Fishing boats are available from Sesimbra and Setubal. Beach fishing available at any of the beaches. Scuba diving available in Sesimbra and Setubal. Many shopping centres available in Quinta do Conde, Forum Almada, Rio Azul, Fogueteiro. Dolphin watching trips available from Setubal. Wine tasting available in Bacalhoa in Azeitao and Maria da Fonseca Azeitao. Sesimbra has the best fish restaurants that I have ever been to, these suit all pockets. We have fire detectors, carbon monoxide detectors which are alarmed and connected to a mobile number. We have recently changed Holiday letting company, so have lost our reviews. House was rated 4.4 out of 5 stars when previously advertised with rentalia.

About David Bevis

I have been married to a lovely Portuguese lady from Sesimbra for the last 28 yrs. We currently live in England, but are hoping to retire to Sesimbra in 2018. Let me tell you a little bit about

myself. I joined the Metropolitan Police as a cadet aged 16 years in 1974. I then became an officer in 1976 and worked as a Police Officer until retiring in 2012. In 2013, I started a new career with the British Transport Police as a Civilian and Retired in December 2017 I am a family man and we have 3 grown up children and 6 grand children. I always look forward to our holidays in Sesimbra. It is here that I can relax, eat the best food and drink fabulous wines. I love to go fishing and enjoy lovely walks in the area. I also love to see the little owls in Cabo Espichel and Azoia, and go to see them at least twice a week. I can't wait to be able to call Sesimbra my home

Previously advertised with another company. Lots of views achieving 4/5 rating

David Bevis purchased this bungalow in 1996

Why David Bevis chose Zambujal

Unlike many other properties. We do not just provide the basic equipment. We want you to experience both of our properties as you do your home and we have included all of the home comforts possible. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and our properties are both looked after by a member of my wife's family. Isabel. The house is also one one level so is ideal for people with walking difficulties. There is secure gated parking.

What makes this bungalow unique

We have recently bought a large area of land in front of the house. this has all been fenced off and secured with a gate. During your stay, you will know that your car is safe, and the area is a safe place for kids to play, without worrying about leaving the unsupervised.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the review. If only we had known before you left. There is a vacuum cleaner but Isabel forget to leave it out. With the internet connection My sister in law Teresa who lives next door could easily have given you access. I am glad that you enjoyed the house

3 Bedroom House with garden & enclosed patio, Fantastic views of Sesimbra Castle
average rating of 4.0 based on 3 reviews

  • 4 of 5

Directions from Lisbon Airport,

From the car hire depot take the left lane and follow the signs to Sul. At the first roundabout take the first exit and continue straight until you see a sign for A2 Sul which is about 3 km away. Turn right and continue to follow signs to A2 Sul. Cross the 25th April Bridge and continue straight, take the first exit after the service station and follow the signs to Sesimbra, continue straight across all roundabouts until you come into a village called Santana. Shortly after the roundabout, there is a fork in the road. Take the right fork and continue straight. At the next roundabout turn right, first exit. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit and go up the hill on the road towards Cabo Espichel. As the road bends to the left about 10 metres past the Restaurant Olinda, turn left. at the end of the left wall turn left and the house is on the left and is clearly signed Castelo A Vista

My wife's Aunt Isabel lives nearby and will show you the house and give you the keys.

The restaurant Olinda serves hearty meals, good portions and cheap. Fernando barbecues fresh fish outside. The deep fried cuttlefish is lovely and great with a cold glass of beer.

There is a fantastic patisserie Rabaca a few metres away. As you leave the house turn left and it is on your right. It has a fantastic selection of cakes and is great for picking up your daily fresh bread, or for having breakfast and or coffee. I love the meia de laite. Coffee with half milk. And of course the Portuguese custard tart. You can also order a selection of mini cakes. I can't believe how cheap and good this place is. Prices shown are for 6 persons, there is an additional charge of 7 euros per night for each additional person.

There are so many wonderful restaurants in Sesimbra, it would be impossible to list them all. Depending on your choice you could get a meal with wine from about 10 euros, obviously there are more expensive restaurants too.
