Our hostess, Christine’s, apartment suited our needs perfectly. The location in Old Lyon was very convenient to restaurants, shops, and historic sites, with easy access to the metro for a short trip to Lyon’s city center.
As mentioned in other reviews, Christine was VERY helpful and attentive getting us settled upon our arrival. When we were lost trying to first locate the apartment, she made a long, up-hill walk to find us on a street that was parallel to our destination. She and her husband also held a parking spot for us in front of the apartment so we could park our car there. After we moved in, she gave us a tour of the apartment, pointing out various things we should be aware of such as operation of the washing machine.
The apartment was very comfortable for our party of three, had all necessary conveniences, and was very quiet. One bit of information guests considering this location should be aware of is that although the apartment has two showers, one of the showers is adjacent to, and partly open to, one of the bedrooms and sink/laundry area. This was not a major problem, just something you might want to be aware of. The view from the apartment’s terrace was great, offering something different both day and night, such as the illuminated tower of Église Saint-Georges.
Thanks Christine and family for a wonderful stay in Lyon. We would consider staying at your apartment again if we return to Lyon.
I came to Lyon to meet my son after he finished his yearlong study abroad program at the University. It was the first stop in a 3 week tour of France and Italy. This was one of my favorite homes and we really enjoyed our stay in this very unique and comfortable home in the heart of the historic center. Christine was wonderful and explained everything to us. The comfy beds and beautiful terrace were appreciated very much after long days of exploring the city. It is very easy to walk all over Lyon from the house, and there are bike stands very close as well, so that you can rent a bike in one place, and return it at another. The home has a cook top, fridge, coffee maker, nice eating area inside, nice modern bathrooms and a nice outdoor area. Much more comfortable and spacious than a hotel room. The location of this home is what makes it so special, it is in a superb area, you can walk to everything and it is very safe at all hours. There are numerous restaurants very close and the metro is very close as well. I wanted to stay in Vieux Lyon and was very happy with my choice. Thank you Christine for sharing your wonderful home with us!
We loved our stay in Lyon at this superb apartment with every new modern appliance you'd desire.
The walk in showers were luxurious and the views superb.
Truly a gem!! We had a wonderful stay in this marvelous city and strongly recommend staying at this beautiful flat!

The apartment is unique and historic yet tastefully modernised. A bit cramped for a family of five, but perfect for four. An added bonus is the outdoor space on the terrace. The apartment is in a great location in Vieux Lyon. Very quiet in the apartment, even at night despite being so central. Very convenient for bars, shops and cafes. We mostly walked everywhere, but the metro is only minutes away. As we arrived very late at night we had pre-booked a taxi from the airport (which was also cheaper than the Rhone Express for five people). The owner (who lives next door) had already sent me the code for the key safe, so it was easy to access the apartment. She had also got food and coffee, etc for us since we arrived too late for the shops. This was our first visit to Lyon, but we shall definitely be visiting the city again.
Located in the historic section of Lyon and in a walking area. For vehicles to enter the area, you must have a pass card. We called Christine, the Owner as we were approaching Lyon and she gave us great directions and met us outside of the walking area with the access card to get us in to the area and rode with us to the apartment. We were able to find a parking space at the end of block where the apartment was located and parked there free our entire stay. Otherwise we would had to park at the nearby paid parking lot.
The area was charming and safe and the entire time, we felt that we had step back in time (note that the place is located on a small hill, so there is incline paved in cobblestones as all of the historical area). The metro, funicular, bus and boat stops where close by. There were lots of nearby shops, small puppet theater, bakeries, grocery stores, etc. Each morning I would walk two short blocks and buy fresh breads and pastries and we would breakfast on the wonderful patio/terrace.
I can't express how helpful Christine was during our stay. She explained how everything worked and gave great advice on places to eat and things to do. It was nice that she was right next door if we had any problems (which we didn't). Our friend, left his favorite jacket at the apartment and Christine was kind enough to mail it to him in the U.S. (we reimbursed her but we appreciated the extra effort she had to make to do so).
The apartment was a surprising blend of rustic charm and modern amenities e.g. washer/dryer, hair dryer, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee pot, hot water kettle, dishwasher, stove top, etc. The apartment was like it appeared in the photos but very sunny. The walls were quite thick so there was no noise from any other structures or the street - very restful. The showers (no bath tubs) were large and the water pressure worked quite well.
We hope to return to Lyon one day and stay here for a much longer period of time.
This was a super place to stay with a young family. The clever, modern design of the ancient apartment was very sypathetic and it offered us a super base forour 3 day stay. The terrace is the apartment's greatest assett with lovely views over roof tops. Christine was very friendly, helpful and efficient.
