Fantastic location just a few steps from Colosseum, reachable throught the impressive Domus Aurea Park. Elegant flat of 80 m2 (3 rooms/2 bathrooms with shower, air conditioned, 4/6 people) completely renewed and from the top furnished delightfully; near to Roman Fori, Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral, San Giovanni in Laterano and other prestigious monuments. Long stay discounted rate for unforgettable holidays!
The apartment was very large and comfortable, located on the first floor of a luxurious building with a lift. The four of us (adults) stayed in great comfort, and two additional persons could sleep on the sofa in the living room. The furniture and equipment was fully sufficient, and everything looked new. Two separate bathrooms. Great Wi-Fi. Location within a short walk through a park from the Colosseum, and lots of other sights (Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli, Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano) are in walking distance as well. Good access to public transport (two metro lines within a short walk, plus buses). You won't need a car during stay in that location, and the car can be easily left in the street for 7€/day or in a private (paid) garage. Lots of shops and cafes in direct vicinity, so you can easily grab an espresso or some breakfast on the way. Recommended!
I booked this apartment many months in advance and was asked twice by the owner to text her 30-45 minutes before we arrived. I did as requested only to find out she had provided the incorrect number - causing awkward conversations with the person I had texted, and us arriving at the address thinking we may have to find somewhere else to stay. Eventually, Homeaway were able to contact the owner and she arrived 10 minutes later to explain that the apartment still needed to be cleaned as the cleaner didn't have the key. This meant that, having spent the day travelling, we had to wait at least an hour and a half for the cleaner to do finish so we could shower before heading out - although the delays meant we were unable to visit some churches as planned as we would have had to rush visiting them due to them now due to be closing soon.
The apartment was not as clean as I would have expected (possibly due to the last minute, rushed nature of the cleaning). There was an open carton of Pasatta in the fridge - presumably left by the previous guests. Lots of bulbs in the lighting fixtures did not work making the main kitchen/living area always dark. Net curtains in the second bedroom were hanging off the rail.
For three adults, there was only 3 bath towels in the apartment - no hand towels or towels to dry dishes. What's more, it was almost impossible to use one of the showers without water spilling on to the tiled floor and we had no spare towel to mop it up with.
I am sure the owner may have rectified some of the issues had we contacted her, but we had a busy schedule, already affected by the delays accessing the apartment, and made do with what we had rather than spend more time sorting very basic issues.
The location was fine for us - very close to the Colosseum and both Metro lines.
We have had really enjoyable experiences in the past using Homeaway to rent apartments - and they proved invaluable in contacting the owner for us this time. The apartment didn't spoil our stay in Rome, but given our experience, I don't think we would stay here again. We may have just been unlucky!
We stayed at Antonella’s apartment in February. Unfortunately it was not the apartment that was advertised on the website. Antonella had told us that it would be a different apartment but did not explain that the new apartment contained fewer rooms. As a consequence our young child had to sleep on a sofa bed in the main living area. We had specifically selected the advertised apartment to avoid this.
The apartment was very nice and obviously newly renovated but there were a number of problems. Only 2 of the rings on the gas hob worked. One of the 2 others was very dangerous. We ran out of hot water on the 2nd morning as there had been no instruction as to where the switch was and so it got turned off by mistake. The television did not work and the kitchen lacked many useful items: tin opener, bottle opener, sharp knives, bread knives etc.
Contact with the owner was difficult and we had no response to our queries from the owner during our stay. If changes are made this could be a lovely apartment but I would check before you go as to exactly what apartment you will be staying in and that the cooker has been mended and the other problems sorted out.
There were 5 of us staying at Antonella's apartment - my mother in law, my wife, my 2 teenage kids and myself. My mother in law slept in the double sofa bed in the lounge/dining area. We were all happy and comfortable staying there. Having 2 bathrooms was great for the 5 of us. The weather has been very hot in Italy but we had air conditioning which was a blessing. The kids room had a ceiling fan only but that was fine because the aircon from the lounge room came in as well. The park at the end of the street is lovely to walk through in the evenings and it is SO close to the colosseum. There are many shops close by including a Conad Supermarket only 5 minute walk away. There is also a lift from the ground floor to the 1st floor so we didn't have to carry all our bags up the stairs! Thank you Antonella for a comfortable and welcoming family apartment at a great price!
We were in Antonella's home for one week and it was the most enjoyable time. Antonella is very pleasant to work with, all of our questions were answered immediately. It was the most central location near the Colliseum metro station and a main thorough way that has everything that you may need and many convenient grocery stores, pastry shops, coffee, etc.... Remember to have cash for metro tickets as they do not accept credit cards.
Antonella's place is in a very quite and well kept building. My family of 5 stayed there and was very comfortable, we would of liked a washer machine in the apartment but no problem as near by you can get to a place that does laundry for you or a "self serve" where you do your own. It was near the grocery store so you can grocery shop or have a coffee break near by and sight see while your laundry was in.
It is in a very safe place, although we did not go out through the park at night. If definitely is a quick route through the park to get to the apartment. I don't see how you would regret renting from Antonella. I would love to stay here again when I come back to visit as the Trevi fountain was getting renovated when we were here. I would recommend this apartment for anyone visiting Rome.
We leave this apartment tomorrow after staying for 6 nights. The location of this apartment has been great for our family of five (two adults and 3 children--one is less than a year old). It has rained nearly the entire time we have been in Rome, but we were still able to see all of the sites without getting soaked! The metro station is just a few minutes walk (both A and B lines), and it helped us get right to the Vatican, Circus Maximus, Bocca Della Verita, and the Spanish Steps when it was raining. We enjoyed the restaurants nearby, and there is a laundry service just down the street. The apartment was very comfortable, and fit our family well! We had everything we needed to cook meals instead of eating out for every meal, which is great when you are on a budget! Grocery stores and pharmacies were easy to find. Antonella was very welcoming, and we really enjoyed our stay! We highly recommend this apartment!
