Reconstruction of a Norman peasant habitat XIX with the comfort of the XXI
The lodging of three cows, a cottage museum dedicated to Norman land
Character cottage, the cottage of 3 Cows is a reconstruction of a peasant habitat 19th, but with all the comforts of the 21st hidden: Enter and you change the century immediately !!!
This beautiful house-museum of the past Time has taken refuge in a Normandy longhouse 18th. It is very ornate Art People coming from our land, mottled here and there in our village flea markets. All exhibits have a history and we the contons. The decoration is based on three permanent exhibitions under the theme: wheat, milk and apples: Welcome to Normandy!
All coussinages as bedding and curtains post their red brick patterns. Particular attention was paid to the bedding; it is traditional French manufacturing and is part of a great hotel tradition. A real Clos Normand bed with curtains will host your most romantic getaway. The bed is made on arrival.
For your comfort and independence, the cottage is fully equipped with all necessary kitchen (brand dishwasher) and has a beautiful stone sink, recessed vitro, a fridge, an oven, a dishwasher, a microwave, a coffee maker, toaster, television, radio, .... There is a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower and hairdryer. The large Norman fireplace is operational and waiting for your grilled meats and potatoes on the grill. From your box bed you have a view on the latter, the warmth and cozy evenings so excited. .... Obviously the cottage is heated and insulated. Finally, outside garden furniture, a barbecue, a gazebo are reserved and are waiting in the shade of apple and quince.
On site, large covered pool 15 x 6 m heated in season (April to October), luxurious jacuzzi sheltered 7 place with 2 loungers equipped with 72 massage jets with chromotherapy, table tennis area, direct access to the forest (hiking ), Bicycle rental (greenway 900 m), bowling, delicatessen du Terroir, little rustic lunches, meals on a wood fire (house), authentic Norman meal .. Unusual funky place to stay
We spent a good week at Les 3 Vaches. It is compact living but with different items to spot where ever you look! (open the dresser draws and find the TV!). The Gite is well set in the Normandy country side with good access to local shopping, eating and a large variety of different places to visit. Our hosts were very welcoming and gave lots of ideas for visits (country side, walks, Castles, animal parks etc.). We were not able to 'do' everything we wished to see! The gite is equipped with enough items to cook and barbecue! There is even a small dishwasher for 2! Madame Tout was kind enough to do some washing as we had already been away for a week. The beach is accessible 40K away but the covered swimming pool was lovely and warm and very relaxing. The nearby Caravans are ideal for families with play area and table tennis and set away from the gite so no one is disturbed. We had a tour around the latest venture of The Hobbit House which will be amazing to bring family to stay! The only thing we missed were some more bowls for pasta etc and a light on both sides of the bed for reading at night.
Our week stay
Very friendly and helpful owners.
Just two negatives. Firstly the car park is quite a distance from the cottage especially if one is no longer young and physically fit.
Secondly one side of the bed is against the wall, a bit of a bother when getting out of bed in the night.
Overall a very enjoyable holiday. Would recommend.
Out of our comfort zone - but a great place to stay
I took a chance on this given that we are habitual hotel or 'modern' house vacationers....It was pleasure to stay in a clearly well cared for, well maintained and impeccably clean 'rustic accommodation'. The amount of effort and love that has gone into the creation of this place is a testiment to the owners. It took us a day or so to adjustment to 'rural life with some mod cons' but that's about us- not the gite. The location is good for exploring Normandy, the city,of Brionne is only minutes away and it is an easy drive to the landing beaches, Rouen, Paris and beyond. The Gite itself is stacked with original implements from the 19th century. Give the owners a chance to explain the history and they will, which will underline the amount of time and effort which has gone into creating this environment. If you stay in the Gite, be prepared to live out of your suit case/ bag as wardrobe or hanging space is minimal but this is about the experience. We had a great stay, loved the history behind the decoration and can only say to potential guests- check out the 'Hobbit House' due for launch later in the year. Stunning, meticulously planned and underlines the owners passion. Thank you to you both.
Nous reviendrons... Promis
A refaire !!
