About Bill Hopf
We are natives to Door County who are friends with the former owner of this property, When his cottage was damaged in a fire we joined up together and started construction of the two units on 3 acre plot,
Bill Hopf purchased this Townhome in 2012
Why Bill Hopf chose Sturgeon Bay
for 12 years we've been coming up to Sturgeon Bay for anything from snowmobiling to fishing or just relaxing by the fire on the beach ; it's on the end of a road in a private setting with three other homes; there's water in front and back , the bay out front and a beach on the pond in back; swimming or boating all around you.
What makes this Townhome unique
Water access 1 mile to lake Michigan or Sturgeon Bay with a 185 'boat dock and a beach in back with fire pits by the large pond that's stocked with fish . Your minutes away from Lake Michigan by boat or car or head North to Sturgeon Bay. Walk or bike to downtown Sturgeon Bay ,Lake beaches, lighthouse or head up the peninsula. Take a trip up along the Door peninsula and enjoy all there is along both the bay and lake , head back home and enjoy the 3 acres of land sitting out front on the patio enjoying the water view while the kids [play on the beach , grill or make dinner, enjoy a fire by the pit and then send the kids off to the bonus room to watch movies or play games while the adults can spend some time together. Take a look at the map to see what the Door has to offer.

We enjoyed the house and surrounding areas
Port Haven was great!
This property was perfect for our multi family gathering. The house was in a great location. The view was nice, it was quiet and the kids loved swimming and kayaking in the pond. We would recommend anyone to stay here. It was perfect. Door Co did not disappoint either. So much to do and see in the area. Wish we had a few more days to explore.
The house was accommodating for our entire family which was great. Our overall impression though was tainted because the first day we arrived, the air conditioning was broken. Bill gave us fans but that didn't cut it. After 2 days, he had someone come out and they told us the AC unit wasn't big enough to cool the entire house. The next day a bedroom AC was installed but it still didn't cool off all the rooms. We ended up having to rearrange people (especially the kids) and it was just annoying to not be able to have consistent AC during a hot week. It was just something you wouldn't think for the price we paid to stay there, that we would have to deal with. My mom's house isn't as big as that house was she has a stronger/bigger AC unit. Besides the AC not working, there were minor cosmetic things with the house that my mom talked to Bill about. Again, nothing major though except for the AC.
The kids enjoyed the swimming and fishing pond which was great to have during the hot week. You also couldn't beat the view of the water. We rented a boat and it was so nice to just pull up right to the house to pick everyone up. The kids thought that was so awesome! The fish/swim pond was stocked with fish and the look on their faces when they caught one, totally priceless. So overall we had a good time except for the AC issue. We did wish the house was closer to town/shops but again, there were other things to love about the location like the water and swimming/fish pond.
Thank you for the 4 star review. I responded to the 1st call regarding the A/C @ 9pm Sunday night. The technician was unable to come to Port Haven due to a family emergency. I bought $175.00 worth of fans, and when I returned the A/C was back on and running overnight. The next day your moms sister called @ 4pm and said the A/C had shut off. The technician came to property and cleaned/cleared the unit which had clogged from the cottonwood, and it was cooling properly. The 3rd day I asked how A/C was cooling & you mentioned it was still warm. I decided to install an independent A/C unit to increase your comfort level and maintain a cool temperature @ a cost of $3500.00. I was unaware of the conversation between you and the technician regarding the size of the HVAC system. The company he works for installed all the HVAC units in my rental properties and have been properly cooling/heating the units for 7 years. This has not been an issue as you can see by the 5 star reviews. After the unit was installed that day, your mom said everything was working fine and thanked me. Early the next morning I noticed the windows were open and I asked you to please close them as it was already 75 degrees w/ 80% humidity. Deb stated "your mother likes the breeze"and chose to leave the windows open, thus creating a conflict between the A/C properly cooling the rooms. "Minor cosmetic issues" were never discussed between your mother and me. As you can see from previous 5 star reviews, I pride myself on a prompt/timely response to ensure my guests enjoy their stay. I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your vacation, swimming&fishing in the private pond as well as the private dock access. As for the proximity to town, the property information/distance is outlined in the VRBO listing details. Thank you, Bill

Incredibly, the property exceeded the expectations from the pictures. We had a wonderful time, Bill was a tremendous host and we look forward to returning.
