Ideal for those who love the old buildings restored in their most characteristic aspects and made more pleasant to live through the benefits of modernity. Olive and cypress trees characterize the landscape. From the pool you can enjoy a beautiful view of the valley. The rooms are air conditioned and some decorated with period furniture, all equipped, however, with wardrobes. The ceilings with wooden beams and old bricks are typical of the old rustic Tuscan. The kitchen is spacious and functional, as is the large living room, both with stunning views of the valley.
We had a lovely week staying in Il Forno. Our host was very welcoming and kind. He brought us a present of his own olive oil and plums and happily gave advice on local activities when asked. The house has recently been renovated and is beautiful. It had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the pool. We hired a minibus which we found easier to park on the road as the gravel drive was quite steep and was shared with the family staying in the other part of the house; this wasn't a problem. We enjoyed walking down to the local shop each morning to buy delicious bread. We ate every meal outside enjoying the wonderful views. We would happily return!
We have just arrived home after ten wonderful days at Casal di Mammoli. We were met at the gates by Giorgio the owner who gave us the warmest welcome. He ensured that we had everything we needed and called in every few days to make sure that we were happy recommending restaurants and supermarkets, all within a mile or two of the house. The house was large and airy and the garden and pool were fabulous. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We felt that we had the best of both worlds feeling that we were tucked away in the Tuscany hills with wonderful views but only fifteen minutes from the beautiful old town of Lucca. Thank you Giorgio and Paola, we shall definitely be returning!
Paola and Giorgio Pieri are lovely people. They welcomed us on arrival and made us feel at home in the villa. It is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. We loved staying here. It is quiet, the facilities are brilliant, clean, tidy. The children loved the large pool. The pool has everything you need with sun loungers, umbrellas and a shower. The view from the pool and the villa is amazing. At night the fire flies come out and makes the place look and feel magical. The building itself is lovely, all stone with interior of old mixed with new. The rooms are very spacious and you feel at home instantly. Its about 10mins drive from a big supermarket so its easy to stock up on essentials. We didn’t really go out to any bars or restaurants, we just wanted to stay at the villa and relax with the children. We would recommend renting a car as this will make your stay much more pleasant. We highly recommend this villa and the owners are wonderful people.
The home was perfect for us! The house was roomy, clean, air conditioners worked impeccably, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were comfortable as well with good water pressure. The pool was perfect for the hot days. It was clean and maintained well, and the lounge chairs made the pool experience a perfect spot to relax and take in the amazing views. Giorgio and his wife were very hospitable and made sure that we were comfortable. The location of the home was away from the busy bustle so it was quiet, but then it was super easy to get to the center of Lucca or anywhere in Tuscany. The listing description is accurate. I highly recommend renting this property and enjoy your time in Italy!
Our one week family break at Il Forno simply wasn't long enough! First of all the house provided the perfect accommodation with 4 bedrooms, perfect for our 2 daughters and their Grandmother and the air conditioning was a bonus. We made good use of the well stocked kitchen and our cooking was greatly enhanced by Giorgio's gift of his locally grown olive oil. Whilst on food theme the local shop providing fresh Tuscan produce was within walking distance and of course Giorgio's almost daily cake delivery was much appreciated by us all.
Our girls made great use of the excellent pool and the garden with high quality loungers was a great place for relaxation and enjoying views of this beautiful valley.
Lucca was about 20 minutes away, a great place for gelato and walking the ancient walls is such a treat. The location whilst quiet was well placed for driving to Florence, Pisa and Barga and you could still be back in time for a swim!
To call this apartment is an understatement as it is a beautifully and thoughtfully restored Tuscan villa albeit consisting of 2 properties.
I highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning in the not too distant future.
Thank you Giorgio and Paolo
The house has been perfectly refurbished and it is very well appointed. We loved that it was in a quiet neighborhood away from the traffic in Lucca yet only 15 minutes from the old city. The owner Giorgio welcomed us the day we checked in even though it was late in the afternoon. He took the time to show us around the property and even brought us typical Luccchese bread and a bottle of olive oil from his olive grove. Enjoyed good meals at La Fenice close to the house. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this house.
A proposal for those who love good food: why not have fun in the kitchen and learn traditional dishes from Lucca to taste, then, during the winter in memory of a beautiful land and a nice vacation? Whatever time of year you can follow a cooking course lasting quttro lessons organized for you by the famous restaurant 'Cantine Bernardini', located in a historic building in the center of Lucca. Available for more information.
