This 13th century tower belonged to the very powerful Donati family. By the second half of the sixteenth century, the Donati family’s fortune had faded and the tower was incorporated into the mansion of the Albizi, a Florentine family of merchants and bankers who were long-standing rivals of the Medici. In the eighteenth century the mansion passed to the Tassinari family, and finally in 1929 to the family of the current owners.

We are a family with a teenage daughter. We love Florence and Tuscany, but also the world! :)
Antonella purchased this apartment in 1929
I wanted to share this beautiful apartment and its stunning views with visitors to this magical city.
In a historic building of the 13th-16th centuries, protected by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage, two apartments of different beauty, one spectacular, 'The Terrace of the Donati Tower', and one functional, 'The little hole of the wine', two different ways to live a unique experience in Florence.
Beautiful little gem, the Sphinx! Perfect for two. We loved our stay in the heart of Florence - the pedestrian area. Easy walking distance to the Duomo, and to great restaurants. Artfully decorated and right in the mix of Florence. We felt like local Florentines when we walked out the front door. Comfortable bed and accommodations. Basic butler kitchen and charming place to stay. (As noted- not a kitchen to practice your new Italian cooking skills.) We enjoyed the private sculpture garden patio for evening Aperol spritz and wine as well as lunch. The wifi: very secure, thank you. Glad to have the AC as we had a few days of humid weather. There is a delicious and friendly local pastry/coffee shop just 50 steps from the front door we patronized almost daily.
Antonella and Stefano are exceptional hosts. They met with us and gave us great suggestions of places to see and places to eat as well as a personal handout of their suggestions, i.e. their favorite walks, out of the way local places which we really liked. They were eager and quick to help with a simple Italian coffee maker and diffuser for the new induction stove. Thank you being so personable and for making our visit to Florence so memorable! Grazie millie!
The space was clean and comfortable for 2 people. We so enjoyed having coffee and wine in the private garden. Loved the location. Very walkable to all major attractions and train station yet away from the large crowds. Close to shopping and good restaurants. Antonella and Stefano were so helpful in providing directions and recommending restaurants and attractions. We would not hesitate to book this unit again should we return to Florence.
had a lovely stay hosts very welcoming and gave us lots of handy tips for places to see and eat. apartment well appointed and in great spot. the private garden was surprisingly tranquil given such a central location. plenty choice of places to eat at different prices depending upon your budget and preferences. Florence busy and would recommend booking museum tickets for more popular places.
Antonella and Stefano were the greatest hosts! The brand new unit we stayed in was absolutely stunning. They provided everything we could have needed for our stay and were there to answer any questions and had lots of great ideas and suggestions. The unit was spotless. Spending our evenings on the lanai in the beautiful courtyard made us feel that we had our own private piece of Tuscany!
We will be back!
