A lovely patio where you can view how a community lives.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay here in Madrid. The apartment itself is cozy but more than two people really need for a weeks stay in the city. The kitchen is fully furnished, for us this means a wine bottle opener and a sharp knife for bread, cheese and jamon. Although I suppose one could cook there also. A large espresso maker (stove top style) made the mornings doable. The master bedroom is fine, the bed is comfortable, and there is plenty of closet space, The second bedroom is a bunk bed, above what we used as the closet.

The best part of this apartment is the Patio / Terrace. Every morning we would watch the city wake up and get moving in the park below. People getting pastries and espresso before work from the shop on the far side of the square.Children walking to school. Others bringing their dogs for a walk and talking with neighbors. At night is when the square became most used as the 3 resturants would have dozens of patrons sitting outside, eating, drinking and smoking. It does get quite loud from 1800 until 2400. That is when many of the younger 20-30 year-olds head out to start their evenings. It can stay noisey until 0400 or later or until the police move folks out so that the cleaning crew can move in for the daily clean up. It is not too bad but ear plug do work and may be necessary for some.

Sitting on the patio before heading out for the evening with a glass of wine and some fresh bread is a joy. There is something about watching the sunset above a lovely city that make a trip worthwhile.

The metro is two blocks away, and will get you to most every where in the city. Get a ten trip pass and you are set to go. If you need, taxis are at the metro stop and can get you to the airport or train station with little fuss.A taxi from the airport to the apartment is 30 euro. When you first look for the apartment, remember that it is on the square and the door is next to the pizza restaurant on the south side. There is graffiti on the door and walls, but don't let that put you off. This is a nice neighborhood and it is quite safe.I will stay here again when I return to Madrid.

What an excellent stay! The apartment is perfect with beautiful terrace! 5 star stay, just loved it

  • 5 of 5

This was such an exceptional experience. I profusely thank Enrique for this wonderful stay and cannot recommend it enough! I give this a 5 star rating and plan to hopefully stay here for any future visits. The apartment is exactly as depicted in pictures and even cuter. There is everything you could need and even thoughtful items such as umbrellas. The kitchen is well equipped to serve all your dining needs and the dining table inside and outside are excellent. The bathroom is very nice and comes with towels and a washing machine. Overall this experience was fabulous and I thoroughly recommend this apartment. We had 3 people and it was a perfect space with plenty of room. The noise in the plaza was not a problem and was actually quite low. There is no air conditioning but it wasn't bad. I recommend to just plan accordingly and there's always cold beer :) all my thanks to Enrique for such a smooth process. The communication was top notch and the check in and check out was perfect. I have stayed in home stays all over the world and this was hands down my favorite experience. Thank you so much Enrique for such a great rental. Have no second thoughts about this place- you'll love it. The terrace is incredible! One of the best places in all of Madrid! Thank you!

The terrace is superb, ideal central location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here to attend a music festival in the city centre and taxis were cheap from this ideal central location. Around here are lots of things happening to suit most, shops, bars, clubs. The biggest drawback to this accommodation was no air-con, we arrived during a heat wave and it was unbearable without all the windows and terrace door open. And it is based in a very lively square despite being top floor, the noise only really stopped during mid afternoon, I think would have slept better if didn't have to open all the windows for fresh air. The fans provided unfortunately did nothing for high temperatures.

The terrace was delightful for sitting out any time, and this made this average-sized apartment more open. I think the apartment should be a little bit more squeaky clean (including floors) for paying guests, even though the standard was good enough. Nacho was a super friendly face and welcoming when we arrived and kept in touch via whatsapp, he was very helpful.

Air-con and a freshen up (deep clean, paint) would make this place would be 5/5 * instead of 3-4. Overall suited our needs.

Great apartment great location, lack of AC is an issue

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for eight days and thought the apartment was excellent. Enrique was easy to reach and his friend Nacho met us at check-in and explained everything. The place was a great size and the location is fantastic. Malasaña is a truly fantastic neighbourhood. Super little cafes and bars and boutiques. It's very young, very cool. The terrace is as big as the photos portray. The views from there are awesome and I quite enjoyed sitting out there with my morning coffee.

The only caveat is the heat. The apartment is on the sixth floor and it was stinking hot when we stayed there in June. There's no AC and only one overhead fan in the bedroom (which is the hottest room) and two small desktop fans. We left one night early, unable to cope with the heat. The problem was compounded by the fact that the plaza where the building is located is a meeting point for lots of residents each night as they drink and play music. It's actually a great scene down there, but on Friday and Saturday nights it went quite literally until 6am. The apartment is high up enough that closing the windows renders it perfectly quiet, but without AC we had no choice but to keep the window open to try and get a breeze going. So it was either roast in the quiet, or get a breeze but deal with the noise outside.

In the fall, sprint, and winter this apartment would be perfect and I couldn't recommend it enough. But for what is being charged it's not quite worth it in the summer.

Lovely holiday in Madrid

  • 4 of 5

My friend and stayed at this apartment during our stay in Madrid. It is a lovely apartment on the last floor of the building which gives it a lovely terrace over the Plaza dos de Mayo which is a very lively place surrounded by restaurants and bars this is nice thing but can be a disadvantage when you no longer want to party but want to sleep. The apartment is not far from the Gran Via. Overall me and my friend enjoyed our stay. I would give advice on airconditioning and doubled glazed windows and it will be perfect!!!!!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the Apartment! Loved the Terrace! Loved being right on Plaza Dos De Mayo in the center of of Malasaña ! Owner super accommodating with our rather complex and changing check-in time. Also, get this, we inadvertently overpaid and would have never realized it if the owner hadn't brought it to our attention and then immediately refunded it! As this apartment is right on Plaza Dos De Mayo--in many ways the epicenter of happening Malasaña--it has everything you need within a few feet of the front door, but it's also busy and noisy well into the night. I'm 60, typically go to bed early and consider myself somewhat noise-sensitive. That said, I loved it. It didn't bother me at all, but I was there in March and it was cool in the evening so I slept with the windows closed. Might be a different story when it's hot out, so if your super neurotically noise-sensitive or have kids, blah blah, this might not be the place for you. (although I think there is air conditioning). A fun thing that happened was that on Sunday morning some kids who'd obviously been up all night were continuing their party on the terrace of an apartment diagonally across the plaza. When we came out on our terrace they smiled and waved for us to come join them. We didn't but it was sure sweet of them to ask us oldsters over like that. Oh Yeah, I almost forgot, I love Madrid and Malasaña is Madrid at its most magical! I'd definitely stay in this place again!
