About Linda & Jorge Gonzalez
Raised in New Jersey (too crowded). Chicago winters (too cold). Florida summers (too hot!). Clemson University grad (go Tigers!). And all we ever wanted to do was live in the mountains. We finally realized our dream and settled in the one of the friendliest small communities surrounded by nature's beauty which awes us every day. Peace. Nature. Tranquility. We found our serenity. Let us help you find yours at Gili's Cove Cottage.

Why Linda & Jorge Gonzalez chose Hayesville
We discovered Hayesville and Clay County after driving west from the crowds and hubbub of the Asheville area. Convenient to three metropolitan airports (Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga), Hayesville prides itself as being 'two hours from anywhere'. A largely rural area surrounded by national forest, the town boasts both a single stop-n-go light and a nationally recognized fine-dining restaurant. The area is rich in local folk arts and culture, with the John C. Campbell Folk Art School nearby. Recreation choices abound-- fishing and boating on Lake Chatuge is 10 minutes away. Hiking, waterfalls, golf, antiques galore. Concerts on the square, festivals and vineyards make it hard to choose what to do each day, especially on a summer weekend. The cottage is convenient to town but feels a world away.
What makes this Cottage unique
Turn off the road, drive past the pasture, look across the pond, cross over the creek and you've entered a different world. The cottage sits right on the creek-- a rushing, stocked trout stream right outside your windows. The all-season porch (screened in summer, windows in winter with gas fireplace) is the perfect place for family meals or a quiet retreat, always with the sounds of the rushing creek right outside. The pond offers a never-ending show of wildlife-- deer, ducks and geese, cranes and our resident Great Blue Heron. Children love to walk by the pasture and watch the mommas watching over their calves as they run and play, with poppa bull always casting a wary eye. Take a walk around the pond and along the creek trail-- you'll feel like you're in your own private place in the natural world.

Spent two weeks in this very quiet and beautiful river front property. Owners maintain in exceptionally well and it has everything you need in the kitchen, as well as other areas. Dog-friendly with lots of areas to go for walks. Hayesville is a quaint town with nice shops and friendly people. Lots of good restaurants within 20 minutes. We have stayed in about 15 rental properties and this one ranks at among the top! Hope to return.
Wife and I spent four nights at the property and were impressed with the house and the hosts. Both Linda and Jorge were super nice and helpful. The wife is already trying to decide when we might return. Their recommendation for Mary's Southern Grill was spot on, we did dinner there one night and breakfast while leaving. And do go ahead and drop in at the Tusquittee Tavern. After visiting with the owners and locals there you will be ready to move to the mountains too. It is also worth a drive up to the little town called Highlands, neat little town with lots to see and do. Overall the location of the Cottage is great as both a place to came and stay and never leave or be used as a base for great day trips. Great place and great hosts. Thanks
We have stayed in many cabins / cottages and this is the best yet
We stayed for four days. Property is well maintained and cared for. The property owners are very attentive and helpful. The river is crisp and clean. A lot of fun to wade and tube. Loved the screened in porch. We spent a lot of time there. The owners have paid a lot of attention to detail. Highly recommended.
Wonderful cottage by a beautiful stream. Perfect getaway for anyone who needs some peace and quiet. Linda and Jorge are wonderful as well! Thank you again for sharing your home with us. We had a wonderful stay.
Five Stars! All the way around! Nothing left to say :)
Check out the arts classes and free concerts at the renowned John C. Campbell Folk Art School. Agri-tourism at its best--over a dozen local vineyards offer tours and tastings in picturesque settings. Eat your Wheaties, then try whitewater rafting on the Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers. Fulfill a lifelong dream and hike the Appalachian Trail (or at least a part of it!). Learn to fly-fish and catch a trout for dinner right in your own backyard.
