Not exactly what was expected.....

  • 2 of 5

First of all the view was incredible. Secondly, the correspondence with Jacqui was courteous and prompt. Now for the not so great. The reviews by several people in July that rated this property less than clean and tidy are absolutely correct. I wrote separately before writing this review to Jacqui to tell her about the dishwasher, toaster and the cleanliness of the property. She was polite in her response and did not indicate in any way that the six of us had done anything wrong (the property was probably left cleaner than when we got there). The reason I am mentioning this is because when I have taken the time to write a less than perfect review (which is very rare because I spend hours reviewing what past guests have said so that I know I am picking the right places) I get a not so nice response back saying that I left the place a mess or have done something wrong. Totally not true - it is just a anger response on their part. I have emails to prove that Jacqui did not make any negative comments at all about the way we left the property.

The dishwasher does not work in spite of what she told me when I told her we ran it twice and the dishes were still dirty. Maybe that is why when a previous reviewer stated the dishes in the cabinets were not clean. They may have been run in the dishwasher, but it does not clean the dishes. We know - we tried twice and resorted to washing our dishes by hand. A previous reviewer stated sticky counter tops and crumbs - he is correct. Cobwebs in the bunkbed bedroom were low and easily reached by a dust rag - they were not hidden high in a corner. They could not be reached easily because of all the clutter on the floor to get to them. Cobwebs mean spiders. Jacqui had told me she had been in the house that morning awaiting our arrival so she can't respond by telling me that she needs to talk to her housekeeper about the cleanliness like she told me in an email. If she is the owner she should look over the property before guests arrive. She also told me that she apologized because her Hoover wasn't working properly and things weren't up to her standard (that implies to me that she does the cleaning and not a housekeeper). She told me she had been cleaning that same morning and blamed the condition on her Hoover. The Hoover doesn't do cobwebs on lamps/corners. The bathrooms were full of baskets of dribs and drabs of bottles and the vents were deplorable with dirt. Wash window so view can be enjoyed

Wonderful view, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time in the house. The view was spectacular and the kitchen is bigger than it appears in the photos. We even got a rainbow out of our window! Five adults and one toddler fit comfortably. The large yard was great for a two year old to romp. All in all a very nice stay that suited our needs.

In a word "Majestic"!

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for the 4 of us. All adults and looking for a relaxing property with views. It was magnificent! We watched the sheep across the Loch all evening until the sun went down. The property was comfortable and had all the amenities we could hope for. Rooms all had views, kitchen was put together well and the owner had all of the amenities needed for travelers from far away. We absolutely LOVED IT! Skye is simply beautiful and the views and sites we visited have left a lasting impression. Thank you so much Jacqui - you have done a wonderful job with this rental property.... Guestbook was great, recommendations great too.

Beautiful Cottage on Skye

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place! Cottage met all of our needs. Located close to Portree but not in all the "hubbub" of town. And the view from the back patio was nothing short of magnificent!!!! At night, when it was quiet, you could hear the sheep "baaing" from across the water. Loved our time on Skye and loved this charming cottage.

Delightful home with phenomenal views!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (4 of us total) had such a lovely stay in this home! It was spacious, cozy, and perfectly located to explore Skye. Plus the views were incredible!!! Jacqui was responsive when we had any questions, and we were close enough to Portree to make food shopping easy. A lovely stay and will stay here again if ever in Skye!
