Cute little studio apartment situated in the heart of Lucca within the historic walls. It has been recently renovated and it is well equipped with household linen, kitchen accessories (moka italian coffee and long American coffee) soaps, mosquito net and it consists of a single, bright room with kitchenette, comfortable sofa bed for two people and bathroom with shower and bidet. It is situated in a quiet street close to all major attractions of Lucca and monuments of interest such as the Romanesque church of San Michele lined with medieval buildings, the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, the famous "via Finlungo" full of craft shops, the ancient panoramic walls (passable on foot or by bicycle throughout their length, about 4 km) and the large square Napoleon where every year in July takes place the famous "summer festival" with international stars. In just 20 minutes by car or train you can reach the beautiful sandy beach of Viareggio-Versilia and the city of Pisa, in one hour you can reach Florence and in about two hours the city of Siena. The Lucca territory offers an infinite variety of landscapes and visit opportunities, the marble mountains of the Apuans, the wooded slopes of the Apennines, the banks of the Serchio and its numerous tributaries, a little canyon, the hot thermal springs, the small lakes lying in the valley bottoms, the marshy areas where the migratory birds gather, the underground grottoes, the exuberant Spring flowerings, the luxuriant gardens of the Renaissance villas. Hiking in Garfagnana (mountains) with beautiful landscapes.
The studio has all you need for a comfortable stay and is in an ideal location close to everything. Also, you couldn't ask for a better host than Laura.
We stayed at Laura's little cosy Nest for a week in September. And what a fantastic little place! So clean, comfy and close to the town centre. Highly recommended!!! We'll definitely stay again. Zuzi and Filip
"For a comfortable and convenient place for a couple visiting Lucca, Laura''s ''nest'' was an excellent choice. It''s well equipped (from linen and crockery to an umbrella for rainy days) and good value. Before we went, we wondered whether it would feel cramped (it doesn''t - the bed and table fold away easily when they are not needed) or we''d be frustrated at the lack of an outside space (we didn''t - in April it was often enough just to sit by the open window and the walls are only a couple of minutes walk away if you want to take your book/picnic out). You can get just about everything you need on Via San Paolino (five minutes walk at most) and if your favourite restaurant/cafe/delicatessen turns out to be more distant, you''re within the city walls and nothing is that far away."
Leaving the motorway follow the signs to porta sant'Anna and Piazzale Verdi (parking, tourism office, bus terminal and internet point). The apartment is only 3 minutes walk from here.
Arriving by train, from the train station get into the city center from Porta San Pietro and take Via Vittorio Veneto and Via Galli Tassi. Duration of the walk 15 minutes, by bus 8 minutes. For arrivals by plane (airport "Galileo" Pisa) Lazzi-VaiBus shuttles are available that will end in Piazzale Verdi in Lucca, or take the train from Pisa airport to the central station of Lucca.
Just 100 meters from the apartment you can enjoy the typical cuisine of Lucca "by Julius", famous restaurant of ancient traditions that enjoys a beautiful view of the Renaissance walls. Do not miss the "Lucca in September" with fairs, markets of all kinds, exhibitions and performances, the "summer festival" in July with international singers and the "Lucca comics" the first week of November.
