A fantastic weekend in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My mum, brother and I stayed in early March. Despite the rain, we had a wonderful time. Federica (the owner’s daughter) made us very welcome and the flat was perfect for our needs. It is literally 1 minute from the Uffizi and a couple more to the Ponte Vecchio. Walking across that bridge in the early evening to visit the supermarket was an absolute pleasure (especially minus the crowds). We had an amazing meal at the trattoria in the same street (and can recommend the florentine steak). Best of all, the apartment is perfectly placed to explore this beautiful city. Thanks so much Elena!

Authentic, friendly, great location

  • 5 of 5

We sent our 4 adult children ages 17-36 to Florence for 4 nights. I booked Duomo Property 6594701 with Elena and Fredrica. The kids all raved about their time in Florence and the accessibility and kindness of Fredrica who met them on the afternoon of their arrival and helped them during a couple of issues they faced with the apartment.

Perfectly located only 1/2 a block from the Uffizi Palace/Museum, and 1/2 a block from the Ponte Veccchio in the original midievil section of the city, they did not have traffic noise to deal with at all. Arriving mid-afternoon from Rome, they had phone trouble, Fredrica was there waiting since I had e-mailed their arrival time a day before, and she was charming and very helpful. The apartment had everything, and the beds were comfotable.

Things to know: there is a valve under the kitchen sink to turn on the water for the washing machine and these are remodelled original midievil buildings so avoid turning on all the heaters at once and using a hair dryer as you could blow a breaker...we did. OOPS! The ceilings are not as high as in America especially in the loft bedrooms. My son and grandson are over 6'4" tall and had to watch their heads, but said someone 5'10" or shorter would have no problems. There was plenty of room in the showers for these big men which was nice since it rained every day and a warm shower was appreciated. The bottom steps of the spiral staircase do not have a railing, so watch your step.

The grocery store next store is actually a butcher shop with a marvellous assortment of meats that are very good. The Supermarket, where you can buy a variety of food items, is across the Ponte Vecchio. After crossing the bridge, make a left turn on Via de' Bardi and it will be on your right hand side. Bring a shopping bag, there is a fee for a store bag. We shopped and cooked in house and this worked out well. Pizzerias near the apartment are less expensive than those on the main roads near the tourist attractions, and the pizza is better tasting. The best kept secret for dining is Buca Poldo on Chiasso del Buco. Outstanding food, an apperitif and bottle of wine with dinner and it cost 85 Euros for 4 people to dine; right up the alley to the right of the apartment. We highly recommend this well located and comfortable apartment.

Mille Grazie Fredrica and Elena.
