Comfortable, modern and well situated apartment - Highly Recommended
Our first visit to Lisbon, and we certainly picked a good place to stay. Well situated in the historic area of the city, with easy access to public transport links and in walking distance of many attractions, both cultural and edible!
We were met by Luisa who gave us a very warm welcome, and showed us the apartment. For a stay of 5 days, there was all we needed, though a kettle would have made making tea and coffee easier, rather than having to boil water in a pan on the hob.
Jorge called by to say hello later on, which was a nice touch, and we also met Francoise on our last day.
Although the weather wasn't kind to us (it rained nearly every day to some extent) we did manage to explore the streets, visit the castle (very good on a Sunday, with a demonstration of ancient weapons) and a trip down to Belem.
As a short "taster" visit to Lisbon it was good - we may well plan a longer trip another time.
One word of warning to anybody planning to visit - the signs warning of pickpockets on the trams are for real! It is such a shame, but in a single unguarded moment while trying to board a crowded E15 tram at Sodre, I had my phone stolen, so please, please don't let it put you off going, but do take care - keep your valuables out of reach of the bad guys.
Jorge, Francoise and Luisa - thank you for a most comfortable stay. It was lovely to meet you, and maybe we'll meet again one day.

Beautiful views over Lisbon
Great location, lovely apartment, beautiful light.
Back again for another great week in Sta Caterina
The flat has a lovely outlook and ambience and so convenient for the surrounding areas. Luisa met us on our arrival and reminded us of the facilities. We did have some poor weather this time but the flat was cozy with the radiators. There are several Lisbon guides and books in many languages to read.
Food shops are on Calcada da Combro - a short walk up past the Miradouro, The Frutas shop just past the funicular, stocks much more than just fruit -milk cheese bread (cheaper than Mercado). Pasteleria is on the corner to Calcada perfect Pastel de Nato .
There's a quick way down to the Cais de Sodre (main station for Cascais and Estoril and metro Green line) it's easier than walking to Baixa-Chiado metro. You can visit the market with food centre down there very easily. Try the small local cafe at the bottom of the Travessa Alcaide street for lunch (spot the chalk board if they are open) can be very busy with local trade
The View Tells The Story...
...Beyond amazing... this clean, comfortable apartment in the the hub of Barro Alto is great for 2 people. The view from the 3rd floor apartment took our breath away! We are in our 60's and way out of shape...but once we got our luggage up the 4 flights of stairs (ugh!)... we were on our way to a great "work out" week. Everything you need is walkable, and Taxi's were honest and generally speaking, under 10 euros to get anywhere. We felt very safe, and found the hosts and "locals" very helpful. The kitchen is basically equiped with salt, pepper, olive oil, tea etc. (Ask Jorge how to use the stove top). Shower is modern (bring soap & shampoo),bed is firm and comfortable. Bring electic converters if needed... but most of all bring yourselves to this wonderful, magical city and this lovely apartment in paradise.
We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful apartment at the end of October. It exceeded our expectations in every way and was in a perfect location, being a close walk to all the restaurants and bars. The apartment is very quiet at night and provided a peaceful haven after exploring bustling Lisbon on foot. The view from the balcony is spectacular!
Jorge, Francoise and Luisa were a pleasure to deal with from the time of booking through to the day we left.
I would definately recommend this apartment to friends and family looking for a quiet, attractive apartment in the heart of Lisbon.
Fabulous apartment with awesome views over the city
This was a perfect apartment for our first visit to Lisbon. It didn't take long for us to find our way around, we were perfectly placed for local transport but spent most of our time exploring on foot. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay, and it made a real difference to have a shower that actually worked properly! Both Luisa, who welcomed us on our arrival, and Francoise who came to say goodbye, were lovely generous people and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for your first, and subsquent visits!
