We stayed for 5 nights in October. The view is spectacular! The town is beautiful, but be aware that you will climb many stairs. Fun if you're in good shape, but impossible if you're not. We ate at Nino's pizza. Very good and reasonably priced. We took the ferry everywhere on the coast. It was cheep and convenient. We had to take the bus up to Ravello from Amalfi, but it was very full the day we arrived. So we took the red Sight Seeing Bus and it was 5 euros per person but very comfortable and there was room for our luggage. Walter was very good at communicating, (we used whatsapp) and he met us when we arrived and showed us everything in the apartment. I highly recommend this place.
My husband and I loved our stay at Ravello Houses! The owners Walter and Jeane are wonderful folks and checked in often to see how everything was going. The terrace and spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea is stunning. Every morning we drank our espresso while soaking in the morning sun and leisurely made plans for our day. There are stores nearby that offer fruits, vegetables, cheeses, wine and such. Be prepared for stairs! A good150 of them from the apartment to the main street. The walk to the square is about 15 mins. uphill! Just take your time, take breaks if you have to and breathe in the spectacular view of this beautiful region of Italia! Our favorite restaurant was Cafe Mimi. The best limoncello spritz EVER and absolutely delicious food! If you're in Ravello during the high season, make a reservation! Ravello is the city of music so make sure you take in a concert or two!! We visited Walter and Jeane at their ceramic shop in Amalfi. They're shop is second one on the right when you get on the main drag of the town. Their shop has nice selection of souvenirs. I must mention again that Walter and Jeane are wonderful hosts. Their warmth and beautiful smiles make you feel right at home.
Someday my husband and I will return to the romantic city of Ravello and we will definitely stay at Ravello Houses. It was perfect!
Wow a million dollar view does not cover the beauty from Ravello House. This is a must stay Casa!!!
The home is exactly as pictured on VRBO.
The only thing the pics don’t show well enough is the amazing views, Mountains to the left beautiful coast and sea to the right.
The unit has been recently updated very clean. My wife has a bad back and the bed was firm. The owners Walter and Jeane suggested taking to softer Queen sofa mattress and placing on top of the bed which was a great solution. We can’t say enough about our hosts. They arranged private parking for 60% less than the parking garage and when we asked if there was a pool we could use for the day Walter hooked us up with the amazing Hotel Margarita where we stayed at the pool and enjoying a delicious lunch from the terrace restaurant with views of Ravello.
Thank you Walter and Jeane for everything. If we make it back to Ravello we will definitely stay with you again.
My wife and I just spent a glorious week in Ravello House, perched on a spectacular site overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the village below in the valley. The apartment comes well equipped with a great shower and everything else you might need. The real prize, however is the beautiful terrace surrounded by steep terraced plots which are carefully nurtured by the local inhabitants. Even though you are close to civilisation there is a real feeling of being immersed in nature with the distant sound of cockerels crowing and the chiming of the bells of medieval churches, of which there are many. The town of Ravello is beautiful, historic and a centre for musical events. It is about fifteen minutes walk uphill. A certain level of fitness would be required for this property as the walk to the road and the village is all uphill with many, many steps. Walter, our host was wonderful and I almost forgot , if you like nice food this is definitely the place for you. Loads of great restaurants, one better than the next. Can't wait to go back.
Grazie mille Gus
Many Steps to a Million Dollar View
We spent 10 days in this magical town on the Amalfi coast – it is far enough away from the crowds but close enough to see and experience the sights. First – the apartment is just as pictured and sparkling clean – it is one open space - perfect for a couple. The terrace is the highlight with a million dollar view overlooking the sea. The bathroom shower has good hot water and water pressure. And it was great to have a washing machine because we worked up a sweat walking up the steps to the center of town. The bed was comfortable although the pillows were a bit lumpy. The towels were a nice size and we were even provided beach towels! The kitchen had a full sized refrigerator and freezer, oven and stove top. Walter showed us how to make coffee using the Italian coffee maker and we enjoyed breakfast each day on the terrace. We didn’t cook but the pans and utensils looked adequate. The dishes were a bit of a jumble but enough for us. You must be prepared to walk steps – there are 150 steps to the Via Republic (the first street above the apartment) and another 180 steps to the center square. Once you get to the top of the first set of steps there are two small stores where you can get most of your grocery needs – the store to the left at the top of the ramp has the basics – milk, yogurt, pasta and a small section of canned foods, also a meat counter. The shop to the right is a jewel – fresh bread, pizza and each day the chef prepares a special (roast chicken, eggplant parmesan, vegetable lasagna, cheese penne). We ate large lunches most days while we were out seeing the sights and stopped at the shop for the day’s special, which we had for dinner. There are several shops in Ravello with a little larger selection of grocery items but be prepared to arrange your stops so that you don’t have to carry around your shopping.
There is much to see in this area – we took the walk (downhill) to Minori where we had a lovely lunch, took a boat trip to Capri, used the SITA bus to get around from Amalfi (1.20e each way and not always on time based on the published timetable).
Walter and Jean were fantastic hosts – arranging a driver to pick us up and take us to Naples, helping with the luggage at arrival and departure. Walter had pizza and wine and beer for us when we arrived late in the afternoon, showed us how to use the washing machine, coffee maker and made sure we had everything we needed.
It was an amazing vacation and I would recommend this apart
Amazing views and renters!
Yes you have to hike a few steps to get to this apartment, but once you get to the top of the stairs and into the kitchen you will be hit with a view that compares to none. The large patio is perfect for relaxing at any time of day and did I mention the view??
Walter and his wife are also incredibly helpful and available at any time day or night. We got in late and Walter waited for us, showed us to our parking spot, walked us to the apt and then walked us back up the hill to show us where we could by food and wine. He also had A basket of breakfast stuff waiting for us at the house. We made dinner in the kitchen which had pretty much everything we needed. We also got a parking ticket in another town and Walter helped us take care of it as we had no idea what we were doing.
The apartment has a washing machine which was key for us. The beds are a bit hard, but comparable to everywhere else we stayed in Italy.
Ravello is a small, cute town to wander around. We hiked down to Amalfi one day and over to Minori another day. Both longer "urban hikes" up and down stairs but doable. They are also easily reachable by bus or car.
In summary, this apartment does not disappoint! If I go back to the Amalfi coast I would absolutely stay here again and maybe not leave that patio!
Allora vi aspettiamo per una prossima avventura. Grazie a tutti
